Which tv show cancellation hit you the hardest?

Honestly, there's so many shows that I felt upset about being cancelled, especially ones that ended so prematurely, I could write essays about how they all deserved better. But I think I'll always be bitter and angry about the cancellation of Caprica, the prequel series to Battlestar Galactica. Syfy really mishandled the show right from the start, with the biggest offender being the mid-season extended hiatus which, when they came back, changed the days and time and did little promotion so nobody knew when it actually came back, and that ultimately sealed its unfortunate fate. I loved that show so much, it held so much potential and promise and it was heading into a wonderful direction in expanding the world and these characters and I loved the actors involved and everything, but sadly, despite the massive success of BSG, the network just didn't have enough faith in it.

Following closely to that would be Legend of the Seeker. I had just gotten into the show, literally binge-watched to catch up to its current episodes, before it was announced that it would be cancelled after two seasons. I was just introduced to this fantastically lighthearted and silly but awesome fantasy show that I had fallen in love with instantly, only for it to be taken away. I was incredibly heartbroken. I'm still not over it, to be honest, and a delusional part of me still wants there to be a third season even after all this time.

Lays or Pringles? Hagan Daaz or Ben & Jerrys? Forever 21 or H&M?

While I haven't had either in quite a while, and I have liked both for different reasons, I definitely had a soft spot for Lays due to their barbecue chips, which were heaven to me for a time. Häagen-Dazs all the way, baby. I think it's basically a tie between Häagen-Dazs and Baskin Robbins for favorite ice cream of all time, in my opinion anyway. And Forever 21 has always been one of my favorite places to shop.

++ Natalie Dormer has been cast as Cressida in Mockingjay! Delightful news and excellent casting, in my opinion. Get dem roles, girl. ♥

++ The soundtrack for Caprica finally arrived the other day, two-disc and autographed booklet and all, thereby completing pretty much everything of my BSG media collection. Which makes me sad that there won't be anymore, but proud because I am such a geek about this universe it's actually ridiculous. Anyway, the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous, as usual with anything Bear McCreary does. Next on the list: get the Defiance soundtrack.

++ And because I want to torture myself, I've been looking at all of the Warehouse 13 interviews with all of the cast and creators talking about the final season (or rather final six episodes), and Eddie has been updating his Twitter with pictures and things on their final days shooting and it's kind of heartbreaking. They all thought they would have had at least a little more time, at least more than six episodes. But I think my favorite person in interviews has to be Joanne Kelly, because she both gushes and expresses her genuine love of the show and the characters and her appreciation and gratitude towards the fans. Especially in this interview from SDCC where she talks about Myka and her arc, and discusses things like about Myka's sexuality and her relationship with Helena. Something I wish the show had more time exploring, tbh. But my favorite is this particular interview where, aside from her discussing the love she has for the show and why it's amazing, she gives the most appropriate shade towards Syfy, and it's frakking hilarious and brilliant.

All the actors seem to be in that place of both being ready to let things go but still sad and disappointed that they have limited amount of time to wrap things up. It's an emotional time, but some of them are taking it in stride. Joanne seems to be very genuine and honest when it comes to talking about it, and is very hilarious and adorable when doing so. I'm really gonna miss these bunch of goofs.

Kevin Murphy reveals at SDCC what could have been for Caprica

I'm still very bitter about the cancellation (and I'm feeling the same sting with the fate of Warehouse 13), so just hearing their plans for what we could have seen just makes me sad and angry all over again. It was just never given the proper chance to develop and grow on its own and was royally screwed over by the network in general. And to think, even if the show only lasted two seasons, the second season sounded like it would have been a great segway into Blood & Chrome with their plans on the progression of the beginnings of the First Cylon War. But nope. *sigh*

On the bright side though, the soundtrack for Caprica is now available for purchase! After all this time waiting and wondering if it would ever be released, it's finally out in an exclusive two-disc pack. This beauty will be in my hands soon enough, no doubt.

Another sidenote: Bear McCreary will be composing for Agents of SHIELD. Give this musical genius all the shows already. ♥

Looks like I didn't really miss much regarding Supernatural. Figures. However, I am getting psyched up for 6.15 in case people haven't read my previous post. ^__^

I spent the other day rewatching Haven, the entire first season, and it reminded me just how frakking good the show is. Started out mysterious but kind of lighthearted for the most part, but ended on a darker, mostly serious business where shit got real and it makes me anticipate the second season that'll be airing this summer. It makes me really happy that the show was picked up for another season instead of being canned as the network now seems to love doing to their newer shows. I just hope that it stays this way because I really like Haven and the characters and the mysteries involved. It's one of those rare gems you find that nobody else knows about, and that you want more people watching because you love it that much.

Speaking of Syfy, while I'm still bitter at them for what happened to Caprica, and that I'm sure Blood & Chrome will get the same poor treatment, I'm actually crossing my fingers that Alessandra Torresani gets involved somehow because a.) I adore her and b.) how else are they going to connect the Cylon revolution, considering how Caprica ended?

ALSO...HOW COME NOBODY TOLD ME THAT TRICIA AND KATEE DID THEIR LIVE USTREAM VIDDING JUST A FEW DAYS AGO? I TOTALLY MISSED THEM, AND I TOTALLY WANTED TO ASK QUESTIONS! Oh well, they are adorable anyway regardless and watching the videos makes me love them even more. If that's possible. ♥

HOLY FRAK.

CAPRICA. HOLY FRAK YOU GUYS, CAPRICA.

FRAK YOU SYFY, YOU STUPID MOTHERFRAKKERS. *shakes fist*

Seriously, I will make heavily detailed reviews shortly. All I have to say is had Syfy not been fucking assholes for mistreating the show or at least shown some interest and support of it from the beginning, we could have had at least one more season to really fully explain everything leading up to the inevitable. At least. Because shit got real really fast and it's amazing. Hell, it had been since day one. Those motherfrakkers who don't see that, screw them.

Why is it that the majority of my shows that I love are the ones that are prematurely canceled before their time? Or that nobody sees the value of until it's too late? :(

WHO IS THE PROUD OWNER OF THE GLORIOUS CAPRICA S1.5 DVDS?

THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE! \O/\O/\O/

I am so ecstatically excited to watch the rest of the episodes, however painfully terrified because that would mean it would be the last of the entire series and that just frakking sucks. :( But I've heard that the remaining episodes are frakking fantastic therefore, how can I resist? Will begin watching them tomorrow.

I also got the Battlestar Galactica: The Plan/Razor soundtrack, double-yay!

Apparently there's also a Caprica toaster available? And....I kinda want that, to be honest. Hell, I just want both this and the BSG version toaster it would fulfill my geeky fangirl wishes. Just gimme all the BSG memorabilia there is out there, m'kay? Same with anything/everything Harry Potter. I'm just a greedy person. An incredibly greedy-geeky person. *g*

Oh yeah, I got other things too. New books to read (yay!), including The Complete Enochian Dictionary which I've been looking everywhere and couldn't find it, and finally got it for Christmas (and yes, I do blame SPN for getting me further into the angelical department of my theological curiosities) also more geeking out because I finally have my own copy of Joss Whedon's Fray! \O/ Plus some necessity/practical things that were given to me that some might think boring, but I think they're pretty neat anyway. Hey, I love it when someone buys me socks, especially fuzzy socks. My feet get cold! I'm not complaining one little bit. ;p

Oh, and are Kindles the "in" thing now? I've seen more than several people mention them on my flist today. I'm guessing people are loving the eBooks. Hmmmm.

(P.S. I almost killed myself while driving in the rain this evening. Good times.)

So, I heard that Syfy canceled Stargate Universe recently. I admit I didn't watch the show and had heard certain...things about it from others that prompted me to not really bother with it, including that one bullshit wankery that happened with one of the creators of the show, but I know some people did watch and enjoyed it so believe me, I understand that hearing a show you've been watching has been abruptly canceled is a crushing and devastating feeling. Hell, even the actors discovered this news via Twitter, not even an official announcement or anything. It makes matters more lower than low because of it. :( First with Caprica and now with Stargate Universe, this has gotten me thinking and wondering: has the Syfy Network turned into the new FOX?

Both shows were continuations of their most successful franchises, and the network even stated that they were behind them because of that, and yet they pull shitty stunts like this. I had gotten the impression that Syfy was different in that they cared more about fan reactions than they did ratings, or at least not set high expectations for ratings like other networks do. It seems like I had been deluding myself. I know its the nature of the business, but it seems rather shady to me. Canceling two extensions of particular franchises is not the greatest way of making good with their viewers, just saying.

At least certain shows like Eureka, Warehouse 13 and Haven have been in good graces. Let's just hope it remains that way. Still, I'm not entirely pleased with the Syfy Network these days because of their shitty operations, since they're replacing these canceled shows with motherfucking wrestling. Like, whut? :/

On top of that there's also been certain wanking and anger-filled drama happening in certain communities I'm associated with, some in particular have resulted into victim-blaming and shaming of women and those people not even acknowledging or understanding the offensiveness of their comments. Or if they do, they justify it with an "oh I'm just stating my opinion" excuse and failing to have any kind of empathy whatsoever. It's despicable and disgusting and just, ugh. STOP IT WORLD, JUST STOP.

++ If anyone still would like a Christmas card, please go to this post and give me your address. Also let me know if you want to send me one so I can give you mine. *g*

++ In the midst of finding new fandoms to get attached to, I've come across one that has surprised me. Pretty Little Liars. Has anyone else watched this season so far? It's good, like really good. I haven't read the books, but I really like it so far and the show really does great with the mysteries and the characters and their relationships. I definitely recommend it for those who like teen dramas that have mysteries. Also, [livejournal.com profile] alexwhitman25? I downloaded all of the first season of The Vampire Diaries and will be starting that soon after I finish with Pretty Little Liars. I've also been catching up on the new Hawaii 5-0 and I also like that, too. It's your typical procedural crime show of course, but with Daniel Dae Kim and the lovely Grace Park. Seeing more Asians on my television is a good thing, I mean they had Dichen Lachman in one of the previous episodes. How awesome is that? \O/

++ I also rewatched the third season of Veronica Mars and....I don't understand the negativity people had for it. I thought it was way better than the second season, and actually felt like the first season writing/acting wise, and I'm happy where it ended off, inconclusive probably but with the relationships of characters it was nice, and Veronica had gotten her groove back. So I don't understand the amount of hate it got.

++ Reading articles like this and this make me really pissed off and bitter about what happened with Caprica. For a network that says they are behind the BSG franchise, nothing of what they've done supports such a claim at all. It disappoints and infuriates me, it also makes me even more adamant in fighting against it.

++ HARRY FREAKING POTTER THIS FRIDAY! OMGOMGOMG.

It is almost finally here! Anyone going to the midnight showing? Unfortunately I cannot, however I will be planning on going this weekend for sure and I most certainly am going to be buying a midnight ticket when Part 2 comes out next year. *shaking and crying*

SIGN PETITION TO SAVE CAPRICA AND GET A SECOND SEASON.

Some think it's a lost cause and that it's "beyond saving" at this point. I, however, am remaining optimistic and am incredibly adamant that with bringing the attention to the networks and the TPTB that this is a show many people have watched and have loved since the beginning, and that there is a dedicated fanbase that is disappointed and outraged by this abrupt decision of canceling such a fascinating and intellectually stimulating science fiction drama and that it deserves at least one more season in order to expand the story, its characters and the universe it spent so much time building.

Sign the petition, send it around to friends, around Twitter, get the word out even if you don't watch the show.

And thanks to a little help from someone who contacted me with this information, we also have the power to take direct action by contacting TPTB and showing our support for Caprica by telling them precisely why we love it and why it deserves another season. Here are e-mails to send (not hate-mail, but more like "pimping" mail to show that we do want the show to go on).

Email addresses and other contact addresses to use )

Am I crazy for thinking that this could do anything? Perhaps, but it's worked for certain shows in the past so if it worked for them I don't see how crazy it is for us to do the same. I'm not saying there's a high possibility this will do anything, but there's certainly no harm in trying right? We as fans and viewers hold the power, and without using our voices we would never get heard. It depends on how loud our voices are and how much we can change the outcome of this fate.

It's rare, but not impossible.
