01. How long ago did you join LJ (or DW)?
I joined LiveJournal in 2003, back when they had invite codes. I joined DW in 2012 when many LJ users were starting to migrate, or at least backup their journals, due to a lot of issues concerning the LJ ownership and handling of things, and I wanted to keep in touch with those on my LJ flist. I didn't do anything with my DW account until 2022 when I finally transferred my journal entries to DW and deleted my old LJ account.

02. How did you find out about LJ (or DW)?
I can't really remember with LJ, my sister had an account before I did (she helped get the invite code for me to join back then) and I would search randomly and read random journal entries and things, so I'm sure it was from word-of-mouth that way. With DW it was through LJ, since it was created as an alternative solution in case LJ went down.

03. If someone introduced you to LJ (or DW), is s/he still on your friends list?
Yes.

04. Have you introduced anyone to LJ (or DW)?
Only people online that I know from other platforms, not in real life.

05. Is your LJ (or DW) public or friends only, and why?
Mostly public, I keep things regarding my personal life and some other things that discuss serious things behind locked entries, but otherwise it's relatively public. Although I have been reconsidering this due to the invasive rise of AI scrapping.

01. How did you find Dreamwidth? What attracted you to this platform? Why did you start blogging?
Many years ago when the Great LJ Exodus was happening and people were looking elsewhere to relocate. I created this account in 2012 as a potential backup and to keep an eye on those from my flist who would migrate there, but I never did anything with it since I was stubborn and kept holding onto LJ as long as it could. It wouldn't have been until last year (2022) when I finally decided to make the move to DW permanently. Obviously the thing that attracted me here was how it's essentially a journaling platform like LJ, which seems to be rare these days and I like writing and communicating with people longform.

The rest of the questions.... )

This took way longer to finish than it should have, both to answer and post it, but it's finally done.

This is my first post made directly on DW, finally.

I have successfully imported all my LJ entries here, which was a pleasant surprise since I was having no luck for a while there but, miraculously, it somehow managed to go through. People really weren't kidding with how it was done by absolute chance and luck, considering how unreliable the import function is now. But everything is imported, and I'm so happy and relieved, since because of that successful transfer I will be officially posting on here going forward.

I'm going to be figuring this place out, playing with layouts, seeing what communities are good for fandom, and all of that.

So anyway, yeah, this is more or less just my own little DW introduction, even though most of you followed me from LJ already. ;)

Here is my DW account.

With everything going on and the uncertainty of things, I've decided to finally back things up there. I'll still be posting here for the time being since I'm in the middle of setting up and figuring things out over there, and I'll most likely be posting the same content on both accounts during this period (since crossposting isn't available anymore), but eventually I will be on DW entirely.

(Note: I have tried to import my entries, but they have failed/aborted multiple times, some have said that they've had the same issue with entries/comments, this seems to be an issue on LJ's end and I don't know whether or not it'll be fixed. On one hand I don't necessarily mind starting completely over on DW, however I've been on LJ since 2003 and would love to at least preserve the memories of nearly twenty years of being on this site. So a part of me is kicking myself for not backing things up sooner.)

If you have a DW account, let me know and I'll add you.

++ It appears that FOX is to cancel TSCC, which with the disappointment wasn't too surprising given the ratings. There are ways to have fans fight against it but it seems the decision has been made indefinitely. I mean surely I'm saddened because there are plenty of directions to go and questions left unanswered, though the finale did that have completion to the season that most series don't have when they're canceled. It's open for more possibilities if they choose to, say, make a televised movie or a straight-to-DVD expansion of it. It'll be missed that's for sure, but I'm glad they were able to wrap it up but still leave room for more to be told, as the Terminator mythology will always live on regardless.

There's also some uncertainty regarding Dollhouse and its fate, though Joss still remains hopeful despite it being in "limbo" at the moment. All I can say is, if FOX cancels Dollhouse alongside TSCC I will be majorly pissed. Sacrifice one to save the other, but to sacrifice both? Hell no.

++ I'm becoming very tempted in making a little Blair/Castiel thingie mainly because from the poll competition meme that has been going on. They're both my favorite characters and I love them and they're fierce like whoa, so why not have them duke it out with their fierceness? I can totes see Blair warming up to him and teaching him how to be all schemey without getting into trouble with his superiors. Much. ALTHOUGH SIX/CASTIEL IS STILL MY CRACKY OTP, AS THEY ARE PERFECTLY FIERCE TOGETHER AND ARE MEANT TO BE (BESIDES DEAN/CASTIEL), F'REALS.

++ Seeing it being advertised around lately, I've been thinking about getting a Dreamwidth account. It sounds kinda awesome given what I've read and researched about it. It's like LJ, but a bit more secure and friendlier as I've been told. So, idk. It looks nice, so strongly considering it.

++ PSA: Le sigh, wank and drama concerning fandom is just utterly ridiculous. For future reference, when approaching a debate and you have nothing valid of an argument to back up your opinion in rebuttal to a reasonably explained response, is not what a healthy and civil debate makes. Particularly when a rebuttal is merely saying "fuck your opinion". Look, personal preferences and perceptions are fine, but attacking one thing when claiming fandom is attacking something else for the same reasons isn't making you look better, either. Double standards, it happens on both sides of the equation here, not just one. It's okay to be opinionated and passionate about your opinion but for the sake of creating a drama we can just agree to disagree on it and let it go.

And that's the end of that.
