More details regarding the recent fucked up shenanigans that has been happening. Everyone is still upset about the new changes LiveJournal did with the settings, receiving 9,000+ comments on the release page and over 1,000 on their news page. They say they are "considering" our feedback about the new settings, unfortunately until we seem so dramatic proof that they are, indeed, listening to us and that they are going to fix this mess I am not believing in anything they are saying.

Lately there seems to be a huge blowup concerning [livejournal.com profile] igrick, who apparently is the head of LiveJournal Russia, and his unprofessional and mocking behavior towards other users. Here is a translation of the exchanges and his words, along with more information about the other changes the site has made this year which affects its users.

Ways You Can Get Your Voice Heard

Sign the petition and spread it around, get it to as many LJ users as possible.

[livejournal.com profile] rollback88 has a poll regarding these changes. Fill it out and pass it around.

Comment on their news and release feeds if you haven't already. Let them know how you feel directly, or leave a direct comment in their feedback.

I'm still researching more on what has been going on, keeping tabs on everything and finding other ways on voicing our complaints and making sure that the people running the site hear us. I know it's a long-shot considering their lack of concern over our concerns and opinions, but we can at least try. Granted it's not going to magically happen overnight, since that shit takes time to revert to the old setting, but hopefully it all goes back to normal before or just after the new year. I'm giving them that amount of time frame before I am going all Lima Heights again.

Obama Administration: DOMA Unconstitutional.

A-freaking-men! I just about cried with absolute joy when I heard this yesterday.

I don't think I'll ever understand the blatant hatred and outright spitefulness towards something as beautiful as love. Why can't these people see this is by no means a threat to marriage? If it doesn't affect them personally, why should they even care of two men or two women marry each other? Why should it even matter to these people what others do with the privacy of their own lives? The "protection of the sanctity of marriage" is just a bullshit line to sugarcoat their bigotry and fear of same-sex couples being recognized as human beings in our society who share the same rights as they do. There's also something called separation of church and state, which has been severely ignored by many in these kinds of debates and that really needs to change.

Love isn't a privilege, it isn't something on reserve only for heterosexuals. To think that is downright disgusting and inhumane. You cannot take away the rights of others simply because you disagree and have opposing opinions on the matter.

I believe this decision is another step forward in the right direction, and I hope it goes through. Yes, we can. ♥

SIGN PETITION TO SAVE CAPRICA AND GET A SECOND SEASON.

Some think it's a lost cause and that it's "beyond saving" at this point. I, however, am remaining optimistic and am incredibly adamant that with bringing the attention to the networks and the TPTB that this is a show many people have watched and have loved since the beginning, and that there is a dedicated fanbase that is disappointed and outraged by this abrupt decision of canceling such a fascinating and intellectually stimulating science fiction drama and that it deserves at least one more season in order to expand the story, its characters and the universe it spent so much time building.

Sign the petition, send it around to friends, around Twitter, get the word out even if you don't watch the show.

And thanks to a little help from someone who contacted me with this information, we also have the power to take direct action by contacting TPTB and showing our support for Caprica by telling them precisely why we love it and why it deserves another season. Here are e-mails to send (not hate-mail, but more like "pimping" mail to show that we do want the show to go on).

Email addresses and other contact addresses to use )

Am I crazy for thinking that this could do anything? Perhaps, but it's worked for certain shows in the past so if it worked for them I don't see how crazy it is for us to do the same. I'm not saying there's a high possibility this will do anything, but there's certainly no harm in trying right? We as fans and viewers hold the power, and without using our voices we would never get heard. It depends on how loud our voices are and how much we can change the outcome of this fate.

It's rare, but not impossible.

Acting Outlaws: The LA La Ride on Ustream.

Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff have been doing their motorcycle ride from Los Angeles to Louisiana as part of their charity, Acting Outlaws, which is to help raise awareness of what is happening in our environment due to the oil spill in the Gulf. They are also in association with the Gulf Restoration Network which all donated money will go directly to their cause through Acting Outlaws. Every night since the 21st of October they've been doing live online video chats via Ustream which includes what they did that day during their ride, giving stories and details that often lead to much hilarity, answering fans through the live chat box feed, and just being all around awesome and adorable.

Just when I think I couldn't love them more. Seriously, they are the best. Not only doing this for charity, but we're seeing them being absolutely dorky and not in a celebrity setting either. It's kind of refreshing, and oddly they are even more beautiful without all the makeup and star-treatment. ♥ And really, I don't watch reality television however this is one reality show I would totally watch religiously, not even gonna lie. So seriously folks, if you want to see the adorableness of these two, with their Veev and function water and hearing about the "literally" drinking game going on, and even if you want to find someway to help their cause, go watch their videos stay tuned since they are live-streaming tonight at 7:00pm Pacific time!

(note: originally it had been 8:30 Pacific time, however recently they've been getting on a bit earlier, keep an eye on @actingoutlaws on Twitter for updates)

Here's their first episode the rest are adorable too, however I was particularly amused and laughing until I cried at Katee's hilarious "dawg" story and them realizing their were an hour early for their video-stream! Believe me, you will laugh until you cry too. XD

IN SHORT, SUPPORT ACTING OUTLAWS AND THE GULF RESTORATION NETWORK WITH THESE LOVELY LADIES AND THEM BEING UTTERLY ADORABLE! THEY'LL BRING THE VEEV! ♥

First we had Nathan Fillion's charity of Kids Need To Read, then we have Misha's Random Acts, and now we have Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff launching their own called The Acting Outlaws. There's something about these kinds of actors that create their own charitable organizations in hopes to help others, no matter big or small, that I find so incredibly endearing. It give me hope for this world we live in, because humanitarianism is very attractive to me. So kudos to them and everyone participating in these kinds of charities, and keep it going! ♥

RALLY TO RESTORE SANITY and MARCH TO KEEP FEAR ALIVE!

Anyone who watched the announcements from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report last night knows what I'm talking about. I wish I could attend though, I betcha it's gonna be awesomesauce. *g*

Also, from recent announcements, it appears that Jensen Ackles will be attending Chicago Con, but only for photo ops and autographs. He won't have a panel. I honestly don't really care whether he does attend or not to be honest, but I have a feeling that those who were angry at Jensen for not signing up will be even angrier at him for not appearing at a panel if they cannot get their tickets (even though I suspect he might crash Jared or Misha's panel). This fandom, so ridiculous in itself most sometimes. idek *shakes head*

Petition to have Misha Collins be in season six of Supernatural.

Save Gabriel petition, which was posted directly after "Hammer of the Gods" aired.

Save the Seeker petition in order to give Legend of the Seeker another season. You can also go to SaveOurSeeker.com and find different campaigns, donations and other ways of promoting and supporting the show. Heck, even Terry Goodkind, the author of the Sword of Truth novels which the show is based around, fully gives his support as well. So even with the announcement of it being canceled there's still hope lingering amongst the LOTS fandom.

This is why fandom exists. It might seem like a long-shot to some but, we've proven multiple times that our voices count and can be heard if we band together and make this kind of noise.

Ladies and Gentlemen, after four months of fighting the man and picketing, THE STRIKE IS OFFICIALLY OVER. With 92.5% of the writer's vote (3,492 said yes, 283 said no), there's no doubt about this now: the strike has come to its end. Now the remaining question remains, what will happen to our shows now that it has been decided? Some will be returning this spring with new episodes, others will be postponed until the fall season. Some have uncertain fates due to ratings while others have been axed indefinitely. You can look at this article here to learn more about the futures of your shows. For my favorite fandom, Heroes will be returning this fall. It seems like a long way away, but I think the extended perid between now and that time is a good thing.

Anyway, this strike has placed many things into perspective. Like how we tend to take what happens behind the scenes of our favorite shows for granted, and the hard work these writers do and the headstrong determination to fight for what they believe in. Things may have changed in Hollywood because of this strike, but I firmly believe it is for a good cause. Many people may not like it, and there was a lot sacrificed in this and it's going to be a gradual comeback for many writers with their still-bitter feelings, but in the end it was all worth it.

First of all, anyone that says that the strike is over has got their information backwards. It is NOT OVER, at least not yet. Please don't believe what others are spouting off, especially Michael Eisner says (and I mean, really, you wanna believe Eisner of all people?) The writers are going to meet this weekend to vote on deals and agreements, and then sometime after that will this particular meeting determine the fate of the strike. Again, please do not believe the hype surrounding those who say it is over. It isn't over until someone or reliable sources, like the president of the WGA for example, says it is over; even then, it still won't be all fine and dandy and everything will return the way it was. Just like what Joss Whedon said, there are still bitter feelings and you can't just flip on the emotions like a switch once a deal has been made. Don't give up hope people, just don't believe everything you hear unless it's 100% confirmed straight from the horse's mouth.

I have yet to watch this week's TSCC yet, and I've kind of missed some of House's return. But I have seen some spoilers and, um LOLWUT are these people smoking? ) Oh, and the Jon/Stephen/Conan late night crossover battle: MADE OF WIN.

Loved last night's SPN episode, and what makes everything even better? Is watching Jared and Jensen interviews. They are so adorable. I especially liked the one where Jared is on Ellen, an old taping of the show mind you, but he's retelling his "near death experience" and all that. Cracks me up every time.

You know when I was driving myself crazy when I thought I saw that Mohinder ad? Well, lo and behold! It's an additional project where you can study your dreams, redirecting fans to the Activating Evolution site. I think it's very cute...though making me really craving that Mohinder was someone real so I can contact him and go to his lectures and whatnot and totally would not be a stalker, nope. Hee.

01. From most recent news it appears that the writers and studios are making rapid progress and reports suggest that a settlement may be reached within a week. How legit is this statement and how much are we betting on it? I have no idea, I'm just praying this is true and this isn't another red-herring from unreliable sources. Because seriously not only do I want this strike to end, I want this strike to end with boths sides of the argument coming to a common ground with each other with no loose ends or unpleasantness in the end. I'm sort of waiting for the official word when it IS over with, but this gets me all excited that things are moving along with deals and continue in that direction. *crosses fingers*

02. Sam/Ruby/Dean. My newest OT3. Seriously, Ruby has amazing chemistry with the boys, because she is made of awesome. Don't hate, appreciate, m'kays?

03. Lord help me, I think I may be getting into HIMYM. I blame my sister for this one, the same way I blame her for getting me into NCIS. Barney is HI-LARIOUS to the extreme, just OMG. He is made of awesome too, so many great lines he has that I just love quoting.

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have returned, forced by Viacom/Comedy Central despite the strike still going on. I mentioned before I was torn on whether I should watch it or not, though the good thing is that it airs on the East Coast before it airs here, so I have the opportunity to read people's comments before making my decision. I watched it, and I have to say, I was impressed. It was better than I'd thought it would be and it had a lot of different reactions.

They were bitter, as to be expected. Jon let his bitterness out like whoa, while Stephen, being in character, allowed to have some humor with it all. Not that Jon didn't have humor of course, but I found Jon to really bring it to the table about the WGA and the AMPTP and the whole striking issue which seems to affect everyone now. There was some political talk, because this is TDS/TCR after all, but they both returned to the outstanding issue of them being off air for about two months and why they suddenly were back along with other talk shows out there. Of course, without the writers or any scripts they have to rely on their own jokes and ways of presenting the show, which is difficult because without any of the old segments it just wouldn't be the same (hence the A Daily Show was issued by Jon himself, until the strike is done and over with and the writers were back). Some are commenting on the overloading of bitterness and I completely understand where they're coming from for doing that. And the Moment of Zen with showing the strike happening outside the studio? Wow, that's all I gotta say.

Though my favorite part was when in the beginning Stephen was thoroughly enjoying the prolonged standing ovation the audience was giving him. Hee.

I would feel guilty watching a show that isn't scripted, which would go against my support for the WGA and what the strike stands for, however they are getting the word out in their own bitter fashion which means anyone who is unaware of the strike going on will get educated with loads of information about it. With added snark. So all in all, I am glad they are back and are going off about this whole situation because knowing the Stewart/Colbert team, they didn't take this decision lightly and they won't sit back and calmly accept it on camera either.

Going along with this, the Golden Globes will be a no-show due to the Screen Actors Guild refusing the cross the picket line. This truly shows how this strike is important and how it is affecting Hollywood, and if it isn't resolved soon this will just be the beginning.
