Exactly. It's all in this gray area with some of these characters. Like, they're not "pure evil" but they are in a questionable situation even if their intentions are for the best; his dislike for Actives could be personal, and where Echo is concerned he's actually not wanting DeWitt to make another mistake like with what happened with Alpha, hence him saying that she probably favors Echo above all of the others.
Should be an interesting followup with these character relationships and interactions, and their true motives behind what they do. Which is another thing I really love about this show.
