I think it was especially obvious because Sarah Shahi played similar roles before – where her character was not dealing well with her job or had left her former job for something similar because she still felt a sense of duty... both her characters in 'Fairly Legal' and 'Life' were designed that way though in a very different setting. But both times compared to 'Reverie', the script writing was arguably more successful in what it tried to achieve with the character in particluar and the script on the whole. Also, I don't know but I always expected Paul (Sendhil Ramamurthy's character) to do something shady and I think that's because the show in some ways reminded me of "Second Chance" (2016) where Dilshad Vadsaria played this billionaire bio-engineer who built this super A.I. that turned out to be her dead bother and found a way to bring some dead cop back to life. But in the end on "Reverie" Monica (Kathryn Morris) was fully responsible for all evil, right? It's been a while...
