Surprisingly, there was no ballpit.
Mar. 8th, 2024 03:39 am++ This was announced a little while ago, but furthering information regarding the 2023 Hugo Awards fraudulent scandal reported that was occurred is much worse than what most thought. Although this isn't the first time disenfranchisement has happened regarding the Hugo Awards event, it's certainly a first on a scale like this that has been exposed. Major yikes.
++ On a more lighter note, the whole Willy Wonka Experience in Glasgow has truly been wild to read about. It's been compared to the likes of other disastrous events such as Dashcon and Fyre Festival since it was clearly run by scammers, although with the added element of everything having been AI generated, from the website where you could purchase tickets to apparently the scripts given to the hired actors at the last minute, including the AI created bizarre creepypasta element of a villain called "The Unknown" that hides in the walls of the factory. As hilariously bad as the event was and clearly created some form of entertainment for online memes and such, it does raise another concerning point regarding AI scams. Being scammed in general is horrible enough, but with the unfortunate rise of AI being used everywhere the possibility of easily being scammed through AI advertisements is going to be high.

Date: 2024-03-08 05:37 pm (UTC)I adore the Willy Wonka experience drama. I feel badly for the people who paid money for that. Still it's a delightful disaster. It also highlights that AI is really not going to be good for us in a lot of ways.
