As you may or may not have heard, a late winter episode will obliterate the fourth wall by transporting Sam and Dean to an alt-uni where they are actors named Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki starring in a cult TV show called Supernatural. Wait, it gets wink-winkier: In this other dimension, Sam/Jared has a wife — and it’s none other than Padalecki’s real-life bride (and former ‘Supe costar) Genevieve Cortese!

LOL YEAH I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

We've known of the meta-filled episode for some time now, so that isn't very new or shocking. Just more cracked out every time I read about it, lol. Hopefully it'll be good and not painfully bad with second-hand embarrassment. Quite frankly I'm surprised that Genevieve is even going to be involved with Supernatural again, what with the backlash fandom had against her. Most fans would be foaming at the mouth wanting to throw anything at this girl because of her being back, regardless if it's as the character or herself. Not that I really care though, I bet she's only gonna appear on the screen for like two seconds and then disappear while other crazy shenanigans are happening.

WHATEVER. AS LONG AS WE GET MISHA PLAYING HIMSELF! OR MISHA PLAYING CASTIEL TRYING TO PLAY HIMSELF. THAT WOULD BE LOLARIOUS TO THE MAX! XD XD XD

Hide yo' virgins! A dragon (we're talking a dragon with ginormous wings) is breaking into people's houses and snatching up local girls wearing purity rings. For those who are interested in the cool monster factor of demon-hunting, this will be the episode for you. If you just want to see Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) working together and everything returning to sunshine and puppy dogs…maybe not the episode for you.

....

DRAGON WITH GINORMOUS WINGS.

DRAGON WITH GINORMOUS WINGS

DRAGON WITH GINORMOUS WINGS

....

TELL ME THIS MOTHERFUCKING DRAGON IS GONNA SPIT FIRE OR THAT DEAN IS GONNA HAVE TO GO INTO SOME TRI-WIZARD TOURNAMENT TO DEFEAT IT OR SOMETHING. LOL

In seriousness though, I'm not entirely sure I believe the description, unless they are completely abusing the special effects team just for dragon effects. I mean come on, we didn't get to have an epic angelical battle in the fifth season finale, why would they be wasting their monies on something like CGI dragons for some cracked out MOTW episode? Either it's not what we think it is or they'll half-ass it somewhat via filming tricks, idk. I mean, dragons are cool. I love dragons. I just don't know if this show can do them justice. I think I would leave that up to the anime, to be honest. Whatever though, I just have one thing to say:

I WANT THERE TO BE MOTHERFUCKING EPIC ANGEL WINGS ON THIS SHOW AGAIN, DAMMIT! EITHER THE SHADOWS OR ACTUALLY SHOWING THEM IN THEIR ENTIRETY. IF YOU'RE GONNA SHOW US DRAGON WINGS AS THE DESCRIPTION IS IMPLYING YOU BETTER SHOW US SOME ANGEL WINGS SOON, FOR REALS NOW. JUST SAYING.

Otherwise the episode description? Dragons snatching up virgins? IDEK ANYMORE WITH THIS SHOW.

Did anyone else hear the news that Dawn Ostroff is leaving the CW forever? About freaking time! Hallelujah! \O/

That woman is responsible for canceling some of the best programs the network has ever had, mostly because she never understood them or tried to alter them but once those alterations didn't pass she killed them off or whatever, making headway for the melodramatic bullshit that now plagues the network. Good riddance, I say. Hopefully the next president will actually have understanding and respect for the programs and their creators and won't belittle the intelligence of the fanbases of said shows.

'You're right, even when they attempt to be taken seriously things just seem incredibly off because of all those changes and it's like, seriously Gamble? Seriously Kripke? -__-'
Tell me about it. I get the feeling that Sera wants to make the show her own and has thrown out canon to do it. Personally I would have just expanded the universe; goodness knows Kripke always had a hard time doing that and there is plenty to explore without turning the characters/world OOC.

'Badfic tropes should not be featured in our shows, no matter how "clever" they think they're being. Leave what you're stealing from fandom to fandom only, ffs.'
That sounds about right.

'However, I wouldn't want to show to end on a horrible note as I feel this season is going to, if anything it needs to go out with a bang like they'd originally intended before shit got all screwed up.'
I really hope you're right. One reviewer (Mo) said she was glad Supernatural got a sixth season because she would have hated for it to end with such a horrible episode as Swan Song.

I'm right there with you about expanding the universe. I mean, the show is called Supernatural for a reason and, while the Winchesters are the central piece, there should be more exploration on other elements that they aren't focusing on. Like outside sources, other hunters, friends and allies, exploring different countries outside of the United States with their own supernatural customs and techniques, etc. They said this season was about getting back into the normal monster hunting, but I don't see that anywhere, do you? It's all been badfic crack.

I bet they're regretting that thought now, seeing as the sixth season is sucking major ass.

I know. The only episode I've liked this season has been Weekend and Bobby's because A. I love how the fleshed out Bobby, Rufus and to a certain extent Sheriff Mills and B. I love the idea that maybe because Sam and Dean averted the Apocalypse creatures from other countries are now in North America (talk about unintended consequences). But instead of focusing on stuff like that, it's all Sam and Dean brotherly angst (again).

Probably.

That is exactly why I loved that episode too, there was an extension of characters that aren't primarily Sam and Dean (and Lord knows there's been enough of their manpain to last us several decades now) and finally getting to see more background on things that are actually interesting. I want more of the monsters suddenly appearing from other places around the world there in the U.S., because that seemed rather important but there's hardly been anything elaborating on that since that episode.

This season has had plenty of opportunities to get to the juicier things, you know the plot-driven stuff that we need to get into, which with the themes and concepts seems pretty damn nifty and cool. But they keep dragging their heels with the man!angst and bad writing of badfic tropes that it's like, what plot? -__-

Yeah, THAT would have been interesting.

True, but than I basically gave up after Caged Heat. It seems pretty clear that the writers have no clue what they're doing anymore and think fanservice will cover up the lack of plot. I'm sorry but an OOC hot* kiss between Meg and Cas doesn't make up for plot.
*people say that it was hot, but I would have found it hotter if it had been in character.

There's nothing hot about sacrificing/butchering characterization just for the shits and giggles. That's not fanservice, that's bastardizing everything about the character. Nobody can convince me otherwise, it's just plain laziness in the writing and just disgusting and ugh. >:|

To me, that episode never happened. Out of sight, out of mind (thankfully too because I never watched it, lol!)

Tell me about it. I'm convinceed that (like bad-fic writers before her) the only reason Sera let that Cas/Meg kissing scene see the light was day was just because she thought it was hot.

I just. Ugh. Can someone just fire Sera Gamble please? Get rid of her from the show entirely, if possible? *seethes and rages*

I second that. Although if they do have 'Sera' show up in the meta episode I hope they get the girl who played fangirl Becky to play her too - I think it would be fitting and not in a good way.
