Obama Administration: DOMA Unconstitutional.

A-freaking-men! I just about cried with absolute joy when I heard this yesterday.

I don't think I'll ever understand the blatant hatred and outright spitefulness towards something as beautiful as love. Why can't these people see this is by no means a threat to marriage? If it doesn't affect them personally, why should they even care of two men or two women marry each other? Why should it even matter to these people what others do with the privacy of their own lives? The "protection of the sanctity of marriage" is just a bullshit line to sugarcoat their bigotry and fear of same-sex couples being recognized as human beings in our society who share the same rights as they do. There's also something called separation of church and state, which has been severely ignored by many in these kinds of debates and that really needs to change.

Love isn't a privilege, it isn't something on reserve only for heterosexuals. To think that is downright disgusting and inhumane. You cannot take away the rights of others simply because you disagree and have opposing opinions on the matter.

I believe this decision is another step forward in the right direction, and I hope it goes through. Yes, we can. ♥

My faith in humanity = restored. :) It's little victories like this that make me so incredibly happy that one day, none of this will be an issue anymore and people will look back and shake their heads.

I just hope that in the near future, once this has all been settled, people will look back and shake their heads at the kind of idiocy that any of this was ever a huge issue in the first place. Even if people don't necessarily agree or understand it will be all, "seriously?"

Too many people are focusing on hate and not enough on love and equality. That's just sad.

Awesome. I just don't get it either. Although my parents are kind of homophobic. But their take is still that it isn't the government's job and that DOMA is unconstitutional. I don't get at all how, even if you think something is wrong, you can think it is the government's job to get involved in the issue.

It's just another way of controlling what other people do, and trying to convince themselves that they won a victory in making everyone exactly like they want them to without taking into consideration that not everyone is like them. I mean, when you get right down to the core of it all, that's generally what it is. A power-trip made up of egotistical bigotry and hatred.

I think it's ridiculous that when there's so much war and devastating things happening in the world, we're here arguing and debating the right for others to to happy and in love. Something so harmless shouldn't create this much commotion or even be the big deal it is, and yet. It concerns me greatly that people are hating on something like this and wanting to condemn it. Like, seriously? What kind of logic is that? I don't understand, I don't get it.

But yes, this is a step in the right direction and that I hope it gets repealed because it really truly is unconstitutional. Even though I sometimes feel like we take one step forward, but there's always other issues that take us several steps backwards; like the GOP's obvious hatred of women and wanting to control them/take away their rights. -__-
