++ As I've been catching up with [community profile] snowflake_challenge, I've also been using this opportunity to comment on people's posts who participated in the challenge. It's something I haven't done before from the previous years of doing Fandom Snowflake, mainly being rather nervous and awkward with interacting with someone who I didn't know, but this being a fandom event part of the reason why these things exist is to be interactive with one another. It's part of the reason why I miss that sense of community, what I used to do on LJ plenty of times. I like being able to talk with people about fandom things, and this is a good way of doing so.

This is definitely a process that I'm relearning myself. As someone who constantly harps on wanting more of a fandom community in these kinds of spaces, I need to do my part in making that happen, and part of my goals for this year and the future is to do that, which I am.

++ Critical Role wrapped its third campaign. I kinda stopped watching midway through and only paid attention to the highlights of what was going on, and the finale episode was eight hours long (why they couldn't have split it into two four hour long episodes, I don't know). Most of my thoughts are jumbled to make coherent sense and I'll make a longer post soon, but my brief overall feelings about this campaign can be summed up to this:

I mainly feel underwhelmed by campaign three, which is disappointing because it had a lot of potential especially in the beginning and yet it didn't really stick the landing for me. The pacing, the structure, the way that this campaign was designed felt rather stilted and disconnected from what I was expecting and what I was hoping for, and it felt like so much was happening and yet nothing happened at the same time. For a campaign that focused a lot of its plot on urgency, it was an agonizing slow-burn that fizzled out with a whimper by the end. I don't know. I have a lot of disorganized thoughts which I'll sort out later, but as a whole I think C3 had an idea, I didn't dislike the idea initially, but some things just missed the mark too much that I didn't enjoy where the direction of the story was going and how it was handled in the end. So yeah, it's underwhelming and disappointing. I enjoy the cast being goofballs at the table and there were a lot of great individual moments throughout the campaign that I loved, but as a story narrative meant to be a swan song for the world of Exandria I just didn't care much for it, to be honest.

++ I don't care about football or the Super Bowl, but that Kendrick Lamar halftime show segment? *chefs kiss*

I also had a hard time responding to other people's posts at first, but then I found it to be fun. I discovered some new journals and fics this way, so that's definitely a win. But it was also fun to see what everyone else thinks are interesting things about their fandom experience.

It's good that you're commenting on other people's posts more often!

Yeah, I kinda stopped watching the campaign midway through as well. I think the numerous breaks hampered the pacing of the campaign itself, to be honest. (Breaks are essential, don't get me wrong, but yeah.) I disengaged from the campaign and learned about important plot points through osmosis, i.e. social media. Ultimately, it's their campaign, their game, and I'm glad they had fun. Was it for me? Eh. Will I read lots of meta about it? Yep.

...that Kendrick Lamar halftime show segment? *chefs kiss* - Same!

I'm definitely with you re commenting in fandom. I love to harp on how impersonal and content-mill-esque it all feels but I'm not actually doing a whole lot to combat that besides leaving AO3 comments and tumblr fanart reblogs. Never feels like enough though, y'know?

I've also been thinking about the snowflake challenge. I'd never actually seen it before til this year, at which point it was already like halfway through. I thought about playing catch up then, but I felt too awkward about it. I honestly wish I had, because I'm still thinking about doing it. Seeing you do it after the fact as well is making me want to even more. Just have to bite the bullet I suppose ^^

Also hi, I realize you posted this entry like two weeks ago but I'm clicking around playing catch up after being off DW for a few weeks.
