++ Apparently my sleep schedules gone whacked for reasons stated previously in my RL post, I don't know whether it's insomnia or I'm oversleeping via naps and I have just screwed myself over from that entirely. And you know those nights where you're trying to fall asleep but just can't no matter how hard you try? Yeah, just had one of those nights. Not fun. Le sigh.

++ WONDER GIRLS will be making their American debut! First BoA and now Wonder Girls? I'm liking this sudden change of pace of Asian artists making their headway into the Western music scene, and this has me hoping that they'll collaborate together. The unfortunate thing is they'll be touring with the freaking Jonas Brothers. Srsly JYP, the JoBros? Srsly? I'm sorry, but WONDER GIRLS >>>> JOBROS ANYDAY. They are way too classy for that shit. Nevertheless though, it's the marketing strategy to gain more audiences here which I understand, and judging from the articles coming out with this news they are suggesting that the girls won't be changing their style other than translating their lyrics from Korean to English, so that's good. Hopefully they'll break out onto their own after getting their first exposure to the American audiences, and I'm sure they will. 'Cause they are just that amazingly fierce like that.

++ New fandoms are shiny and fun. I've just started getting into Numb3rs (I know, where've I been right?) and kinda loving it actually. The Big Bang Theory is too hilarious for words, like really. I've also just started watching the Korean drama 90 Days, Falling In Love Days which is a drama dealing with the taboo of two first cousins falling in love in something like a Romeo and Juliet drama story in a sense. I've just begun and am on the second episode, but so far I'm liking it, even if the subbing sucks ass. More on new fandoms discovered for later when I have something coherent to say about them.

++ Reading spoilers for Heroes next season and I have to say, I'm not entirely impressed. It seems like the same-old schtick they've been doing for the last three seasons now, aside from the casting spoilers that have been announced. I don't know, not enthusiastic to be honest.

++ MISHA COLLINS MANIPPED HIMSELF! I really wish the show didn't make it out to be mainly about the Petrelli's and Sylar all the time, it being a huge ensemble cast and all they should focus more on everyone than just a few characters. Because really, they spend way too much time on "main" characters and less time on characters that need the screentime and development, and those said characters always get pushed to the side or forgotten (Molly anyone? Whatever happened to her? Same with Monica, seriously). So yeah. I've already left the fandom, I just keep tabs on what's happening just in case anything's changed. Clearly from the descriptions not much.

I know, I hate how the show is like the Petrelli Show. When it first started there was definitely a much better feel to it, as it cycled around different cast members. Don't they realize that the best ensemble shows make use out of all their characters? Nothing pisses me off more than the utter crap that Heroes has turned into after having such potential.

Well for me, I have liked Claire since season one but I agree the storylines for her are getting kind of weak. I liked her semi-heroics in S3, it was nice to see her finally getting into the action for a change, and I wish they'd have more of that instead of the same-old "Claire goes to school, Claire meets someone to corrupt her" kind of schtick.

Mainly a lot of things they have in store for the characters are precisely the exact same thing we've seen them doing before, especially focusing primarily on the Petrellis and Sylar (even though Sylar is in disguise as Nathan and doesn't know it due to being mind-whammied, and I'll admit to being interested in seeing how Adrian does as Sylar-being-Nathan-being-Sylar thing...) They really need to focus more on other characters, or you know actually have one of the main characters die without resurrecting them in some form.

It's sad because I loved the show during S1 and even S2, but S3 is where I was turned off completely. Just from watching that premiere it didn't feel like the same show, everything was so scattered and a fucking mess, not even Mohinder's pretty could make me continue watching the show (which I didn't see much about him in those descriptions, or have they forgotten him too?) So much potential show, and you blew it with craptastic storylines just to make things interesting without giving any regard to continuity and characterizations. *shakes head*

What I had to do was force myself to stay awake when I want to sleep, then finally let myself crash when it gets at least 8pm. That seems to regulate it for me :o

I don't know if BoA will make it "big" here in the US, judging from the huge marketing she'll have to do and how diverse the music industry really is. Utada did try doing that years ago but I don't think she had the proper promotion which is why she bombed, but it seems that BoA and the Wonder Girls are getting their names with other big names here (Sean Garret, Jonas Brothers, signing with CAA), so I think they'll do fine. I also think this is probably a time where international artists may have a break into the Western music scene it seems. BoA held off after being in the business for quite some time, and I think the time is right for her to step it up a notch.

Anyway, having bought BoA's English album I am loving what she's putting out, so hoping both she and the Wonder Girls make it alright here (and part of me wants to protect them from the ignorant assholes who will give them shit, but that's by default).

Summer hiatuses are times where I can catch up on fandoms, and Asian dramas are one of them. Like you, it's a way of making time go by and preparing myself for when our shows return for the fall. And there are A LOT of dramas I've been meaning to watch for some time.

I think that it's somewhat obvious that the show was beginning to unravel near the end of the first season--they had too many ideas they were trying to fit in, added to the fact they had these "break out stars" they had to keep around, etc.

If Mohinder's in it any less I am going to freak the fuck out. And the lack of Mohinder and Sylar interaction is pissing me off SO MUCH. I have never heard of a sci-fi show that didn't at least TRY to appease the fangirls by giving ONE OR TWO scenes between characters. Fuck, look at how long SG-1 lasted, and that gave us one guy leaving another guy's office naked except for a flag wrapped around him and no explanation! And I'm not saying this solely as a slasher, but as someone who really enjoyed their fucked up bromance. Also, the constant focus on Claire and Ali Larter's characters as the main females drives me nuts--practically every other female character (except Maya) was better than they are.

That's the thing, how they manage to keep their "main characters" around more because it's what they think keeps the show afloat. Not so. I liked it for the characterizations and storylines when it was actually decent, and that was on S1, but beyond that things got even less and less about the characters and more and more about keeping the show "interesting".

Mohinder was the only good thing about the show until late, and if they minimize his character I'll be so pissed like, seriously. I loved Hayden and Ali, still do, but I agree they should have more kickass females on the show (hell, they should've kept Daphne as the kickass spunky girl she was and not have her in that stupid love thing with Matt).

Shit, I know! Before the chars got popular, back in that Spring before the show started (I remember because I got the pilot leak wayyyy early haha), they were actually talking about how they were only going to keep a few characters into the next season--the show's focus was going to switch and only a few people (like maybe Mohinder, who's the narrator) would be there to keep it linked to the old chars. I thought it was a BRILLIANT idea. If they'd actually done that, it may have pissed some fans off, but it would have been bold and probably drawn more people in. Hell, it would have given them the chance to come up with even more interesting characters and find more talented actors to get their big break, too.

I LOVE Mohinder. I can't stand all the Mohinder-hate. I like that he's always kinda waffling between morality and science, that he wants to do the good thing but isn't always sure what that is. It makes him fascinating and it makes him human. Fuck, I even like that he has super strength now, because it's possibly the most stupid, worthless power to give someone like him and that makes it kinda ironically awesome.

That's another thing--why the fuck do the females have to be someone's love interest? Excuse me, but I'm pretty sure I don't spend every significant moment of my life being with someone, or even crushing on someone. Elle was best before that bullshit Sylar stuff, same with Daphne and the Matt nonsense. And Monica was awesome just being her, too. The writers already make them some guy's nemesis or daugher or cousin, why the hell do they need to be defined by a male?

I liked Claire in season one, and then in season two it was kind of like, why is Claire there? It seemed like she was there for the sake of being there. It was the same for the third volume, but she was less there just to be there for the last volume. I hope it's not back to volume two/three Claire next season.

I think Sylar being Nathan remembering being Sylar should be interesting. Sylar pretending to be Nathan in season two was pulled off pretty well, so I think it will work. I just hope that the storyline won't end up being epic fail.
