++ I didn't get to see the solar eclipse because, well, I kinda slept through it, lol. But it wasn't like there was much to see anyway from our end, I don't think. I've been enjoying the pictures and videos from others, though.

++ I just read that Tim Kring is going to, once again, reboot Heroes that will be called Heroes: Eclipsed and, I don't know, I kinda laughed when I saw the announcement.

Here's the thing, I wouldn't necessarily mind another chance for the concept of the show to be redone in some way, focusing on entirely new characters and going on a completely different journey, but I would rather have it be done by anyone else except for Tim Kring. He has proven time and time again that he isn't good at this kind of storytelling, particularly since, IIRC, he wasn't much of a fan of superhero comics. That might've since changed, but it's very telling. Listen, I adored Heroes when it first premiered, I remember being so hyped after seeing the promos for it and the tagline ("Save The Cheerleader, Save The World") and the actual tie-in comics that were published, it was such an event to the point where they even did a world tour after the first season to celebrate. It was unlike anything anyone had seen at the time, which is why the first season blew up the way it did. But from season two onward it just went downhill and continued to decline. I'd never fallen in and out of love for a show as fast as I did with Heroes. I was only active in that fandom for a brief moment before I finally peaced out after season two.

Could this reboot be good? It's a possibility. Personally though, I didn't pay attention when Kring did the revival in 2015 with Heroes Reborn, so it's unlikely I'll check this one out. Besides, there is a lot more superpower-based shows available now than there were in 2006, I can just get that fix elsewhere.

Anyone remember Heroes? Seriously, what the fuck happened to that show?

I suddenly got the urge to marathon the first season (aka The Only Season That Matters) and seriously, what happened that made everything just go completely downhill after that? The show had much potential and it clearly shows that they had something going for them, but it got lost after the first season ended. I mean seriously, the mysteries kept you guessing, the characters and their stories were engaging and not stupidly annoying or overexposed as they became later on, and they actually had a plot, which was immediately retconned seasons after. Things actually made sense with the build-up they were doing rather than the actual reasoning they attempted to do in the following seasons. Which is why I consider S1 the Golden Season, since it truly is the only one that matters and I just block everything else that came after it. But seriously though, how could something that started off so good end up becoming so horribly bad and unwatchable? I just doesn't make sense.

Of course, this isn't news to anyone who has had me friended for a long while. I used to be a huge Heroes fan. Like, I fell in love instantly. I also fell out of that love just as fast. It's a reminder of how publicity and popularity can get to a creator's head, inflating it, thus ruining everything. I'm just happy that the actors have moved on, gaining their dignity back especially after how some were treated on that show. -___-

Still, the first season remains the best and I feel no shame in watching that like I do with the others. I just get pangs of nostalgia, wondering the what could have been with this show.

Day 11 - A show that disappointed you

Something about a cheerleader and saving the world, an asexual serial killer who repairs watches, a flying politician, and some guy with ~supah powah~ emo!bangs )

Masterlist of days here.

Interestingly there's going to be a new NBC fall show, The Cape, which seems to be a replacement for Heroes in a sense, except it looks to have an actual story and plot. And it'll have Summer Glau involved which, anything with Summer is guaranteed to be something worthwhile so, yay. Let's hope the show is what it appears to be from the trailer.

But what's this I hear about them thinking of rebooting Alias? I didn't watch the show but from my understanding it's only been five years since it ended, isn't that too early to start thinking about a reboot?

It seems like the entire fandom is in a general consensus regarding what happened in the finale, which isn't surprising and it makes me glad that everyone is on the same page, but it has me worried, since we know Kripke and Co. pay attention to what fans are saying. What will their reactions be once seeing how we generally feel about it? How will this affect the show next season? Will they realize they fucked up, made mistakes, attempt to fix it, a.k.a. Kripke deciding to come back to fix his baby before it all falls apart?

More of my thoughts concerning the finale and the fifth season in general )

I'm not ready to really write a proper review yet, since I'm still in this confused and baffled haze where coherency just isn't working right now. My mind is filled with mixed feelings over everything that I don't know how or what to feel, but I've been reading other people's thoughts and further opinions so I'm glad I'm not alone in this department. *hugs everyone* I'll probably get over this like, you know, in a week or something.

But um, good news? Heroes has been officially canceled. Long overdue, but still. \O/ At least the actors can go elsewhere getting jobs that will respect them and not waste their talents. Now can somebody explain to me why the fuck Smallville still exists and is getting a tenth season? O_o

LOL HEROES FANDOM, LOL.

If we're going to be brutally honest here, Heroes has been long overdue for cancellation, and while I get some people still do watch/enjoy the show for whatever reason, the amount of ridiculous defensiveness this person has in saying it's "teh best show evah!" is just laughable.

In more serious business, I'm sure everyone's well aware from the massive tragedy that occurred in Haiti, which the more I read and look upon what happened the sadder I become. However, fandom is doing something about this by means of [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, a place to raise money in help for the recovery of the damage the earthquake has caused. Also, those that follow Misha's Minion Stimulus he has a UNICEF fund where you can donate in help for this cause (which so far has raised over $15,000 within two days!)

This just warms my heart. Despite the wanks and unnecessary drama it creates, fandom can really come together and make a difference in times of crisis like this, offering help to those in need and it's this that makes me really love being part of fandom as a whole. *g* We're awesome.

++ HAPPY SUPERNATURAL DAY, EVERYONE! Are they going for a hiatus after this, if I'm hearing correctly? I know some shows are being preempted for like baseball games and whatnot, but as far as with the CW I don't know. Anyone know?

++ What is up with Stargate Universe getting all this promotion? I mean, new show sure that's all fine and great in getting the word out, but was there this kind of heavy promotion for the other Stargate shows? Somehow I feel like they're milking it wayyy too much. I mean, where was this promotion and advertisement for Battlestar Galactica, or for Dollhouse or even Supernatural? Right now I'm getting so sick of seeing all this SGU floating around. We need this kind of advertisement for shows like SPN where it hardly gets that kind of media recognition. Just saying.

++ Heroes is made of major fail. But what else is new, right? I just can't believe they would have the audacity to do something like that to anyone, actor or not. That's just cold and low. *shakes head*

++ Looks like Tricia Helfer and Grace Park are in Maxim Magazine together. You can take a look here for the outtakes of their photoshoot (kinda NSFW but not really, if you're familiar with Maxim).

I love our First Family, so fucking much. How can anyone hate on them? Lookit the adorableness of their little family, the girls welcoming their daddy home, hugs and smiles and just, omg. From all the nastiness and mind-numbing debates in politics right now, this has me melting and filled with warm fuzzies all over. ♥

Also, further proof that Barack Obama is a complete and total dork, and we love him for it. ♥ ♥ ♥

I caught up with watching a sneak peek at the upcoming season of Heroes, out of mild curiosity since I am no longer watching the show. Honestly, I don't know what to think. Given the amount of fail the show has given last season with ruining of characters, and now it seems that Mohinder is hardly going to be featured, if at all, this fourth season, I have little hope the show will become what it used to be a la first season. And I don't mean it should go back to that, but at least keep with consistent storylines and not rectonning everything just because they have a "new flashy idea of a plot!" I'm over this show, although strangely I just keep looking at what is coming next because, really, Heroes has turned into the lulzy trainwreck. I can't help but mock from the sidelines.

I have nothing else to say but OMG GLEE! :D And SUPERNATURAL TOMORROW, YAY! \O/ And Sendhil Ramamurthy will be on Friday's Psych, whoo-hoo!

AVOIDING ALL SPOILERS FROM COMIC CON! AVOIDING ALL SPOILERS FROM COMIC CON!

Well, most of them anyway. I've been doing my best of avoiding accidentally being spoiled regarding certain shows, Supernatural and Dollhouse respectively, from all the Comic Con reports being written. It's difficult because there are so many temptations about reading something and hearing what others have to say about them, but I'm staying strong and refusing despite the irresistible temptation to look. Thankfully nothing's been spoiled to me because I have a very considerate friends list (ilu guys, seriously). I've only caught just the non-spoilery reports on how the actors have been at the panels and the funny stories that ensue, and did everyone else see the video David Boreanaz sent in apologizing for not being about to attend? So adorable.

And how can anyone forget the JOHN BARROWMAN/DAVID TENNANT KISS?! Come on now. ♥

However, I did catch up one what Kring has to say about Heroes next season despite not being interested in the show anymore: and here is what I think of them in a tl;dr mini-rant )

I may seem a bit bitter but after what they've done to the show I don't think my feelings are going to change unless, by some miracle, the show proves me wrong that it actually can be decent enough to be redeemed in my eyes. But I don't think it will to be honest, and I have a strong feeling this will probably be the last season as far as Heroes is concerned. I'm just saying, and quite frankly I think it would be better if it did end after this season.

So, um, yeah. Staying away from Comic Con news is close to impossible particularly since it's everywhere on LJ, I mean even if you didn't attend how can you not miss it? Besides spoilers that is, which I AM STILL AVOIDING FOR MY MAIN FANDOMS AND EXPECT ALL THE CONSIDERATION TO CONTINUE FOR SPOILERFREE PPL LIKE ME, KTHX! Otherwise, if there are edited/despoiled reports out there bring them on bbs!

Expanding my meta-reading I had recently picked up Terminator and Philosophy, which came out earlier this year I believe as it mentions all the films, sans T4, along with TSCC and much to my satisfaction plenty of analytical essays, some I agree with some I don't, at least in terms of how the author of some has written them, but overall an amazing read so far. I am addicted to the Pop Culture and Philosophy series, if you couldn't tell. That one adds to the pile alongside my Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy: Knowledge Here Begins Out There, and I'm thinking about getting the other BSG philosophy book titled Mission Accomplished or Mission Frakked? I don't care which edition came out first, the more essays to compare and contrast the better I say.

That and I'm really looking for new reading material this summer. Heh.

And it appears that Bryan Fuller is going to be leaving Heroes, again. Wish I could say I'm surprised. But I'm not. Quite frankly judging from the lackluster in everything that show has been lately, my best bet is that this next season will probably be its last. Because really, what creative direction, if any, are they going in and do they even have a plan anymore?

I'm...also kind of really anticipating Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to finally come out, after much of the prolonged postponement. Anyone else with me?

++ Apparently my sleep schedules gone whacked for reasons stated previously in my RL post, I don't know whether it's insomnia or I'm oversleeping via naps and I have just screwed myself over from that entirely. And you know those nights where you're trying to fall asleep but just can't no matter how hard you try? Yeah, just had one of those nights. Not fun. Le sigh.

++ WONDER GIRLS will be making their American debut! First BoA and now Wonder Girls? I'm liking this sudden change of pace of Asian artists making their headway into the Western music scene, and this has me hoping that they'll collaborate together. The unfortunate thing is they'll be touring with the freaking Jonas Brothers. Srsly JYP, the JoBros? Srsly? I'm sorry, but WONDER GIRLS >>>> JOBROS ANYDAY. They are way too classy for that shit. Nevertheless though, it's the marketing strategy to gain more audiences here which I understand, and judging from the articles coming out with this news they are suggesting that the girls won't be changing their style other than translating their lyrics from Korean to English, so that's good. Hopefully they'll break out onto their own after getting their first exposure to the American audiences, and I'm sure they will. 'Cause they are just that amazingly fierce like that.

++ New fandoms are shiny and fun. I've just started getting into Numb3rs (I know, where've I been right?) and kinda loving it actually. The Big Bang Theory is too hilarious for words, like really. I've also just started watching the Korean drama 90 Days, Falling In Love Days which is a drama dealing with the taboo of two first cousins falling in love in something like a Romeo and Juliet drama story in a sense. I've just begun and am on the second episode, but so far I'm liking it, even if the subbing sucks ass. More on new fandoms discovered for later when I have something coherent to say about them.

++ Reading spoilers for Heroes next season and I have to say, I'm not entirely impressed. It seems like the same-old schtick they've been doing for the last three seasons now, aside from the casting spoilers that have been announced. I don't know, not enthusiastic to be honest.

++ MISHA COLLINS MANIPPED HIMSELF! Everyone's seen this already but I don't care, it's worth reposting again and again because it's MISHA FUCKING COLLINS AND HE FUCKING MANIPPED HIMSELF INTO A PICTURE WITH HIS CRAZY TWITTERING!! ♥ ♥ ♥ When he said he was a fangirl in disguise, he certainly wasn't lying. Oh Mish Mish, how did we ever deserve someone like you? ♥
