++ Midsommar is an upcoming horror movie by the director of Hereditary, and I'm already curious and enthralled by it. One of the things I like about A24 trailers is that they give off unsettling atmospheric vibes without revealing anything of the plot. I also love it when horror goes bright and vibrant instead of the typical dark/gritty route often seen, so automatically I was intrigued by that direction this film seems to be going for. Plus it has Chidi from The Good Place, so.
++ There are apparently plans for Saw to be rebooted which...I do not want, to be honest. First of all, while people's opinions about the quality of the franchise vary, I still enjoyed it for what it was. And at this point it's basically considered a classic in its own right, and it is well-deserved. I even liked the recent Jigsaw movie despite some of its retconning. Secondly, rebooting for the sake of rebooting and banking off from something popular is just tired, old and lazy at this point. The Saw franchise has become quite a classic among horror fans that even attempting an reboot this early is out of the question, especially since you cannot replace the genius that is Tobin Bell as John Kramer. If nothing else, they should just continue what they were doing with Jigsaw because I am curious about some things that were in the movie, which could actually lead into a whole other connecting franchise altogether. Plus, the only way I would ever accept a remake, or a retelling of sorts, is if it was done by someone like Jordan Peele, because I feel like he would actually do justice with a fresh and interesting take on the story. But otherwise, leave this franchise alone.
++ Bryan Fuller recently tweeted a confirmation that they're still wanting/hoping to continue with Hannibal for a fourth season, they're just waiting for the right network/service to come along and support them. I know that this has been an ongoing discussion for a while about him wanting to still do a fourth season, but with revivals happening all the time to continue series that have been long cancelled (see: Veronica Mars, as someone pointed out) it is not out of the realm of possibility for it to become a reality. And with Hannibal still being praised as a television series and fans still being active, hopefully someone out there will take that chance. Just not Netflix, please.
++ Speaking of, we finally have a teaser trailer for the third and final season of Jessica Jones. It's incredibly short, but it looks like it's going for S1 vibes, and I'm here for it.

Date: 2019-06-12 01:06 am (UTC)It just seems like reboots are happening earlier and earlier with no thought behind it aside from a cheap cash grab. Imagine having a new movie come out and did well, and then some years later someone wanting to reboot it entirely just to ride off its success. It's ridiculous, and unfortunately it's become the standard now in the entertainment industry. :/ Saw is an iconic franchise that has more room to expand upon its already existing universe than a complete reboot, which, if it ever gets made, will ultimately fail for not understanding what made it successful in the first place. Which seems to be the biggest fault many reboots/remakes have, imho.
