We're gonna change the world tonight.
Oct. 17th, 2015 12:01 pm++ In case I missed anyone, thank you for all the birthday wishes! ♥
++ Community recommendations:
stitchers_tv and
killjoys_tv. I know that fandom communities are a dying breed these days, and anything for newer fandoms are virtually nonexistent on LJ. But at least some are being made, these two for Stitchers and Killjoys, both shows that have premiered this year and have been renewed for second seasons, so if you're a fan of either and would like to keep the fandom community discussion alive, definitely worth checking out. Speaking of, Stitchers is going to be having a Halloween special soon, and I can't wait to see what that is going to feature.
++ Defiance has been cancelled. I'm less surprised and more disappointed with this news, mostly because aside from figuring that there would last at least one more season, it was one of my shows that I liked watching so hearing about this was such a huge bummer, emotionally. At least from what I hear the third season finale was satisfactory enough to be counted as a series finale, so that's good. I guess I'm just disappointed because Defiance was one of those creative science fiction shows that had a shitload of world-building, from terraformed Earth to the characters and the different alien races, detailing not just their costumes and appearances but also all the languages and cultures, the interpersonal relationships between them and the humans, the conflicts and working together, and just everything in between, especially the music. It was a wonderful and beautiful show in that regard, and despite it living a healthy three season life and ending on a high note rather than getting mishandled by the writers and execs, it does feel like a loss somehow that we'll never see this world again.

Date: 2015-10-18 12:45 pm (UTC)Yeah, I have noticed that with fandom. I generally disagree with the whole "LJ is dying" idea. Mine has never really slowed down. But fandom communities? That's definitely slowed. It used to be there was a new comm for every new show before it was even released. Now, you have to make your own comm half the time.
Know the feeling! The good ones always seem to get killed too soon.
Three seasons definitely isn't bad, considering. Still, a shame.

Date: 2015-10-19 12:59 am (UTC)Fandom hasn't disappeared or been forgotten, it's just become a smaller space than how it used to be. And because of that, despite the need for specific communities, I think many feel it's pointless to make any for newer fandoms that nobody will join or partake in, which is why most will discuss fandom on their own journals instead. Hence why friending memes has become the most important way of making newer friends with similar fandom interests these days.
Sorry, I'm babbling now. I just have a lot of feelings about this particular topic.

All good. Me too.
