Fanmix: Gaius/Six - Love & Madness

rogueslayer452Due to the massive amounts of BSG goodies that's coming out before S4 and also jonsing for S4 to be out like, right frakking now, my inspiration hit to make a fanmix. This one in particular is dedicated to one of my favorite pairings of the entire BSG universe: Gaius Baltar and Six. It's quite an unusual, but sensual pairing that it's hard to resist wanting them together, be it the Six that lives inside his head or Caprica-Six, the three-dimensional Six he had an affair with on Caprica before the attacks. As usual in my pattern of creating mixes, I tried to fit songs that matched each of their personalities and the feel of their overall relationship. Thus asking the very question: does loving someone so much lead to insanity, or is love itself madness?

Gaius Baltar has been seduced by the Cylon model Number Six; he'd betrayed his people, unbeknownst to him by conspiring and allowing the Cylons to annihilate nearly the entire human population, but he is still haunted by the image of this woman that only he sees everywhere. Seducing and manipulating him, and even though he knows it's wrong he doesn't stop it. Because he loves her, and she loves him, and despite their odd relationship there is nothing he would like better than to be with her, even if it kills him to do so.

02. "Outta My Head" by Ashlee Simpson
When you think of Gaius Baltar, you think of a brilliant scientist, but also when you meet him you'll see that he's kind of an oddball. Slightly out of his mind, if not just strange altogether. In truth he's just trying to conceal the fact that he has a Cylon living inside his head, tempting him and making him do things that she believes will lead him to his "destiny". Though sometimes, Gaius just wants to be left alone to himself without her influence (though that doesn't work as effectively, either, as he still comes off an insanely strange man).
Lately, I've got a problem with the way that you behave
You're too much, and all your questions don't leave me no time for me
And all I hear is ay ya ya ya ya
You're talking way too much
I can't even hear me now

03. "She Is My Sin" by Nightwish
She is the face of the angel, he holds the knowledge of the fate of the human race; together they are bound by sin, taking the long hard road through hell as she guides his hand through the thick and thin. No matter what happens, whether he is hated among his own kind, being threatened and tried for treason and crimes against humanity, he will forever be drowned in blasphemy because his Angel of God is his forever sin.
Take heed, dear heart
Once apart, she can touch nor me nor you
Dressed as one
A wolf will betray a lamb
Lead astray the gazers
The razors on your seducing skin
In the meadow of sinful thoughts

04. "Siren" by Majandra Delfino
Both have been tempted and seduced by each other, giving into the love that is forbidden. Gaius fell into the trap of falling for a Cylon, even long afterwards he still loves her despite being tricked, and whether it's with the one he was with on Caprica or the imaginary one he sees everywhere he cannot deny his feelings. Six was only supposed to seduce him and complete her mission, but instead she fell into the temptation of feeling and experiencing human love and therefore, going against her own kind's rules, she feels strongly connected to Gaius Baltar. Both have been the tempted and the seducers, and both are willing to betray their own race to follow their hearts.
Caught in this trap, you sneer as I fall
My list of desires, your company is all
You come as a siren who lures me to betray
I have come as a temptress,
Unaware that I'd be losing at my game
05. "Angry Angel" by Imogen Heap
However, despite her best tendencies and his love, sometimes Gaius Baltar refuses to listen to the advice Six gives him or finds himself tired of her same charade. This ultimately leads to bad things, which Six plans on punishing him for his disobedient behavior in not believing in her or the Cylon God. He does learn, eventually.
And he always will, get his thrills, the only way he knows how

But he loves, being that dove, roaming where he cares to go
To a state of mind that no-one knows

Some say it's dangerous to fall in love, because you'll end up becoming addicted to it and you'll fall hard when it lets you down. Sometimes it'll lead you to madness, and sometimes it can lead to other destructive things altogether. This love addiction Gaius and Six have can be very lethal and can only lead to a downfall, but nevertheless they will cling to each other, because if they're going down they're going down together.

Theirs is an undying love, and whether they want to let the other go they know they cannot. Gaius feels nothing else matters while Six feels like he's slipping away, but even then they will never let each other go. Together they are forces of nature, and they will never find another that shares what they have.

Date: 2008-03-10 07:50 pm (UTC)Gaius/Six are a twisted and complex couple, but so much love nonetheless. There's just something about their scenes and how they interact. And seriously it doesn't matter which Six he's with. Caprica-Six, his virtual Six or Gina, there is always some sort of different chemistry between them that it's impossible NOT to love them. ♥

There was no Gaius/Six in Razor (and quite literally no Gaius at all), but there was Gina, the Six copy on Pegasus who apparently was Admiral Cain's lover before being discovered she was a Cylon agent.
I really do think you should try to watch the series or full episodes if you can, because everything is inter-connected with everything else and such a complex universe, much like Heroes in a way.
