++ I only vaguely follow the Olympics, as in only the sport events I'm interested in. For the winter Olympics it's figure skating. Because of this, I kinda got myself caught up with the sensation of Alysa Liu and her truly inspiring story and the outcome of her winning gold simply by just being herself, returning back to the sport after deciding retire a couple years prior and doing so on her own terms, and having passion for what she loves and having fun. For all the technical and professional elements of the sports competition, the pure joy and confidence in what she was doing is what most of all take away when watching programs like that. Her performances, her general attitude about life, as well as her kindness, support and excitement towards her fellow competitors, it was quite infectious and it's great to see something this positive and uplifting come out of the Olympics.

++ An official music video was released by the cast of A/B/O Desire for "Master of Desire", the drama's theme song. I literally was all chin!hands watching it! (✿◠‿◠) The video itself is visually stunning, and just seeing them all together for this and with them paired off with their respective couples just made me so happy, specifically that of Gao Tu/Shen Wenlang. Anything with them, please, I need more little itty bitty crumbs of those two!

++ Girls Like Girls is an upcoming film by Hayley Kiyoko, adapted from a book she had wrote that is titled and based off of her iconic 2015 song/music video of the same name. I wasn't aware that she had written a novel nor that this film was in the works at all, but that makes this discovery so much more amazing for me. I do remember back when the video music was released that people were saying that it could be its own story in itself, so, whether or not this was taken into account at the time, I like that Hayley wanted to take a step further with her own creation.

Figure skating is also my favourite sport to follow on the winter Olympics, though I also try to keep an eye out on Spanish female athletes and teams in general (same in the summer Olympics). This year I couldn't watch anything live and I'm SO behind lol, but I did look up Liu's performance and it was such a joy to watch.

Oh, I didn't know Hayley Kiyoko had written that book, and I definitely had no idea about the film. My curiosity has been piqued.

(also I just noticed MS MR in "current music." Talk about nostalgia ñalskdjf)

I tend to follow the summer olympics more than the winter one but figure skating is my favorite to watch out of the winter sports and Alysa Liu was great! I love her story too and you can really just see her having fun on the ice, which makes it fun to watch. And the way she's really dancing out there and so smooth too. :D

I have heard the song but I had no idea there was a book (and an upcoming movie!). I have to check that one out.

I've followed most of the Olympics as far as I was able - I love to watch biathlon and figure skating, especially. Alysa Liu's win was amazing, it was just so much fun watching her! I was a bit sad for Kaori Sakamoto, because I think she would've won gold without that unfortunate missed jump and I think she would've deserved it as well. But I was very fine with Liu's win! I also really loved Amber Glenn's energy on the ice and overall was happy that there were quite a lot of women who looked like... actual women on the ice. Since Russia isn't really allowed to compete currently, the lack of malnourished 15 year olds who can't do anything but jump and also don't seem to feel any joy on the ice is refreshing.

I also feel like I witnessed Olympic history with the men's single... What a crazy free skate! I was super happy for Misha Shaidorov because I really enjoyed his performance and, well, he skated clean. XD I'm not a big fan of Ilia Malinin tbh, though I didn't wish for him to fail like that. But perhaps it'll do something good for his further development - I'd wish to see more creativity in his programs. His jumps are impressive, but I get bored anyway. In the gala he showed that he is capable of interpreting the music artistically.

Speaking of which, I loooooved the gala! So much fun! So many great routines!

I also was so happy for our German pair to win bronze. The media of course was like, "They lost gold" when... they never were the favourite to win gold and simply were lucky that they delivered an outstanding short program while the favourites made mistakes.

I'm the same with the Olympics. I really liked seeing Alysa Liu skate - her performances were so stunning. I don't quite get the scoring system for skating but there really was a a shift when you get to the top 10 skaters just in how consistent they were and how little they travelled on their spins. Just stunning.
