So, I heard that Syfy canceled Stargate Universe recently. I admit I didn't watch the show and had heard certain...things about it from others that prompted me to not really bother with it, including that one bullshit wankery that happened with one of the creators of the show, but I know some people did watch and enjoyed it so believe me, I understand that hearing a show you've been watching has been abruptly canceled is a crushing and devastating feeling. Hell, even the actors discovered this news via Twitter, not even an official announcement or anything. It makes matters more lower than low because of it. :( First with Caprica and now with Stargate Universe, this has gotten me thinking and wondering: has the Syfy Network turned into the new FOX?

Both shows were continuations of their most successful franchises, and the network even stated that they were behind them because of that, and yet they pull shitty stunts like this. I had gotten the impression that Syfy was different in that they cared more about fan reactions than they did ratings, or at least not set high expectations for ratings like other networks do. It seems like I had been deluding myself. I know its the nature of the business, but it seems rather shady to me. Canceling two extensions of particular franchises is not the greatest way of making good with their viewers, just saying.

At least certain shows like Eureka, Warehouse 13 and Haven have been in good graces. Let's just hope it remains that way. Still, I'm not entirely pleased with the Syfy Network these days because of their shitty operations, since they're replacing these canceled shows with motherfucking wrestling. Like, whut? :/

On top of that there's also been certain wanking and anger-filled drama happening in certain communities I'm associated with, some in particular have resulted into victim-blaming and shaming of women and those people not even acknowledging or understanding the offensiveness of their comments. Or if they do, they justify it with an "oh I'm just stating my opinion" excuse and failing to have any kind of empathy whatsoever. It's despicable and disgusting and just, ugh. STOP IT WORLD, JUST STOP.

What was the bullshit wankery about the creators? /busybody Urgh SyFy, honestly, it's like they're trying to run the network into the ground. I don't watch either Caprica or SGU (but I was going to start on the former... someday, and it sucks that there wouldn't be more episodes to provide a satisfying bridge to BSG.) Honestly though, how far do they think they'll get w/ shitty telemovies? and just, to not even bother informing the SGU cast properly, that's just crass.

Basically co-creator Brad Wright blamed SGA fans for "punishing" SGU by giving it low ratings (http://www.scifinow.co.uk/news/opinion-atlantis-fans-need-to-stop-punishing-universe/), or whatever else he used as an excuse. Such a dick move. :/

With the combination of crappy Syfy original movies and continuous wrestling (like seriously, how is wrestling even worthy of being on a SCIENCE FICTION NETWORK! like I get it's all choreographed fictional storylines and whatnot with their fighting and "confrontations" or whatever, but seriously, wtf?) you'd think they would at least keep something on their network. I miss the days when they actually had worthwhile programs that had something of substance. There's still Warehouse 13 and Eureka and Haven, thank goodness, but it keeps me wary on how they plan on keeping their viewers when you're constantly worried about them canceling your favorite show at any moment.

Also, definitely watch Caprica. Cannot stress enough because it is so worth it, imo. ;)

YOU MAGICALLY RALLIED EVERYONE WITH YOUR ~SEKRIT POWAHS~ TO NOT WATCH THE SHOW! THERE WERE RITUALS AND BLOOD SACRIFICES AND EVERYTHING!!

I can't wait to see the bullshit they say this time about the cancellation.

I'm going to the Vancouver Convention in April and Brad Wright will be there on Sunday. It's gonna be epic lulz. I saw him and Robert Cooper in 09 when they tried to defend the cancellation of SGA and how we're gonna love SGU while still insulting the fan base.
I'm head over heels in love the Cas and I am digging the SPN fandom right now (Late start, I know) so I really don't care what Brad has to say. I'm just tired of the fans being blamed for a crappy show. When a good show is canned, that sucks. When a show that is sub-par gets canned, you can't blame the fans- or you shouldn't blame the fans. Funny how it's never their fault.

Exactly. I never understood this kind of "placing the blame" game that happens towards the fans. It's like these people think they're hot shit and their projects are awesome and anyone that disagrees it's like, totally their fault if their project goes down the drain. It's like with Heroes's creator Tim Kring insulting fans that one time, and while he apologized for it the damage had already been done. There's nothing more damaging to a show's reputation than an egotistical showrunner. -___-

NEVER EVER BLAME OR INSULT THE FANS. THAT IS A HUGE NO-NO.

Blame the fans, really? That's how they want to play it? Jeez. When people don't tune in (like you expect them to), there has to disconnect between what's happening plot-wise and how it's getting transmitted to the audience. I'm so sick of this TPTB-fans divide, it's like there's this gulf and we're shouting and they're just TRALALALA WE'LL DO WHAT WE WANT /end rant. Anyway.

Syfy is seriously steadily going down the drain ): And if they're going to be showing wrestling, I want some seriously tricked out sci-fi wrestling shit okay, with like anti-grav and stuff. Honestly. BONNIE HAMMER WHATCHU DOING. I fear for Blood&Chrome next. ):
