I was there, Gandalf....
Feb. 16th, 2022 08:05 pm++ I received the second volume of Heaven Official's Blessing! It looks so beautiful, I mean of course it is. Now I'm just anxiously awaiting not just for the next of MXTX's novel volumes to be released, but also for the second season of Heaven Official's Blessing donghua.
++ By the end of February, all of Netflix's Marvel shows will disappear from the service completely. This is mostly speculated because of the contracts the shows had, and based on some characters making appearances in newer MCU-based material on Disney+, it's basically suggesting that Disney will now completely own them. I'm still bitter that they cancelled those shows, though, all because of streaming service wars and whatever ownership feud that was happening and the Marvel switch-up that happened, which unfortunately had a hand in cancelling all non-MCU Marvel shows, and I don't want these characters to be part of the MCU at all, they were fine doing their own thing, existing separately in their own stories without any MCU characters influence whatsoever. I don't know whether those shows are going to be on Disney+ or not, it just sucks that you cannot buy DVDs for them because I would do that in a heartbeat.
++ I have no interest in watching the series, but seeing the reactions to what's been revealed of Amazon's Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been entertaining, to say the least. I figure no matter what, people are going to be unhappy, it's inevitable, because of comparisons to PJ's LOTR trilogy or hardcore Tolkien fans who are deep with the lore are going to tear it apart. I don't have strong opinions (aside from Dwarven women not having beards, the lack of men/elves having long hair or being androgynous, that's just cowardly and a massive disappointment tbh), I'm just going to wait with everyone else and see what comes from it. Although I will say, for a production that was worth over one billion dollars everything seen so far makes it look hilariously cheap and underwhelming.
(Of course, as someone who loves The Hobbit films with my whole heart, flaws and all, I have no room to make such judgments. People will watch it and like what they like, dislike what they dislike, and as someone who has no interest in watching it it's just going to be one hell of a ride watching the fandom outcome of it nonetheless, is all I'm saying.)

Date: 2022-02-17 05:08 pm (UTC)Luke Cage just got really good in my opinion and I would have loved to see this version of Bullseye. Even if D+ revives the shows, I feel like it would be a very sanitized version of these characters.

My thoughts exactly. I can't imagine these shows on D+ without censoring some bits of it, since Marvel has become synonymous with being "family friendly" thanks to Disney so, y'know, whether the shows will appear on D+ censored or the characters revived on their MCU D+ shows but just sanitized versions of their Netflix selves, I just really, really don't want MCU to touch them. They were fine on their own, doing their own thing, existing in their own stories, without getting mixed up with anything MCU related, and to erase those journeys just to make them appear in their MCU-based content is not what I want of them, at all.
