First we had Nathan Fillion's charity of Kids Need To Read, then we have Misha's Random Acts, and now we have Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff launching their own called The Acting Outlaws. There's something about these kinds of actors that create their own charitable organizations in hopes to help others, no matter big or small, that I find so incredibly endearing. It give me hope for this world we live in, because humanitarianism is very attractive to me. So kudos to them and everyone participating in these kinds of charities, and keep it going! ♥

RALLY TO RESTORE SANITY and MARCH TO KEEP FEAR ALIVE!

Anyone who watched the announcements from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report last night knows what I'm talking about. I wish I could attend though, I betcha it's gonna be awesomesauce. *g*

Also, from recent announcements, it appears that Jensen Ackles will be attending Chicago Con, but only for photo ops and autographs. He won't have a panel. I honestly don't really care whether he does attend or not to be honest, but I have a feeling that those who were angry at Jensen for not signing up will be even angrier at him for not appearing at a panel if they cannot get their tickets (even though I suspect he might crash Jared or Misha's panel). This fandom, so ridiculous in itself most sometimes. idek *shakes head*

I've kind of been following the Chicago Con thing on tumblr. I think the fans should just be glad he's attending at all. He could have decided not to even do the signing/photo op. The fans attending should just consider themselves lucky to be attending the con while so many of us don't have/haven't had an opportunity.

And even though this will be my third convention, I have yet to even meet or speak with Jared or Jensen because unless some miracle happens, I will never get a Golden or Silver package and probably will never ever pay separately for autographs or photo ops with them because those are expensive like, whoa. So all those that continually do that at every convention should be utterly grateful either way.

Honestly, they should be grateful and appreciative that he is going to be there instead of being in self-righteous pissy mood. They're already so lucky to be attending while some of us are halfway around the world and can't even go.

Seriously. It irritates me that people would be so ungrateful. Did it ever occur to them that there is life outside of those conventions for the actors? That Jensen has been appearing at these things and may just have something else going on, other commitments, or just the fact that life happens? I mean really now fandom, be more sensible than that.

ME TOO OMG. It's just a hopeful wish though because I know realistically I can't, but you know it's gonna be freaking awesome anyway. \O/

I mainly stay on the fringes of fandom anyway. Seeing the bigger parts go ballistic over those kinds of things, whether it's something happening within fandom or something like this for example, is kind of scary and it makes me ponder why I continue to associate myself with this craycray fandom. And then I look at the saner parts of it and that's reminder enough. ;)

Exactly. There's no obligation for him to even be attending at all, he probably didn't know his schedule would be like and didn't want to get fans hopes up if he had to make an inconvenient exit from the event last minute (which all tickets to Creation Entertainment conventions aren't refundable) and seeing already the line up they probably couldn't fit him in anywhere for panel time.

Some people just want everything their way. I'm happy he's attending, though I've never ever even spoken to either Jared or Jensen and unless some miracle happens probably never will (because I is broke D:).

Basic entitlement of the fans, really. Which is ridiculous because it's not like he's obligated to even go, he could be doing something else. I'll be honest in that I didn't really think of much when he wasn't signed up before. I just thought if he didn't sign on he probably had other commitments to attend to. Which is understandable. So consider it a blessing that he's making a ~surprise~ appearance or whatever.

I didn't even know about Nathan's charity. I'm busy with Random Acts and I don't think I could concentrate on more than one organisation but I totally agree, doing something like this makes every single one of these actors even more awesome in my eyes. Those guys are restoring my faith in humanity. &hearts

I love these kinds of actors and celebrities that do something like this, and it's always the actors I love that are founding these organizations and helping out in their own way. I remember Nathan talking very passionately about his charity at several conventions and interviews, and we all know about Misha and his involvement with Random Acts. And now Tricia and Katee and doing something with what they love (motorcycling) and what they're passionate about, which is the environment and helping in that sense. It's like, why can't the entire world follow with this example?

I don't get it either. The entitlement is rather ridiculous, and I just remember some people were complaining about Jensen not signing up months ago, and it's like....O_o He probably has a LIFE, you know? I know right? Especially since at panels they seem to answer the same kinds of questions over and over again, and it must get tiring to repeat the same stories and explain how they don't read fanfiction time and again to fans. I mean, this is why I'm thinking about asking questions that nobody has asked them before at panels, I don't want to embarrass them or fandom in general.

I would be happy just to get autographs and a photo op, to be honest. Of course I would be happier to spend some more time talking to these actors one-on-one, but you know. ;)

I've come up with several actually. I make sure to have many backups in case one of my questions gets asked before I get a chance to get to the mic (that happened at last year's Chicon, I was like REALLY PEOPLE YOU CHOOSE NOW TO BE ORIGINAL?? lol)

I really want Misha to sign something different. It's always been a bought picture from the con itself. I'm thinking of drawing like a little chibi!Castiel (maybe with a little chibi!Dean on the side, idk) and asking him to sign that. lol, I'm so unoriginal in that department. I really need for him to sign something else.
