Because I am being spammy and a sheep and apparently bored, and all the cool kids are doing them, therefore I must be a fandom meme whore too:

MEME #1: Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will tell you my top 3 moments or scenes (or at least 3 of my favorites) of them.

MEME #2: Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

Unpopular Opinions: Battlestar Galactica

1. This is definitely unpopular: I loved how the series ended. I thought it was absolutely perfect in terms of the show overall, from were the characters were from the beginning to their personal journeys throughout the seasons and how they ended up, also the deeper message weaving through it all; the religious and scientific aspects, all of it. I thought it all ended on a beautiful note and I understood what RDM was getting across, and I felt the finale did a faithful job to really explain what needed to be explained, left things ambiguous and it's a pity some fans don't see that. Oh well, their loss I suppose.

(in addition to that, I did not mind the Final Five reveal at all, in fact the more info we got about that the more I understood and liked it)

2. I don't understand the whole Kara/Lee vs Kara/Sam shipper wars going on, which pairing is better and who she should've gone with and that whole bitterness about the finale and blah blah blah. I don't care. It's pretty much Kara/everyone, okay? Hell, Kara/Six/Lee/Sam/Gaius orgy should just happen and everyone should be happy.

3. My strong emotional reaction to that episode aside, I still like Boomer. I find her story kind of depressing and tragic, actually.

I love how the series ended too.
Why the hell were soooo many people upset?

I thought it was hands down the best series finale ever made.

Most felt it was "too happy" and "clean cut" of an ending and it didn't fit into their vision of how the finale should have gone so they're all bitter and disappointed about it. Even still, fans are bitching that the finale ruined everything, particularly with the religious aspect which, if they'd paid attention to the show, it's been there since the beginning. It reminds me a lot of SPN fans who think that the angels/Heaven thing doesn't fit with the mythology even though it had been introduced wayyyy back in S1.

Whatever. I thought the finale was utter perfection and the more I rewatch it the more appreciation I have for RDM and David Eick's vision of the series. ♥

ITA with 1 and 3. I will always love Boomer (but Nankin should be kicked in the shins for suggesting the Helo/Boomer angle). And I also loved the finale. I loved all the development with the Head!folks and Kara and Roslin's death...the only thing I could've lived without was that montage at the end. Leave out the dancing robots and just have Head!Gaius and Head!Six walk off to the sounds of Hendrix.

It did take me out just a little bit when I first watched it, but after a few more rewatchings I quite liked that little montage in the end. It was basically a forewarning to us saying "look, technology is cool and all, but this is where we're progressing towards" which is essentially what the show has been telling us all along.

But yeah, head!Six and head!Gaius walking off into the distance to Jimi Hendrix was awesome. That was a great final ending piece, and I loved the explanation for the head!people too.

3. Hell, yes. I don't care how her storyline ended up, I love Boomer. (And every time I get upset about her character arc, I just put season one on repeat until I feel better.)

Yep. Totally. Also, Grace Park mentioned that she wanted to create Boomer to be so dysfunctional as possible in the final half, and she clearly nailed it. It's just so complicated for her character that I think that if we look at her development closely, it's pretty damn tragic just entering her psyche.

Agreed with all 3 (HELL YEAH with #1). It took me a while to get over my snapjudgement of EWWW HAET BOOMER but her character arc was nicely done and just really sad. ):

Damn straight. ;D And yeah, same here, but I felt after rewatching all of her scenes through the seasons it just makes sense and it's so sad her character had to reach that point. I had actually rooted for her for the longest time, hoping she'd reform and then...yeah. Oh Boomer, poor Boomer. Getting that short end of the stick. :(

I like the finale. It ended on a note of "The problems of the universe aren't all solved, it's up to us here and now to solve them," with hopefulness because of us being related to Hera and the Opera House visions showing that Hera represents a good thing.

They tied up everything they need to tie up.

The Final Five are a rich source of backstory.

My OTP is Kara/Sam, but that doesn't mean any other kind of romance = fail. I hate shipper wars.

My own reaction to Someone To Watch Over Me was "at least Boomer's rocking the villain angle, as opposed to in Rapture". She's always tragic.

Definitely, and even though I was amongst the folks who had predicted a "doom and gloom" ending I rather liked the happy ending because, well, judging from when we started the series they were already in that "doom and gloom" state and it was best to have them enter their new promised land to start over. It also gives us a look into humanity at how even if we take several steps back we find ourselves evolving once again. When they gave up technology it was to stop that cycle of war and violence between man and machine, only 150,000 years later we've still gotten ourselves tangled up with machines and technology. History repeats itself, or "mankind's true nature will always assert itself." It's kind of ironic poetry weaved in very well.

And I agree with what head!Six mentioned, that with every cycle comes something that will break it and we'd head in a different direction. It gives us a sense of hope, and I liked that. It was perfect for the entire message of what BSG was telling us all along.

Some of the bitter shipper wars come from the finale as well, which I find ridiculous. I think most were hoping for some kind of orgy to happen between certain characters, but whatever. I find the entire pairing versus pairing thing quite ridiculous. Can't we all just get along? Srsly.
