++ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been cancelled and will end by next year, due to the CBS/Paramount merger that has sucked up to Dump Truck, the latter who went on social media to gloat about the cancellation and are hoping for more comedians who speak against him to have their shows cancelled as well. There's reportedly a call for an investigation about this possibly being a bribe or extortion, but even if proven to be true the damage has already been done. Many people, including other fellow comedians and entertainers, are rightfully upset and furious about this decision and I just know that Stephen Colbert isn't going to back down from voicing his opinions and anger on this for the remainder of his time on the show.

++ Grantchester is a show that I watch but haven't talked about much. It's a British crime/detective drama set in the 1950s, following the sleuth adventures of a vicar and a detective as they solve various crimes while also operating through their own personal lives and relationships. The show has been renewed for its eleventh season, which has been announced will be its final season.

I know most wouldn't classify this as a "cozy murder mystery" kind of a show since it does often deal with serious subject matters, but it is for me. I'll admit to be mildly surprised by the announcement of it ending, though it has been on since 2014 and having eleven seasons, two vicars who have come and go with the current third one being the last one, and a good following of the story of these characters, that's pretty impressive. As I mentioned in my previous post Leonard Finch is my favorite character, with his story and character arc development being the strongest in the show, in my opinion. Even though it brings a lot of stress at times, I do like the way Grantchester has handled the realities of what Leonard is going through, with the time period being what it is and his struggles with coming to terms with his sexuality as a gay man and what he has to navigate through despite everything. It's heartbreaking at times, but also heartwarming, and I always just want to give him a hug. If there is one thing I would want for the ending of the show it's for Leonard and Daniel have the happiness that they deserve after everything they've gone through. That's all I'm asking for.

Oh my god, wait a second. Do I get that right? Stephen Colbert lost his show because he said negative things about Trump?
I only saw at Twitter that he was ending the show and I thought, hm, that's sad, but maybe he has enough of it and wanna do other things?

Yep, the show was cancelled. Though when I heard about it, I thought it was cancelled short-term, but it's on until May, so he's gonna have A LOT of time to say A LOT of things.

This isn't even the worst thing Trump has done (or was responsible for) by far, but this has something incredibly fascist to me. Mainly paired with the news of defunding PBS and thus Sesame Street. There is just something about taking over the media that just doesn't sit right with me. Well, I'm German. I can read all about it in our history books :/

Quashing dissent is TEXTBOOK fascism and I'm disgusted by it. I don't really know what else to say at this point, except that I know he can't silence everyone, as much as he'd like to.

I feel like the Stephen Colbert cancellation is something we should be paying a lot more attention to. It's a clear sign of facism and that it went over so easily is troubling. Colbert has been pretty mild in his criticism of Trump - to lose his job over that and to have the network bend the knee so quickly troubles me.
