Barack Obama: "I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married."

While it isn't news that Obama has been for gay rights, this is the first time a United States President has announced publicly in favor of marriage equality.

Four for you, Obama. ♥

These are just some of recent issues concerning the attack on women's rights that have been happening over the last several weeks, and this isn't even the tip of the iceberg of this fight women are going through here in the States. What's deeply disturbing is how women's rights are continually being fought over in this day and age, and how anyone can think it's morally okay to deny basic human rights from someone just because of their gender. Or their sexual orientation or their ethnicity, for that matter. But that is precisely what has been happening, and it's been happening for quite some time now.

And why is this? Because of men.

Old white conservative men are enforcing these laws, making these restrictions and attempting to limit women having control over their own body autonomy. They make it so they can be completely invasive over women's privacy, often forcing, manipulating, humiliating and shaming them in the process and hiding behind religious statements that unfortunately is a huge manipulating tool for these people since they are pandering to those with similar mindsets, and it just spreads like poison. These men feel so threatened by women that they feel the only way to control them is by taking away their rights, and because the unfortunate truth is that us women are still considered a minority, still having to prove ourselves worthy to be in the same ranks and treated with respect by our male counterparts, they are still able to take away our rights and limiting access to things that we need (ex. birth control, Planned Parenthood, sex education, etc.)

The thing is this isn't just about abortion. It's about the right to body autonomy. It's about right of getting proper education and information on something so we can make our own decisions for ourselves. It's about the right to be treated equally, to be allowed to work, to fight, to stay at home, to make our own choices about the lives we want to live without anyone threatening otherwise.

At the end of the day, no matter what your personal opinion is on a certain issue, you have no right to impose on the choice of another. End of story.

I just read Troy Davis' message and close to tears. It's sickening thinking that we're still fighting for human rights in regards of people being in love and having the equality of loving that person legally, however nobody is giving a damn about the corruption of the justice system and execution of an innocent man.

How is any of this right? How is the world completely unjust and unbalanced?

I just can't. :(

01. GAY MARRIAGE FINALLY LEGALIZED IN NEW YORK

This is yet another uplifting emotional and memorable moment to go down in history. Just reading all the celebratory posts yesterday made my heart swell with happiness, particularly the comments from citizens of New York saying that they finally feel recognized as people and human beings, also seeing some pictures of elderly gay couples who finally have the right to marry their significant other -- never mind the fact that Neil Patrick Harris and his partner just proposed to each other and are now properly engaged? TEARS OF JOY STREAMING DOWN MY FACE. Obviously we still have a long way to go for marriage equality and recognition for the LGBT community, but we're definitely heading in the right direction. ♥

02. Casting news for Game Of Thrones that I'm certain some Tudors fans will like..... :D

03. After much campaigning and pleading from many for years, finally they have answered our prayers: classic 90s Nickelodeon is returning on TeenNick!

This had me going all nostalgic, recalling the memories I had when I was watching the classic All That and Kenan and Kel, Clarissa Explains It All and all the others on repeat on my VHS tapes. Which I still have, btw. It makes you feel kinda old, doesn't it? Even though it really wasn't that long ago. I know they won't show all the classics, I don't think they have rights for syndication anymore or something, because I haven't seen anything saying they are going to be airing Are You Afraid Of The Dark? which sucks because THAT WAS MY SHOW. D:

What were you favorite Nickelodeon shows, flist? Were you with the All That crowd, did you watch the amazing game shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple and Figure It Out? Were you following the fashion of Clarissa Darling or going on adventures with Alex Mack?

Obama Administration: DOMA Unconstitutional.

A-freaking-men! I just about cried with absolute joy when I heard this yesterday.

I don't think I'll ever understand the blatant hatred and outright spitefulness towards something as beautiful as love. Why can't these people see this is by no means a threat to marriage? If it doesn't affect them personally, why should they even care of two men or two women marry each other? Why should it even matter to these people what others do with the privacy of their own lives? The "protection of the sanctity of marriage" is just a bullshit line to sugarcoat their bigotry and fear of same-sex couples being recognized as human beings in our society who share the same rights as they do. There's also something called separation of church and state, which has been severely ignored by many in these kinds of debates and that really needs to change.

Love isn't a privilege, it isn't something on reserve only for heterosexuals. To think that is downright disgusting and inhumane. You cannot take away the rights of others simply because you disagree and have opposing opinions on the matter.

I believe this decision is another step forward in the right direction, and I hope it goes through. Yes, we can. ♥
