When I see you guys, I don't think the show is off the air. I don't think there's a show. I think that's what the world is like. I think there's spaceships, I think there's horses. I think it's going on in all of us. The story is alive. )

Perhaps one of the most anticipated panels of the entire event. Although not everyone from the cast could make it to the reunion event, what we got was an amazing hour of sharing hilarious stories, reminiscing, and just loving and appreciating all the love and support and passion everyone has over the series. There are heartfelt emotional moments during this panel, most notably at the very end when Joss Whedon delivers a heartwarming and moving speech in response to a question talking about what the fans of Firefly mean to him. He was rendered speechless, there were tears, a standing ovation, and just pure emotion coming from the heart. If you're a Browncoat, this is certainly worth watching. Just be sure to grab some tissues, you will be sniffling.

Following directly after the panel they had a press conference: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

Firefly Reunion EW Interview with everyone (sans Joss)

Also, for anyone who didn't know, the Science Channel is doing a special arrangement later this year where they will be marathoning Firefly along with showing a special presentation, which was filmed during SDCC (privately, and showing clips from their panel) which will be reliving the series through everyone and discussing what the show meant to them, and how beloved this cult series has become and is still going strong after ten years. So, stay tuned for that!

Overall, this has been said before, but I don't think there's a cast out there who loves a series more than how the Firefly cast loves Firefly. I don't think there's a writer/creator out there who is just as passionate and dedicated to their work as Joss Whedon is about Firefly. It is evident from this reunion, it is evident throughout the years and it will continue to be like this because, we're still flying. ♥

-♠- Sylar Is A Trekkie: Zachary Quinto to play Spock! I'm sure everyone's heard about this awesome news, but I shall retell it anyway. Known for his villian role as Sylar on Heroes, Zachary has been officially confirmed to play Spock in the upcoming Star Trek film directed by J.J. Abrams. There had been circulating rumors about casting, and it's been known that Zachary had wanted to take on the role, and it's been confirmed by official sources that he is, indeed, playing the popular Vulcan character. I'm really excited for him! I'm not a Trekkie and have little knowledge or interest in the Trek universe, but I'm thrilled for this great opportunity for him. I just hope they leave the Sybrows alone....

-♠- 'Tis Shiny, Capt'n: In light of the Collector's Edition DVD arriving soon, the Serenity official website has revamped itself, including a new trailer for the film and more details about what's featured in the collector's DVD. I, for one, can't wait to hear the cast commentary for the film. It's one of the special features I love on anything.

-♠- River Tam, Terminator: Summer Glau talks more about her role in the upcoming series The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Nothing spoilerish, but still very cute and insightful look at her preparations for getting the role. The series is set to premiere on the FOX network sometime early in 2008, however you can watch the pilot episode which has been leaked. Note that the pilot is the original unaired version, as they're reshooting some scenes before premiering.

It's been a while with the weekly fandom updates, hasn't it? Lots of things have been happening, both in real life and in the fandom world, that has prevented this daily routine. Luckily, I haven't stopped reading and keeping tabs on the what's-what in fandom, and therefore this post will have the latest and greatest while the news is still hot. Or possibly warm. Okay, I can settle for lukewarm.

-♠- Are You On The List?: Because we just can't get enough, there's the upcoming Heroes: Origin spinoff. Much like the online graphic novels, these'll add more background information about the unseen heroes on the list which, as it's predicted, will air during the hiatus dates of the second season. Some are thrilled with this, some aren't quite sure. For me, anything related to Heroes is fine by my standards, just as long as Tim Kring knows what he's doing. It's a pretty interesting turn and certainly an idea that not many creators would think of doing after their first season has wrapped up.

-♠- The Company Family Man: As a Heroes extra, TWoP had their first podcast featuring Jack Coleman! Listen to part one and part two of the interview, and tell me that he isn't the most awesomest person ever. Seriously, I love this man. Intelligent and hilarious.

-♠- Killer Killer, Who's A Killer: For all Dexter fans, you can now pre-order the complete first season off from Amazon. Since I'm a recently converted fan of this amazing series this is such a great deal, and I'm totally pre-ordering my own copy. Which makes me anticipating the second season even though I don't have Showtime so it'll be difficult to view while it's airing, dammit.

-♠- Ayu's 1LOVE: It's been confirmed that Ayumi Hamasaki is getting married to her long-relationship with Tomoya Nagase. Rumors had been circulating for a while, but it's been officially notified that they are, indeed, planning to finally tie the knot by the end of this year. Congratulations to her! I know there's concern whether this'll effect her career and whatnot, but I have no worries over that. She's a successful young woman, and Ayu being happy is all that matters.

-♠- Can't Take The Sky From Me: The Serenity 2-disc collector's edition region 1 DVD will be available for purchase on Augst 21st. That's right folks, this is the director's cut edition where most of the special features seen on the region 4 DVDs will be on with this new release. Not only that, but there's a bonus of cast commentary with Joss Whedon, something I've been wanting since the movie came out, and the Tam Sessions. Also, have you seen the coverart? It's far better than the original US artwork (which has ATTACK OF THE ZOMBIE!REAVERS, ARGH! at the bottom and Serenity shooting lazers like Star Wars). This is much cleaner without all that clutter.

Oy, happy 3rd of November! Hopefully is had a nice and festive week, what with the celebration of Halloween and such. Which only gives us two months before the year 2007, which is frightening considering how this entire year blew by so quickly. Anyway, in case some people have been living underneath a rock recently, the National Novel Writing Month officially started up this week. Personally, I am not signing myself up this year (too much college work as it is), however good luck to those already signed up!

-♠- Welcome to the Hellmouth: There's some updates on what's to be expected for the Buffy Season 8 comic book, which can be seen and read right here. Includes a fantastic colored drawing of the characters along with some small detailed information of what's to come. Small, but interesting.

-♠- Can't Stop The Viral Marketing...Or Maybe You Can: Apparently, there's been and uproar outbreak of legal actions amongst the Firefly fanbase community. Specifically speaking, Universal is now taking action against viral marketing by fans from distributing unauthorized fanmade products, which basically backlashes to their original statement of encouragement for fans to participate in marketing for the Serenity film. Basically, 11th Hour has been notified to shut down their website from selling and distributing fanmade merchandise of unauthorized Universal Property and pay a retroactive licensing fee; there's also threat of taking it to federal court for copyright infringement. I completely understand the copyrighted property underneath the law and they have the right to do so, though it's very complicated considering some fans feel cheated by Universal. I somewhat agree, because now it's being said that Universal is saying they have rights to the word "Serenity" if it's written in Chinese. I have no idea if that's been confirmed, but it does seem their "rights to studio property" is going too gorram far. It's ridiculous, to say the least.

But in any case, Joss Whedon has the calming words of Buddha about the entire situation: "You can also call it "the fact that people are taking it to their hearts." It's no different than fan fiction or any of these online communities. It's important to them and they wear it -- and that makes me proud. And I don't give a good goddamn who's makin' money off it." (taken from SlashDot Joss Whedon interview, scroll down to read his full opinion.)

-♠- How I Met Your Registered Companion: For those of you out there who watch How I Met Your Mother, it seems that the lovely Morena Baccarin will be guest-starring on a brand new episode, airing the 6th of November. Pure awesomeness!

-♠- Slayer Versus P.I.?: Which one of the two sassiest blondes would YOU choose to live with? Between Buffy Summers or Veronica Mars, I'd definitely choose Veronica. Hands down. Buffy does have superhuman strength and kicks the undead's ass, however for real life situations Veronica seems to have the snark and street smarts for everyday happenings. Plus, she's uber adorable and I could hang out with Keith Mars. *glees*

Serenity: The MST3K Version! That's right, our lovely BDM has been MSTed in all its fabulous hilarity of Mike Nelson, Crow, and Tom Servo and their commentaries of doom! It's nonstop entertainment, although if you're unfamiliar with MST3K you probably won't understand. Still, this ain't no Manos: The Hands of Fate. Klingons, Luke Skywalker and other pop-culture references need no apply, although it is often hilarious.

Seriously. BEST THING EVER! HEEE!

+ Shiny, Shiny, SHINY!: Finally, I now own Serenity, in all its crazy llamafied glory! I have actually watched the entire movie, special features, the deleted scenes (with commentary), and the whole movie with Joss commentary all in one day. Many people would think this is taking my fannish pride of being a Browncoat too another level that is insane, and I must say that those folks are, in fact, correct. Though after hearing some things from Joss's commentary there is one particular thing I'd like to say that I, personally, need to call out to it: considering that it may be spoilerish to those that haven't seen the BDM, even though it's not plot-revealing, I am being on the safe side and placing it behind cut ) Aside from that, I adore this precious DVD. And tomorrow, I shall rewatch it again and take notes --- with and without commentary. I like analyzing and noticing the little things, as I have so learned from watching the Firefly commentaries. Yay! Serenity, totally shiny. ♥

+ Mother Nature Shiny: It's been raining non-stop for the past several days now. And if the weather reports are accurate they say it'll be storming on Christmas Day, which I am totally and utterly thankful for. So that's very shiny. Yay, more rain!

+ Seasonal Shiny: Finished wrapping presents! Finished finalizing cards and the like, FINALLY FINISHED! Procrastination on writing holiday cards shouldn't be difficult, seeing that they are cards and all, not a lengthy letter. But a single sentence says a lot about who is sending it, as I have learned. It's harder to say something that'll put a smile on someone's face. Very difficult. And I am very rambly tonight because, OMG!Serenity is here! But yes, card writing = difficult...if you're me and want to be very articulate in the message you're writing. So. Yay! Shiny.

ETA: To double the shiny, lovely GIP of adorable Summer Glau. 'Cause, well, the CUTE! *loves her glee!smile, like whoa*

'Brokeback Mountain' tops Oscar bets, and many are saying that it's going to be hard to beat, considering the large amount of good publicity it's receiving lately. It's good to see it in recognition, as it should get.

In other news, I haven't been able to get Serenity yet. Today was obviously "everybody off work" day because the roads were horrendously crowded, with people doing last minute Christmas shopping and all -- plus with the buckets of rain we've been having lately, it'll be easier to buy it tomorrow. But it shall be in my possession soon enough! My mother still needs to see it, as she has promised she would once the DVD comes. So, yay!

I mean, how can you go wrong with River's amazing Slayer!Ballerina-Fu she's got going on? And the Fruity Oaty Bars. And Captain Tightpants! Hee!

Also, cute little Joss Whedon article that comes out in the next addition of TVGuide. Hee! Love that picture of Joss --- him and his evil mastermind of genius ideas. Hee, an iHole and SereniFly, and a CSI musical. Oh Joss, you and your geeker joy of fanboyishness. How I love and bow to thee. And he mentions VMars, too! *huggles too cute Joss*

+ Gorram Shiny: Serenity comes out onto DVD tomorrow, OMG! And right as of now, Serenity is #1 in DVD sales on Amazon. If that isn't enough to get a Big Damn Sequel I don't know what is. Shiny!

+ Serenity Cover Shiny!: The Australian DVD coverart for Serenity. Gorrammit, they get the cooler DVD cover than we do! Lucky Australians, plus they get an extra featurette that isn't going to be available in the U.S./Canadian DVDs. As many of you Browncoats have noticed, the coverart is a tad more colorful than the actual Australian poster, and River's eyes are still that metallic blue instead of brown, but it's MUCH better than the llama!cover we've got. Simpler, eye-catching and straight to the point. Which I like; definitely shiny!

+ Mother Nature Shiny: Rainy weather. Overcastness. I'm a very happy bunny, so shiny. OMGYAYness! ^_^
rogueslayer452: (Default)
The spontaneous Fruity Oaty Bar commerical for all! Because "Fruity Oaty Bars, they make a man out of a mouse..." and they "make you bust out of your blouse." Download, listen, and love my Browncoat friends, dong ma?

This is a pimping reminder that the Serenity DVD will be available in exactly 4 days, with the hidden Easter Egg which includes the actual full-length Fruity Oaty Bar commercial (subliminal message-free) along with all other Serenity-goodies.

*this public message NOT transmitted by Blue Sun*

+ OMGWTFPOLARBEAR!Shiny: I finally retrieved my LOST DVDs, and now I am rejoicing in glee! Although my mother and sister refuse to watch it because, well, I had told them of the suspenseful things that occur and they aren't really big fans of that kind of genre. Well, my sister can stomach it never minding the pretty Charlie, Sawyer, and Boone in the show of course, however my mother not so much. Still waiting the arrival for my Veronica Mars DVDs via mail, though.

+ Theatre-isms of Shiny: In my theatre class this morning the lecture was made more interesting with my professor discussing Dadaism, Surrealism, Theatre of the Absurd and describing (in the most foul, visually disturbing and WTFing ways possible) how these forms of theatre were performed. Including screaming nonsense so loud that it set the entire classroom into fits of laughter -- and my professor just loves to fuck with the classrooms nearby because, as he says, it's both entertaining and hilarious. But, anyway, SHINY lecture today. Hee!

+ Gorram Adorable Shiny!: Summer Glau Serenity Interview. I have no idea if this is newish or oldish, but there's cuteness within and some talk about the film itself. My favorite part of this interview is when Summer discusses her stunts in a certain scene of Serenity: Which is considering slightly spoilerish to the ending of the film ) Adorable and very shiny, very shiny indeed.

++ BONUS Shiny: All new Medium this evening, as well as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Whee!
