Which tv show cancellation hit you the hardest?

Honestly, there's so many shows that I felt upset about being cancelled, especially ones that ended so prematurely, I could write essays about how they all deserved better. But I think I'll always be bitter and angry about the cancellation of Caprica, the prequel series to Battlestar Galactica. Syfy really mishandled the show right from the start, with the biggest offender being the mid-season extended hiatus which, when they came back, changed the days and time and did little promotion so nobody knew when it actually came back, and that ultimately sealed its unfortunate fate. I loved that show so much, it held so much potential and promise and it was heading into a wonderful direction in expanding the world and these characters and I loved the actors involved and everything, but sadly, despite the massive success of BSG, the network just didn't have enough faith in it.

Following closely to that would be Legend of the Seeker. I had just gotten into the show, literally binge-watched to catch up to its current episodes, before it was announced that it would be cancelled after two seasons. I was just introduced to this fantastically lighthearted and silly but awesome fantasy show that I had fallen in love with instantly, only for it to be taken away. I was incredibly heartbroken. I'm still not over it, to be honest, and a delusional part of me still wants there to be a third season even after all this time.

Lays or Pringles? Hagan Daaz or Ben & Jerrys? Forever 21 or H&M?

While I haven't had either in quite a while, and I have liked both for different reasons, I definitely had a soft spot for Lays due to their barbecue chips, which were heaven to me for a time. Häagen-Dazs all the way, baby. I think it's basically a tie between Häagen-Dazs and Baskin Robbins for favorite ice cream of all time, in my opinion anyway. And Forever 21 has always been one of my favorite places to shop.

Yes to Caprica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The finale really opened up how epic the show was going to get and we just missed all of that.

I haven't watched Legend of the Seeker but I remember seeing people be really into it back in the day. I probably should get around to that one eventually.

It honestly was heading into a beautiful direction, and I was already engaged with the story as it was, and it pains me that we'll never, ever going to see that. It showed much promise, so much potential, and people let it slip through their fingers. Syfy was basically a fool for letting it go, and I'll never stop being bitter and angry over it.

Legend of the Seeker is such a gift of a show. It is a beautifully lighthearted fantasy series that, while it has dramatic moments, never is something that takes itself too seriously, features so many empowering women and it's a refuge for people who want the opposite of Game of Thrones, essentially. It's so good. I think you would like it. :)

I feel like SyFy and some of the fandom expected it to be just like Battlestar and it wasn't. It was something else that was completely original and it really could have been epic if they'd had a few seasons.

I'll have to check it out then. Back on my list she goes!

Yeah, I remember someone from the BSG fandom actually complained that Caprica had no actual space battles or spaceships (lol wtf that's not all that BSG was either but whatever) and also that it was too "Buffy-fied" because it focused on a teenage girl. And I was just so ???? over that comment. I also feel that some fans were bitter about how BSG ended that they thought it would be the ultimate "fuck you" to RDM to not tune into Caprica. Regardless, nobody gave it an honest chance, and it really saddens me to this day. We could have had something amazing, but they just let it go.

I also feel like Syfy was miffed that BSG ended on their terms that they just didn't care about anything else tied to that universe. They basically flip-flopped over the other prequel series, Blood & Chrome, as well. It was planned to be a webseries, then an actual series, then a webseries again, before just airing all the web episodes at once as a miniseries and never did anything else with it beyond that.

(Syfy is a big flip-flopper over many things, it has cancelled and did many of its programs wrong, so I shouldn't be surprised. But it still guts me every time when I think about what could have been.)

For sure. BSG was set in Space but it wasn't a typical spaceship show, it was more about politics, survival, and religion of humanity to me and then got into what makes us human as we got the cylon reveal.

That question of what makes us human was so central to Caprica as was looking into religion and politics and we all knew it was heading towards the survival of the human race and yet.. put a teenage girl in and no one could see that the show was really working with the same sort of themes.

.. and now I want to rewatch Caprica.
