So, the reaction to Friday's Dollhouse is quite simple: shit just got real, Joss did his amazing magnificent bastard effect, mindfrakking ensued and thus fans brains s'ploded everywhere. Coherent thoughts were inactive for some time after that. But now, having the chance to rewatch the episode, I have actually formulated a proper coherent review, with my own theories and thoughts and speculations for what happened.

Relax, I'm not a thief...I'm a terrorist. )

It makes me sad that this show has been canceled. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but it has so much amazing potential and the possibilities are endless, and had FOX trusted Joss enough to allow him to take full control of this project we would've had this instead of what they started off with. That is just depressing, because it could have been amazing except for the network intervening, and this statement by them just pisses me off:
“We committed to thirteen episodes,” admits Reilly. “We told Joss going in, we’re going to air these. For whatever good moves we made in the fall. Friday isn’t the finest move of the night. Back to the drawing board on Friday’s. [DOLLHOUSE] is a good show, it had a run, but obviously, that’s that.” (Source)
"That's that", really? I want to believe that they trusted the project, and I am grateful to have had two seasons instead of a premature run, but when it comes right down to it the network seemed to not really care either way what happened. Promoting the show poorly, and rather incorrectly which is ironic in itself since the show is about the morality of exploitation behind massive corporations, and it just royally pisses me off that after everything FOX hasn't learned anything about their advertisement strategies and making room for at least attempting to get the show noticed by their audience. I understand that it's a business move, poor ratings means nobody is watching, but obviously to them, and most networks sometimes, quantity > quality. This is why you see long-running shows that are just so horrible and stupid and the more worthwhile, better quality shows are left out in the dirt to suffer unknown or doomed fates.

Obviously, with the exception of Fringe, science fiction is not the demographic for the FOX network. I kinda wished they had paired Dollhouse with that show, because it would have gotten more attention to those interested in such a genre. That would have been a smart move, but alas FOX isn't known for being smart.

Last night's Dollhouse was absolutely fucking legendary, I can't even begin to explain it. Yet I will, because that's how I roll.

Behold, the Dollhouse Scoobies was then formed, and all was frakking epic and glorious )

And this is precisely why FOX SUCKS. AGAIN. BECAUSE WHEN YOU HAVE AMAZING SHIT LIKE THIS AND CRITICS RAVING ABOUT IT YOU SHOULD KEEP IT ON THE AIR. NOT CANCEL IT YOU FUCKTARDS. UGH. FUCK YOUR RATINGS SYSTEM IN THE ASS.

My entire sleep schedule is all fucked up. For the last two days I've spent nearly the entire day, waking up just shy of a few hours before my regular bedtime would normally be. I'm not getting sick, that I know for sure, the only other indicator would be getting on my period but it doesn't usually call for sleeping hours of the day. So I have no idea what is going on with me. Or if it's just my body saying "HEY YOU GOTTA GET MORE SLEEP!" But I don't know.

[livejournal.com profile] ohbooth, [livejournal.com profile] trinaweena and [livejournal.com profile] fresleyforever, I received your Christmas cards! Awww, ilu guys, you're so sweet. ♥

By the way, I'm going to be sending cards out shortly. I haven't had time to because of some real life stuff and what I said above about my outta-whack sleep schedule which has placed me in this lethargic mode. But hopefully they'll be sent out and get to all those who gave me your addresses in time before Christmas. Don't worry!

I missed Dollhouse last night, mainly because I slept through it. But I downloaded the two episodes and here are my thoughts:

UM EPIC SHIT JUST GOT EPIC, Y'ALL )

God, I love this show.

Also, does anyone else think that Alan Tudyk could have been an excellent Lucifer? It's the suit from the episode, for some reason I see him either being a very fashionable and slightly off-his-rocker demon or Lucifer. Hmmm. What about a Lucifer and Alpha confrontation? Oh, I like that idea. SOMEONE GIVE ME CROSSOVER FIC ASAP OF THIS! ;D

OH MY FRAKKING GOD.

I think her bad guys are badder than our bad guys )

Now THIS is pure Joss Whedon, utterly and completely Joss Whedon right here. This is what should have been done with the show since the beginning, instead of FOX trying to control things because having more of these inner-mythology suspenseful episodes is far more interesting than episodic engagements. If anything, Dollhouse should have started with this dark stuff right off the bat, because it would have drawn in more viewers with the suspense and intrigue. Unfortunately, it didn't. I'm sad it'll be ending, and feel that these back-to-back two-hour episodes are more of FOX's way of getting rid of the show.

But I still love it, love the direction its heading and the complexities it holds. And from the previews for the next two episodes, it's going to be quite a doozy.

I really do miss doing these reviews, so frakking much. Oh summer hiatus, why must you be so slow?

Kids playing with matches, and they burnt the house down. )

I love this show, seriously. While this episode was unaired it will be screened at this year's Comic Con, for all that are going to the Dollhouse panel. There has been some talk that FOX might also be airing it after all, though it's unclear about when and where or if this is actually true at all. Either way, this episode really adds more of the mythology into focus for all those that stopped watching way too earlier into the season. So if you haven't yet, download the episode and watch for yourself. Same with the unaired pilot, too. All I can say is, this is pure Joss Whedon, through and through.

I have thirty-eight brains, not one of them thinks you can sign a contract to be a slave )

Wishes, hopes and expectations for the possible future for Dollhouse )

There's also some talk about how the thirteenth unaired episode, "Epitaph One", could be used as a spin-off? A great notion however how would that be if Dollhouse hadn't done great in winning over high ratings? I would prefer having this have a second season, but heh, I can take what I can get as long as Joss and Eliza stick together with this project because dammit, we need this story to continue being told.

The Prince had finally rescued the Princess from the deep sleep... )

People need to start watching this show. Either start watching in real time or to Fox.com or Hulu or whatever, don't just download elsewhere because I think that's the main problem. Many people think that it's just their fan reactions but it's not, FOX is big on statistics and if the ratings aren't up to par with those expectations they will pull the plug regardless of a growing fanbase and positive critic responses. But the ratings systems fails in general, so heh.

I am now off to finish up some schoolwork that I need to get done with.

How many chances does one get to attend their own funeral? )

This also concludes that there are only two episodes left, three if they keep with the thirteen aired episodes, but with the speculated rumors of going back and forth I do think we do have only two left. Bummer. FOX PLZ RENEW THIS SHOW OTHERWISE THERE WILL BE BLOOD! I AM SRS HERE.

We all have our needs, we all have our secrets )

Two weeks without Dollhouse? Blasphemy! Let's hope people will remember to watch it when it returns. That's the fear I have sometimes, that if there's a prolonged hiatus sometimes people won't pay attention to dates and times and will bypass it completely.

Must go watch TSCC because I accidentally missed it by over-napping this evening, as it's the season (and hopefully not series) finale.

Is that what you think you're doing here? Taking away basic human rights? My right to choose, feel, remember? )

In related news, it appears that there are high hopes for Dollhouse in regards of being renewed for another season, especially since there's been a boosting in DVR ratings. It's not definite yet, it still needs confirmation from the network, but I'm staying optimistic. Unfortunately, it doesn't look that great for TSCC as it appears the season finale this Friday may be the last episode ever if there is no sign of possible renewal for a third season. The plan seems to be that if all this ends up becoming true, FOX will move House to where TSCC used to be and move Dollhouse onto Monday nights, where I kinda wanted it to be all along.

The thing is, despite the disappointment in hearing about the low ratings TSCC is getting I can understand the sacrifice; the Terminator mythos is neverending, it's a timeless story and this was only one branch of that mythology. However Dollhouse is a bright and shiny new show which an interesting and unique story to tell that if canceled Joss will never be able to tell it in his own brilliant creative mind. Save one, sacrifice the other. I would prefer FOX keep both shows, but y'know, you can't win everything.
