Not cool, LJ.
Aug. 31st, 2010 07:30 pmSo. LiveJournal decided that they are no longer accepting "/" in their tags, which means everything in the tagging system for pairings and others including the forwardslash is completely nonfunctional, thus making things even harder to identify and locate.
NOT COOL ELJAY, NOT COOL AT ALL. FIX THIS ASAP OR FEEL THE WRATH OF MANY USERS.
*silently fumes at douchenozzles responsible*
ETA: It seems like this was an unintentional fluke and they are currently working on fixing it, so problem somewhat averted. Although many of the new features added seem to be of much annoyance, and rightfully so. Sometimes when they add something new it can be something I don't care for so I ignore it, but it seems like they keep adding new stuff that isn't really necessary and without options of turning it off and yeah, it's understandably annoying.

Date: 2010-09-01 04:14 am (UTC)And I have no magical powers since upon further investigation it is doing that for me as well. *sigh*

Date: 2010-09-01 04:07 am (UTC)I'm hoping this is actually a temporary fluke when they were adding on the new features and it screwed something up in the system, otherwise they are going to be facing a shitload of angry people.

Date: 2010-09-01 04:52 am (UTC)And what is with the Facebook and Twitter thing? I don't get it.

Date: 2010-09-01 04:59 am (UTC)I don't get the Facebook/Twitter thing either. Also I don't get the function of pingbacks. *is confused*

Date: 2010-09-01 07:20 am (UTC)And I hope they get the / thing fixed soon! It's very annoying.

Date: 2010-09-01 07:36 am (UTC)I agree, it is very annoying although I think it happened today so the fact that they're getting on it immediately is a good thing. Although I think they should listen to what people are saying about the new add-ons with the FB/Twitter and this thing of Pingbacks when I have no idea what all that is about.

Date: 2010-09-01 01:32 pm (UTC)Why so stupid LJ?

Date: 2010-09-01 05:04 pm (UTC)What I don't get is why they're adding these new features without notifying their users beforehand, or taking votes on whether this could benefit us and if there should be an option for those that want new features or not. I mean, the whole connection thing with FB/Twitter is certainly not something a lot of people want, with keeping themselves separate from their IRL communications. I mean, it's a nice thought, but a little consideration would be nice.

Date: 2010-09-01 05:16 pm (UTC)I completely agree, but that would require them to think things through and it doesn't seem like they do that most of the time.

Date: 2010-09-02 04:24 am (UTC)ALSO OMG, I DID NOT REALIZE THEY FUCKED WITH MY TAGS TOO. JESUS ON A POGOSTICK. How am I supposed to get my fangirl time on in my fic comms????

Date: 2010-09-02 04:37 am (UTC)They're attempting to fix the tags bit but everything else it seems like they're "compiling comments" (http://news.livejournal.com/129190.html?thread=87522726#t87522726) in order to make a decision on what needs to be changed when it's abundantly clear that nobody wants this feature. I think the main frustration for me is that they seem to update the site without really notifying us about what they're adding as new features. Wouldn't it be better if they were to ask people whether they wanted this feature in the first place, or anything else they try to update with? It seems rather inconsiderate.
