Yay, journaling sites.

01. What was the reason you began a Dreamwidth or LiveJournal account (or both)?
For LiveJournal, it was because I was already lurking on the site, reading individual journal entries from random people of specific fannish interests that I shared, and I wanted to join. This was back when invite codes were still the only way to join the site, and ironically had I only waited some months later I probably would've been able to join for free once they discontinued that feature, lol. As for Dreamwidth, I created it back in 2012 and I kept it merely as a backup account in case I needed to transfer over, and of course to keep tabs on LJ friends who decided to move there permanently. It wouldn't be until 2022 that I finally made the full permanent transfer over to DW myself.
02. How many DW or LJ communities do you subscribe to?
Oh it was a lot on LJ, like tons. There were so many communities for various fandoms and interests over there, it was insane. DW has lesser in comparison, unfortunately, but I try to see which ones are out there and are active.
03. Do you have a favorite community or one you check out often to see what's new?
tv_talk and
c_ent, and every year with
snowflake_challenge.
04. How did you pick your user name?
A combination of my two favorite characters from my favorite shows at the time of creation: Faith Lehane (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Max Guevara (Dark Angel).
05. If you could change your user name, would you?
I've thought about it a few times in the past, but quite frankly I've had this username since 2003 and it's just become my online identity, at least on journaling sites like LJ/DW. Although I have a completely different username on Tumblr, I haven't changed that one either once I created it even though people change their username urls all the time over there. I guess I'm less likely to change due to attachment, and the hassle of finding one that isn't already taken, which has become harder and harder as the years go on to create a username that is uniquely tied to me.
Bonus Questions:
06. If you have a LiveJournal, are you currently able to access it?
Well, I obviously had one, but once transferring all my entries to DW I deleted my LJ account. This was thankfully before all the shit that recently went down over there.
07. Do you have any information about why one would be unable to access LiveJournal?
I talked about it some while ago along with links with further information, but to put it simply the current owners are trying to divide its userbase and gatekeep the site. Some might still have access to their journals while others not, I haven't seen anything more on what is going on since this came to light, regardless though it's been advised for anyone who still has access to their LJ accounts there to save/transfer their journals and communities as soon as possible.
