I know people are excited for the new S6 promo and I don't mean to harsh anyone's squee, but I feel rather spoiled now with people posting it everywhere without a cut. I know it's just an embedded video and I can just scroll passed it, but seeing it posted many times on my flist can kind of be distracting, particularly since I am still spoiler-free about everything. So, common courtesy please?
Anyway, there's been some exciting and interesting things happened in fandom lately:
++ Caprica returns on October 5th instead of January! \O/ It seems like the folks over on SciFi are finally doing something right, since these extended mid-season hiatuses are getting rather irritating. There's been no official word yet about it being renewed, and I know some are worried because of this change, however I am staying optimistic because it's because of this change-back to the original scheduling for a fall return is the best thing the network has done in rearranging their schedule.
++ DEATHLY HALLOWS TV SPOT!!! BRB SPAZZING. *___*
++ Misha makes typical sarcastic Tweet, people don't get it and unfollow him, Mishasnarks makes fun of unfollowers for not understanding witty sarcasm. As always, Misha wins the Internet.

inception_kink prompt: MY LITTLE INCEPTION PONIES! LOOKIT THE CUTENESS, ESPECIALLY FISCHER. OMG FISCHER WITH THE LITTLE PINWHEEL. SDJ;FALSDJFLASKJDF *cuddles forever* Seriously, that prompt was perfect and this person is awesome for making it so. Bless this fandom. ♥

Date: 2010-09-11 01:56 pm (UTC)Me too. I'm kind of hoping that is does flop and the cancel SPN, if only because I don't want to see Jared and Jensen playing Sam and Dean for another five seasons and I really don't want to see SPN run into the ground like they did with Smallville. I heard a rumor that Jensen and Jared extended their contracts up to season seven and if they did I really hope they decide not to renew them after that.

Date: 2010-09-11 10:20 pm (UTC)I'm seriously hoping it gets canceled, too. Not to be mean and heartless, but in order to prevent it from going down the Smallville path we need to cease it before it happens. Of course I think it already has placed itself on the Death Mark once Kripke sold his show out and placed an incompetent writer in his place, just to give into the notion for more seasons. :/

Date: 2010-09-12 02:05 pm (UTC)Agreed. The last thing I want to happen is for SPN to become something I'm no longer interested in. That happened to me with Torchwood (the show became something that I'm not interested in anymore) and it's always made me a little sad that the fandom that first got me into fandom completely disinterests me now.

I don't know what Death Mark is but I'll take your word for it that it's not good. It reminds me of Andromeda where after TPTB fired the Executive Producer because he wouldn't turn the show into what THEY wanted (ie stand alone episodes every week), it became awful.

lol, by that I just meant its deathbed. But yeah, it's always disconcerting seeing how a network wants to dictate what a show does and its contents simply for more viewers and ratings.

Date: 2010-09-12 08:04 pm (UTC)Oh, I've heard several people say stuff like that. How can a show get that badly screwed up?
'But yeah, it's always disconcerting seeing how a network wants to dictate what a show does and its contents simply for more viewers and ratings.'
Yeah, I suppose they want good ratings so the show can get into syndication but it still doesn't mean I have to like it when they dumb shows down/change them.

Date: 2010-09-12 08:19 pm (UTC)Sometimes it's just that badly handled, from the writing to no sense of direction of where the story is going. Which is a shame, especially when a show has something strong going for it.

I don't think many people like it, really, aside from those that don't care about the story as we mentioned before. It makes me wonder because as the audience we have a voice, would they listen to us if enough people started voicing our opinions about these changes? Or how things are being handled? I know some shows listen to their viewers and their reactions, but it makes me wonder if anything can be done about it network-wise.

Doubt it, a lot of network executives don't listen to anyone. When I used to watch Soap Operas they had a kissing ban for their gay characters (apparently the head of the network finds men kissing gross) but even though a lot of people complained about the lack of kissing it was still six months between their first kiss and their second. Although one the actors did 'cheat' by kissing his co-star on the top of the head in one scene, I'll always love him for that.

Date: 2010-09-14 01:00 pm (UTC)Pretty much. There have been several shows that have taken awhile for them to find their audience (M.A.S.H, Seinfeld) and become popular, but more often than not if a show is not hugely popular right out of the gate it gets canceled. Whenever people do talk about shows that take awhile popular they always seem to say those shows would never be kept on the air NOW. As much as I hate the fact that SPN gets almost no promotion on the CW, I don't think it would have survived on a network like ABC or CBS.
