Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?
Once Upon A Time, The Fades, The Vampire Diaries, Revenge, Ringer, Falling Skies, The Borgias, Case Histories, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who (once again)

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?
The only one that comes to mind is Supernatural, though that was a long time in the making really. I started losing interest last year/season and I guess this year finalized my departure of the whole thing altogether, for my own sanity. I find myself retreating to better, healthier things that doesn't end up in getting migraines from being enraged more often than I should be getting from the stupidity that is coming out from that show.

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
There's quite a handful actually, and the only excuse is that I'm kinda lazy and haven't gotten around to it yet. This explains why I am also behind on some of the shows I am currently watching as well.

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?
This coincides with the question above. I'm definitely going to be checking out American Horror Story, since I've been hearing good things about it. Lost Girl, Downtown Abbey, Terra Nova, Homeland, Modern Family.....just a shitload of things I've been meaning to get around to checking out but haven't yet. As for new shows that will be premiering in 2012, Awake with Jason Isaacs, because you know that shit is going to be fucking amazing. Like, my body is already ready for it, you have no idea.

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?
Nothing really comes to mind, to be honest.

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?
Glee. Now let me explain, I've never been impressed with Glee. I tried watching it before and it wasn't what I expected it to be, so I dropped it, and never watched an entire episode since. Of course my interest peaked because of two things: Santana Lopez and Brittana. I've been keeping tabs on the show mostly for those things. Unfortunately, the show has not delivered on that front. It shouldn't be surprising, given that this is Glee we're talking about, but I think I've been least impressed with their handling of Santana's storyline (it could have been better without Finn getting away with his asshole behavior while Santana has suffer the consequences for everything) and not having anything Brittana whatsoever. I guess that kinda counts since while I don't watch the show, I am very invested in their storylines and when a show doesn't give a shit about decent character storylines (or potentially amazing storylines if they put in the effort in creating one) it offends me.

Other than that, there really hasn't been any other show that has impressed me the least this year. Excluding SPN because that's a given anyway.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
Oh, that's kind of hard. I would stop watching anything if they got overbearingly crappy, but I'd say Doctor Who, Haven, Once Upon A Time, and Warehouse 13. They are my feel-good, happy-times kind of shows that are ridiculous and heartfelt and make me smile. Unless they cross the line into irredeemable crappiness, I will never stop watching them.

Day 30 - Saddest character death

Here there be tears and sadness... ;__; )

Masterlist of COMPLETED days here.

Meme is now finished! I feel like doing another 30 days challenge because this was fun.

I really need to catch up on Warehouse 13, but I caught last night's episode and behold, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher were on it! It was like a Firefly reunion with the possible AU of what Simon and Kaylee would've been in the future together or something and just, d'awww. Such a shiny surprise, let me tell you. It me really hoping for more possibilities of cast reunions in this manner. \O/

Day 29 - Current TV show obsession

Right now it's a tie between Supernatural and Legend of the Seeker.

Supernatural I've been with for the last four seasons now, from the second season which is where I first started watching the show. Although some may know that I'm still kind of torn on where I stand about the show as of right now and my opinions about the direction it's taking. That may change when the new season starts, I don't know. And of course I immediately was hooked onto Legend of the Seeker which has been my recent newest obsession. I consider LOTS to be something that gives me what some shows haven't done lately, which is that feeling of satisfactory fulfillment with the story and the characters and a great kind of escapism. Of course, I've already gushed about the show before and probably will continue to do so in the future, but yeah. Those are my current television obsessions as of right now. Things are most likely to change though depending, since my obsessions and objectives change constantly. Especially with all the other shows I have on my queue, it's only a matter of time before another new obsession kicks in.

Runner Up: Caprica. While I do love the show so far it's taking far too long to finish the first season due to this unnecessary midseason hiatus. So I really can't say it's an obsession yet, but it's getting there.

Day 28 - First TV show obsession

Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I'm not crediting the previous shows I watched as a kid because I got attached to some shows then easily. However when it comes to shows that I continued to watch season after season all the way to the end, Buffy was definitely the first television obsession I had regarding that. I started watching during its third season and I didn't stop until it ended at the seventh. I grew attached to the characters, to the story, and to the universe that was created. The show had its many ups and downs, things that I didn't like, and yet I kept with it. It's also because of Buffy that I was introduced to the online fandom in the first place, actually.

No matter what Buffy the Vampire Slayer will always be my first big fandom love, right next to Harry Potter. ♥

Day 27 - Best pilot episode

Teenage cyborg protectors, the human race on the run from their machine creations, those just trying to get by out in the black, and a post-apocalyptic future where electromagnetic pulses aren't really caused by the Stonehenge... )

Um, so apparently Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams are going to be sharing a panel together at Comic Con? This is what happens when fandom S'PLODES WITH FANGASMS. This, I think, is going to be the most explosive panel. I have to look through what the other guests are for all the other days but, seriously, who can't wait to see what comes from this panel with them? :D Oh, and it seems that Fred Phelps and his craycray religious followers are going to be protesting at Comic Con this year because of us heathens "idolizing comic book characters" instead of God. The shenanigans from this is gonna be gold!

Also, Nathan Fillion tweeted this with the cryptic message: "together again." WHAT DOES THIS MEAN YOU GUYS?! OH NATHAN YOU BIG TEASE.

Day 26 - OMG WTF? Season finale

As long as you offer no resistance, you won't be harmed. )

Runner Ups: "Crossroads, Part 2" from Battlestar Galactica because, well duh. Definitely in that what the frak? category because of all these revelations that were given, especially the pull away in the end through the galaxy. Absolutely phenomenal. Oh, and I gotta give a shoutout to the S1 finale of Supernatural, simply because that ending was so shocking it leaves you wondering what is going to happen to these characters, especially had the show not been picked up.

I hope all my lovely Americans had a wonderful Independence Day yesterday. I, for one, didn't really do any celebrating for the 4th of July only because we usually do so with relatives when we're all together. But since we all have different schedules and they're all over the place now, I just spent the majority of the day at home and trying to calm my dog from freaking out over the huge booms of the fireworks.

Oh, and y'all need to see this: "It All Ends Here" ;___;

It's the most beautiful and depressing movie posters I have seen, I absolutely love it. Of course this actually made my chest tighten because I really don't want it to be over, even though I know it's never the end. But at the same time, it is. I can't explain it, okay? Harry Potter has been my life for many years, even if I'm not actively in fandom anymore it still is a part of me. I'm thinking about many a grand HP post at some point, really kind of reliving how I got into the series in the first place, the impact it's made on my life and the fabulous people I have met through it. And it's so funny, because I haven't talked about Harry Potter on my journal for some time, and yet with the final movie coming really close it's really sparked something inside of me to revisit it again.

In case anyone hasn't heard about it, [livejournal.com profile] hp_commonroom is where you can relive the series again. I just joined, but it's great to see so many people being enthusiastic about the books. It's kind of like, I've forgotten how amazing it is. It's almost like going to the midnight release parties all over again!

Day 25 - A show you plan on watching (old or new)

Right now all my major shows are on hiatus or it seems like they might be in their last season come this next seasonal run (or that I might consider leaving if things turn to shit...), and it's kind of sad that I don't have enough to watch these days. So I'm definitely looking for other shows to watch and I've had some on a list already that I've been meaning to check out.

Forgive me, I have quite a few that's on my queue... )

Other shows include: Community, which is a new show that I've seen people rave about, Band of Brothers and Jericho and mostly that's because Richard Speight Jr. is in them, and I plan on watching everything he was in for the sake of it, lol. Nevertheless I've heard great things about both shows, so I'll certainly be looking forward to testing them out. I've also been meaning to watch Deadwood, too. Oh, and Merlin, since post-Legend of the Seeker I need to fill that fantasy-based void, you know?

Wow, that's a lot of shows right there. I didn't realize how much I wanted to see until I wrote it all out, heh. And hey, if anyone else has any other recommendations, feel free to drop them by. I'm willing to give anything a chance if it strikes my interest.

Day 24 - Best quote
"You know, when we fought the Cylons, we did it to save ourselves from extinction. But we never answered the question, why? Why are we as a people worth saving? We still commit murder because of greed, spite, jealousy. And we still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything that we've done. Like we did with the Cylons. We decided to play God, create life. When that life turned against us, we comforted ourselves in the knowledge that it really wasn't our fault, not really. You cannot play God then wash your hands of the things that you've created. Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore."

~ Commander William Adama, Battlestar Galactica miniseries
When thinking about the best quotes I felt which one would be the most memorable and powerful to speak to everyone, and this is the first one that came to mind. It might be a bit cliche because I'm using BSG a lot for this particular meme, but I felt that this speech really speaks out on that universal level of what is occurring in our world now, and in our history in general. Adama's speech in the miniseries pretty much says everything of what the entire show demonstrates on that deeper level, a forewarning message about who we are as a people and what we need to learn from our mistakes.

Out of all the powerful quotes BSG had, and believe me there are plenty of them, I felt this needed to be placed here. Because it rings so true to the world we live in today.

Day 23 - Most annoying character

There are plenty of characters that I find annoying in almost all my fandoms, so it really depends. There are certain characters that are annoying mostly due to how a particular actor portrays them, or how they're written, sometimes even both. Sometimes it's not even a character I dislike, it can just be the direction the writers chose for a season or storyline or whatever. And honestly, it would take forever to really list the names of characters that I found the most annoying in all these fandoms that I have, so I'll just leave it at this because it could turn into a huge ranting post if I did. Besides, if you know me and are familiar with my opinions on certain fandoms, I'm sure y'all know which characters I find irritating and annoying, so I really don't need to get into that today. *g*

Okay, everyone knows that I don't do spoilers unless my curiosity gets the better of me and I seek them out myself. Well, there's been one particular spoiler that I couldn't avoid.

Possible spoilers for SPN S6 )

Other than that, I've been rewatching the first season Dark Angel, because it's been forever since I've watched it and I suddenly had an itching to view it again. I think it's interesting how many people now have started watching it from the second season rather than the first all because of Jensen Ackles. Which yeah, he was great in it, but I prefer the first season much better since I think it flowed more smoothly, mythology-wise. The second season introduced many new elements that were hardly finished, and it leaves me wondering had they not been canceled would those mysteries be resolved? I think the first season was simple enough that it had a mythology element that wasn't too complicated, but it was just right to keep you intrigued in what was going on. Also, as a personal observation, Jessica Alba seemed happier and healthier during the first season.

That's just my own take on it, anyway. Love the show as a whole, but the first season really remains my favorite due to that.

Day 22 - Favorite series finale

There must be some way out of here, said the Joker to the Thief.... )

Runner Up: I have to give an honorable mention to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series finale, because whether or not one's opinion is regarding the seventh season as a whole the series finale really truly was spectacular in its own right. It wasn't really an end, but it was satisfactory to the entire legacy of the Slayer and it was very empowering and made a huge impression on me, personally.
