++ Furthering evidence of Russel T. Davies being, well, anything but forgiving of what he did with Torchwood. I never had much of an opinion of RTD before this, though his comments seem to be less compassionate or understanding and more of the douchenozzle type. But I'm kind of conflicted here. On one hand I appreciate the honesty he gives and not letting fandom influence his decisions, on the other hand he just doesn't quite get it or understand fandom as he so claims he does and seems to be answering the questions with this rude tone, and is seen rather pretentious and standoffish than supportive and understanding. All I can say is there could have been a more tactful way of addressing these issues about Children of Earth rather than insulting the fanbase that didn't like it, just saying.

++ MULAN LIVE ACTION TEASER-TRAILER! A Starlight International Media Group production, based off of the actual legendary tale of Hua Mulan, not the Disney animated movie.

++ Getting into a new fandom: Middleman, all thanks to the DVDs and the little tidbit that I hope is true that if there's enough DVD sales of the first season they'll renew the show? Am I hearing that right? If so, that's amazing and I'm crossing my fingers that it works, because that means this could yet be another method of getting an almost-doomed series prevented of cancellation! *g* And really, Middleman is HILARIOUS.

++ I heard about what happened on Torchwood, and while I haven't seen it I just have to say that due to the wide range of reactions seen all over, unless by some miracle everything is straightened out by the next episode, the show just lost half of its fanbase and I am totally not joking here. It's funny because I'm like way behind on watching the show and I'm not even part of the fandom anyway, but reading what happened? Yeah, I couldn't avoid it.

++ I think this has just revived my love for Katie Cassidy:

The only reason for me to watch this show... )

Even though I'd really wished Katie had stuck around to play Ruby in SPN despite the direction they took the character in season four, she's been getting amazing gigs and rising up in her career since her appearance. So, yay! I'm happy for her, and will practically follow her wherever she goes. Because she is awesome. ♥

++ Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!", and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your journal, and explain what they mean to you.

kitsu84 gave me: MISHA-FUCKING-COLLINS, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, JOSS WHEDON, META and DEAN/CASTIEL. )

++ So it seems that SciFi wants to have another space-opera series now that Battlestar Galactica is done, wanting something along the lines of Firefly and Farscape. Part of me wants them to really consider picking up Ron D. Moore's Virtuality because, dammit, it has the potential of being a space opera mystery for sure with the setup the pilot-movie had. In fact, I think this would be the perfect time to pitch it to SciFi and see if they'll bite. Because it's RDM after all. Of course, I wonder what else they would have in mind along the space opera genre.

Tuning into BBC America, I've been strangely addicted to Torchwood and Coupling. The latter is freaking hilarious, and is basically the British version of Sex and the City. Quite intriguing, it is. Torchwood is a show I knew I would be interested in, considering it's a spinoff of another show I like, and another reason is obviously for John Barrowman. I watched "Day One", and let me tell you there is nothing more interesting than watching an episode about an alien that murders by feeding off of human orgasms. Good stuff.

For the Asian dramas, I finally finished watching Anna san no Omame, and probably am going to start Gokusen and Unfair. I've been meaning to watch Gokusen for a while but haven't gotten around to it. Unfair is definitely worthwhile because it involves an intelligent, kickass female homicide detective; think early Veronica Mars, but cold with more guts.

I'll also be renting some movies this weekend. It's been a while since I've done so, and I have compiled a list of films I have yet to see and/or have been recommended to me.

Last night on The Daily Show there was a segment report about a new reality show on CBS called Kid Nation, and even though disturbing as the clips they showed I wanted to research what all of this was really about for myself and....What. The. Fuck. They seriously thought this would be considered a good "educational" idea? It's like a retarded version of The Tribe mixed with Lord of the Flies; like kids know anything about creating a viable society by their lonesome selves. First of all, they don't care about making their own government because soon they'll be back home, where their protection bubble and familiarity is, doing what they normally do. Let them come face-to-face with a REAL society epidemic without dealing with cameras of being on television, and see how they handle it. Otherwise I think it's a joke, highly disturbing and doesn't really do anything other than subject these kids into a situation, being filmed willingly therefore entirely scripted, where they have to do what adults do daily. I haven't seen the show, and I'm thankful for that, because reality TV doesn't appeal to me anyway. This just adds another reason to avoid it at all costs.

Just a little venting there. I saw the snippet shown last night and was just befuddled with what I saw. Like, what are these producer people smoking?! Seriously.

-♠- "Damn You, Joss Whedon!": There's an exclusive interview with Josh Friedman, the producer of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, as he gives an inside look at what's to be expected with this new series. On the third page, he gushes over casting Summer Glau for this particular role. Yes, there are indeed spoilers regarding the show itself, read the article at your own risk. But for those wanting to just read about Summer Glau, it's directed here and is luckily the first question asked.

-♠- From Sunnydale To Torchwood: In most recent news, it seems that James Marsters will be guest-starring on the BBC DW spinoff series Torchwood, which'll be airing sometime next year.

-♠- It's Time To Save Take Over The World!: The Heroes World Tour is an event where the cast and creators of the NBC hit-series Heroes will be traveling globally for the anticipation of the international premiere of its second season this fall, along with the release of the first season onto HD-DVD. As it's being noted, all cast members have been signed on and will be appearing on this international tour. For further information about these upcoming events, check out the official press release for more details. This is incredibly exciting news! As a fan myself I would kill, Sylar-style of course, to attend one of those. But alas, my schedule is unpredictable so there's no telling what might happen.

-♠- The Queen Has Arisen: From an Oricon poll asked which gender/age group is more likely to pick up Namie Amuro's newest album PLAY, the statistics showed that women in the twenties and thirties are more likely to pick up the album, and with men in the teens and forties. Why is the important? Because it shows proof that Namie is still holding strong way into her career without having to manuver or downplay her style to appease the polls and the audience; she has grown and matured over the years as has her music, and I think that's why people love her so much. I also have a feeling that PLAY will become highest ranked album of the summer.
