Long live the fighters!
Jan. 19th, 2024 01:33 amTo celebrate its 40th anniversary, David Lynch's 1984 Dune adaptation will be re-released in theaters in February on the 18th and 19th only. While we have the movie on DVD (both versions, the theatrical and the extended cut), it would be absolutely amazing to watch it on a big screen. It's also something that people should experience for themselves, especially to compare and contrast the newest Dune adaptation (although if you're avoiding spoilers for the second part coming out later this year I would advise not going to this event). I know that David Lynch refuses to talk about or acknowledge this movie, however for all its flaws and imperfections I still adore it. It's unique in its own way. It has quite a cast (including Sting with his Space Underwear), great costumes, the soundtrack by Toto, the adorable pug, the sandworms that are quite phallic in design as well as the Navigator that has a mouth like a vagina that I'm positive was done on purpose.
Additionally, for anyone who hasn't seen it and are interested, there is the fan-edited version of movie, which was a project done by a devoted fan who wanted to fix and improve the film and turn it into what it could've been by editing in additional/deleted scenes and making it more like the book as much as possible.
