++ Real life has been kicking my ass this month, but it's all good.

++ So, Reddit is currently in a blackout, with thousands of communities having gone private since Monday in protest of the site's newest API policies. While the CEO seems to be dismissing the whole thing, we've all seen this happen before. If you piss off your userbase or don't listen to when they have legitimate complaints, never mind minimizing and trivializing these concerns and the people it is affecting, they will abandon your site and go elsewhere. Already places such as Tumblr and even DW are extending a welcoming hand to Reddit refugees during the blackout protest, which is great, but at the same time it's pretty depressing that this even has to happen. While the place could be a cesspool depending on where one was located (much like anywhere on the Internet, lbr), I'll admit to lurking at certain subreddits, sometimes for the laughs but also for information, advice, and different opinions people had on things. It's also one of the rare places online these days that operates like a forum with different moderators, which is quite concerning since there's been a lot of worry surrounding the future of the Internet because of these particular changes some sites are doing.

Will this blackout, which is essentially a strike, be successful? Will the CEO give in or continue to double down? Only time will tell.

++ I'm absolutely tickled by the fact that House M.D. has made a fandom resurgence, at least on Tumblr anyway. I'm intrigued by what randomly selected older fandom gets resurrected by current fandom platforms. Obviously it's word-of-mouth, and I remember posts circulating about with people giving out of context examples of what shenanigans House (both the show and the character) would get up to, leading to a lot of confusion which at this point has led to people either rewatching or discovering the show for the first time. It's just wild to see, really. I watched House when it aired. Not throughout its entire run, but definitely during the earlier seasons. That was part of my appointment television watching schedule. So witnessing newcomers experience it for the first time, their live reactions, it's been equally amazing and amusing. I'm also seeing an uptick in gifsets and other fanworks for it, too. Which I'm sure already existed, but it's nice to see it coming across my dash.

Firstly, wishing everyone a wonderful and joyful Thanksgiving, whether it be with family and friends or just by yourself or doing nothing at all if you're in non-celebration of this holiday. Without being sappy and giving out lists of things I'm thankful for, I'd like to make the overall observation and say that I am incredibly thankful and grateful that I'd accomplished and gained so much this year; I've done things that I am proud of and have made decisions that I know are the right choices for the direction I want my life to go in, even if others may not feel the same way. I have made amends with some relationships with people and I have grown and seen things with my own eyes, gained a little more perspective in life, and I am thankful for everything I have and the people I share it with.

Okay, that was a little sappy. But oh well, that being said I can't wait until Christmas!

In other things that are good, I has a new printer! More specifically, it's a scanner/copier/printer all in one, very high-tech and way cool. So, yay!

For the rest of the night I'll be lounging, drinking Sparkling Cidar and being in woe that I cannot join in the insanity of Black Friday after-Thanksgiving sales.

Stepping away from the Heroes squee that's been taking over my entries lately, more of my fandoms are returning. Bones and House are returning tonight, though I might just watch the latter since I'm not entirely caught up with Bones quite yet. Also I kind of want to see how the process of picking a new team will turn out, especially we know the Ducklings are still going to be around. Should be very interesting to watch as he chooses his new recruits and if they can handle him and his constant pill-popping insanity. I really want to watch Gossip Girl and I'm possibly the only person left who hasn't seen the pilot episode. I saw the preview and am intrigued, so it might become my guilty pleasure viewing. Heh.

Still watching Unfair at the moment though, and loving every minute of it.

Also, could Jessica Biel become Wonder Woman? This is mainly for the all-star Justice League upcoming picture, but if Warner Bros. decides with Biel she might just be Wonder Woman in the feature film. Y'know, I may like Jessica Biel better than most, but I cannot see her in such a role. I stand firmly in the ground while waving my Morena Baccarin for Wonder Woman flag. If Joss was still in the WW project I have no doubt he would've picked an awesome Wonder Woman and story to tell. I'm curious as how the project will play out and if this casting bit is true or not, depending on accuracy of sources really.

I have this urge to go shopping. Holiday shopping, and I don't know why.

Painkiller Jane gets sacked by SciFi.

In a way I can understand this decision. It's not exactly phenomenal on the level of other sci-fi shows, like Battlestar or Heroes, the promotion for it was minimal which led to a small fanbase, therefore leading to poor ratings. But even while it wasn't up to par with other top-notch shows I still thought it was a good series, had it started out as strongly as it could've been I think it would've drawn more viewers. Ah well, as sad as I am it'll be ending thankfully SciFi isn't like FOX and pulling it altogether, they are finishing up the season until the finale, which is a good call.

In other depressing news, Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison have called off their engagement. Aww, I really liked them together, they were so adorable and would've made pretty babies. Ah well, it seems that they're willing to be still be friends and continue to work on House together, which is all good. Although this'll definitely change perspective on the whole Chase/Cameron relationship within the show, and naturally ridiculous wank ensues because of this news. Because in fandom or at least in the delusional minds of some, Real People = Fictional Characters.

Anyway, wishing both Jennifer and Jesse the best and waiting for what's to come in the upcoming season of House, which is not getting here fast enough!

1. First and foremost, I have to direct people to this powerfully written yet depressing and enraging post. Be forewarned though, the descriptions are highly graphic and disturbing and may not be suitable for all readers, especially those who are sensitive to the topic. Many have probably seen it already, but I'd still like to put it out there for those who've missed it. The worst thing about this is that hate crimes still exists, yet there are officials that do absolutely nothing about it and there are individuals that still think that hate crimes are nonexistent.
