And yes, it's apparently the cartoon episode. )

And in case anyone has missed it: new preview for 8.07, includes some new footage, along with some ~intriguing effects on our angel.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen them already.... )

As for the sneak peeks everyone seems to be freaking out about, I'm actually not that worried about it? With all the interviews and general overview of what this season is going to be exploring, I'm mostly neutral and optimistic about where the story direction is heading. Every character is going to be going through something, giving their arcs some individual attention separately from one another and yes, that means some of them will go through the wringer because of it. But I'm positive all will come together by the end of the season regardless. Besides, Carver has already stated a while back that nothing is what it appears to be, which means that what happened in Purgatory, and in turn what happened to Castiel, is going to be the mystery that will be gradually revealed for at least the first half of the season.

Aside from that, I'm also very pleased with the casting of the new group of characters that will be introduced this season, particularly with the new angel. Now that was a pleasant surprise I didn't see coming.

Joss Whedon created Angel as a spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And while I know there were certain opinions regarding the differences between the two shows, there was a level of development of the characters that transferred from BTVS to Angel. They actually underwent some fascinating character growths and transformations that wouldn't have happened had they remained on BTVS, since they would have been minor characters and, not that minor characters didn't have growth over there, but on Angel it was a different level of development. The transition from one to another really did help these characters to have such rich material (Angel, Cordelia, Wesley and Faith respectively) that otherwise wouldn't have been thoroughly explored had they remained on BTVS.

So why can't the same happen for Castiel from Supernatural?

Judging from the comments that have been made, not just from today via the recent interviews but in general, there is a massive split between the fandom about whether the show should have characters like Castiel staying or that it should always be about the brothers and no one else. The show has always been neglectful with their minor characters, many of which had much potential and they just never fully developed them or took advantage of such amazing opportunities. Having a spin-off would bring those opportunities to life that the show wouldn't even consider, let alone allow them to have. Which doesn't make sense since SPN isn't even a huge ensemble show anyway so this shouldn't be a common occurrence of abandoning/killing off characters just for the because factor, but I digress.

Castiel is a fan favorite, the majority of the fandom fell in love with him the moment he was introduced and have been rallying, campaigning and showing love and support for him ever since. You'd think that they would take the hint that perhaps people want more Castiel elsewhere instead of on the show where his storylines often get pushed off-screen. And since this is all about the money nowadays, this would double their chances at more viewership and the ratings, which is precisely what the network wants.

I mean come on, if the Ghostfacers can have their own webseries I'm sure Castiel can most definitely have his own spin-off. I'm just saying.

Castiel is the Aziraphale to Crowley's...Crowley. )

Oh, and semi-related, does anyone know where I can get me some Romo Lampkin icons? I've been trying to find some in the BSG communities but no avail yet. :(

Castiel is such a puppy.

(Or alternatively, the angelical equivalent of a direwolf, but still a puppy all the same)

He gives unconditional love and just wants to please those he cares about. Everything he's done, he's done for Dean, because of Dean. While with current circumstances has forced him to make certain questionable and regrettable decisions, he is still fiercely loyal and protective of his humans, as it's ever-so present throughout 6.20. And when they are mean to him, he gives them that sad look on his face like a puppy does when you're scolding them. Even when they shut him out he comes back, wanting so desperately for his human to understand him.

WHY WON'T SOMEONE GIVE HIM A HUG ALREADY? JFC. :(

BTW, everyone needs to check out [livejournal.com profile] alexwhitman25's Dean/Castiel 6.20 picspam since it really demonstrates so vividly how this episode was truly such a heartbreaking love story between those two. Creys, you'll have them. Hell, even if you don't watch Supernatural you should see this picspam, just to see why I love how beautifully angsty these two are. ♥

That awkward moment when fandom starts overreacting and you're just sitting there, shifting your eyes back and forth wondering if everyone is on crack... )

Sorry for the long-winded rant. I just have lots of feelings regarding this, okay? Plus I'm worried, I'm biting my nails for these last few episodes of the season because it literally is the "make it or break it" for me with this show as a whole, and it all depends on this one character who I deeply am attached to.

Everyone's been freaking out about it, or rather the vagueness of what the spoilers concerning the finale could possibly mean. I myself have been kind of staying away from the majority of the fandom freak-out because it adds more anxiety than necessary. But that doesn't stop me from forming my own thoughts and opinions on the finale itself and what could possibly happen.

Speculated thoughts and theories about the finale, so obviously spoilers )

Those are my thoughts as of right now. Feel free to add your own input or concerns or theories into the mix.

Also, I'm currently dog-sitting for the weekend and haven't been able to get to the Internet for a long period of time because the puppy is rather rambunctious and the only time he's ever calm is when he's sleeping/tired, which is usually when I am sleepy and tired myself from chasing the little thing around and making sure there are no "accidents" in the house. So I might not be able to reply immediately as I usually do because of this responsibility, but I'll do my best whenever I have a free moment.
