++ The third episode of Narrative Telephone by the Critical Role cast is up, and it's just as hilarious as the last two episodes. Honestly, this is probably my favorite thing they've done since these stay-at-home orders halted their continuation of the second campaign. It works great that they get to revisit certain characters by telling a short story, the retellings are absolutely hilarious, and I love seeing their reactions to watching the retellings of the story devolve. I have laughed until tears are in my eyes, and it really makes it so worth it waiting for each new episode.

++ It has been confirmed that Katee Sackhoff will be reprising the role of Bo-Katan, the character she voices in the The Clones Wars animated series, in the second season of The Mandalorian. First of all, because I'm so out-of-the-loop since I don't really pay attention to these things I didn't even know that Katee voiced her in that show, so all the fancastings and fan wishes for her to play a live-action version of the character makes so much more sense now. Secondly, and more importantly, Katee will be back on my television screen! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

I am curious, though, what the second season of The Mandalorian will entail. There have been a lot of casting announcements about certain characters appearing in the upcoming season and while it's intriguing, it does make me a little worried on how fast things will go because, like I mentioned before, I enjoy a slow-burn. I don't want them to immediately jump headfirst into bigger plots or territories of that nature as soon as the second season premieres. I want them to take their time unraveling things. Surely, these will most likely be cameos and they'll most likely guide Din and the Baby to their next destination or mission, but still. I don't know. It may seem like I'm whinging a bit, but it's mostly because the first season was so good and I don't want them to feel pressured by Disney to go bigger and grander to keep audiences interested.

You might want to check out of some of the Clone Wars episodes Katee's appeared in as Bo-Katan, including the last few. (Clone Wars is largely an anthology show, so you don't need to watch every episode)

Perhaps I should, since the only things I know about Clone Wars is through information videos I've watched to get some background on certain pieces of lore.

I'm a bit worried about all the cameo announcements because it makes me feel like they don't have faith in the show, that they need to cram all these other characters in to it to get people to watch?

Yeah, because one of the things I loved about the first season was that it didn't need any big name character of the franchise to appear to make it enjoyable, it was just as enthralling to watch as everything progressed. It was refreshing, focusing on characters that we didn't know. Now, with so many announcements being made, it makes it feel like they're being pressured into adding as many characters as they can for cameos to get people interested when....that's the opposite of what most fans want.

I'm still cautiously optimistic that the final product will be good and want to have faith in Favreau and Filoni, but there's still this worry that they're giving into demands of making the second season bigger and grander and more action-packed that some reviewers complained was lacking in the first season (something I never understood, tbh). IDK.

We will definitely watch the second season because the first season was fun. But I'm really worried they are going to over-extend...kind of like Stranger Things, creating too many plot lines with the idea that they have infinite seasons to wrap things up.

That's been my worry, too. Stranger Things is a perfect example of a show that bought into its own hype, because the first season was perfect, but then they started focusing too much on adding as many 80s pop culture references as possible and not enough development of the characters. And with The Mandalorian, the first season was solid but knowing Disney, they'll probably want to milk its success in any way they can in order to keep people being subscribed to their service and that notion bothers me.

I don't know. I don't want to worry too much, but the more announcements of cameos that'll appear the more I get concerned that they're focusing too much on special guest appearances more than on our main characters.

I adore Narrative Telephone - it's practically one of the only things that's gotten me through the week, lol.

Oooh, Katee Sackhoff! That should be interesting.

She's had some pretty interesting roles in recent years, but it's amazing how she's been in two legendary scifi franchises, BSG and SW. :D

I still haven't seen it yet. However I've seen people rag on it, though. :/ Not that it means much, because sometimes I love things that many hate.

It was such a pleasant surprise when I find out, like I knew that people were fancasting her but I didn't expect anything to come from it. Now I know that it's possible because she is the voice actor for the character! lol Still, I'm excited, and it makes me wonder how she'll look dressed up as Bo-Katan, live-action. :D

It's interesting reading your thoughts on the Mandalorian. I'm kind of skeptical about the announcements and rumours. I so enjoyed that it was quite stand-alone compared to all the other SW content out there, all these potential cameos make me feel a bit iffy about the whole thing.

Especially the Boba Fett rumour. I'm only here for OT Jeremy Bulloch Boba Fett and EU (or as it's now called, 'Legends') Fett ... Prequel Fett was just ........

bad

imo.

Lol.

My biggest worry is that Disney will do anything to milk the show, considering it was the most successful hit since the launch of the streaming service, so I have no doubt that in their minds they'll want to ensure that people will keep watching (and keep being subscribed) by adding in as many things as possible. While I want to have faith in Favreau and Filoni, I don't trust Disney/Kathleen Kennedy to not intervene when it comes to these kinds of decisions.

I don't know. I'm a mixture of curiosity and wariness. I don't know if the second season is even done filming yet (I thought so, but these announcements make it seem like they're just casting these people so idk), and we know that season three was already a go-ahead. I would feel better if some of these announcements were for the upcoming third season, since it wouldn't seem so crammed.

Yes, I'm worried about that too. I really hope they remember the formula that made the first season so successful, and not fall into any of those established SW pitfalls that serve only to fuck over dedicated fans.

Narrative Telephone is one of my new favorite things. Just pure happiness. I always laugh so much at least once that my stomick hurts. Can't go to the gym? That's fine, an ep of Narrative Telephone will be sure to give those abs a real workout. xD

I mean, just. Hunter wolf with a beak. Songs that are forgotten almost immediately. Three name changes, none sticking. Ashley Johnson stressing tf out when it's her turn <3 Laura Bailey *harp music*

And etc etc and so on. Gosh, I just adore those people <3

I love that they took the concept of the game "Telephone" and did it in a way that was entertaining to watch, not just for us but for them too. They clearly love seeing it all devolve from the original story that is being told and seeing each other struggle. It's hilarious. I think it's even more hilarious when you have Matt Mercer, a masterful storyteller in his own right, struggle with retelling a story, even if it's after someone else's attempt at retelling it. It's so great.

I also feel for Ashley, because I also have a shit memory and it takes me several listens/watches of something before I can fully memorize it. So the notion of just listening to something once and then having to retell it on the spot is just horrifying. But I love how she loves these people so much that she's willing to put up with these shenanigans, lol.

I'm just glad that they're providing us with such A+ content like this.

Yeah, that was such a brilliant thing to do. And I'm really glad that the audience loves it so much, so they can keep doing it for however long they want. I really loved in the latest ep, how excited Matt seemed at the idea of trying again but making it harder this time around. xD

Oh, same. It would be mortifying to do. But like her, I would absolutely do it to just get to do something with people I love. I really loved when she said that, about not liking it but doing it anyway because she loves them7wants to do stuff with them/whatever the exact phrasing was.

Truly. They have really been so creative with the content they've put out now, even thought they can't meet in person. This hilarious game, and AWNP being a wholesome group chat/check-in-with-friends, two things I really take some comfort in having to watch rn. A+ content indeed. :D

Yes! I cannot wait for that. Knowing how brilliant of a storyteller Matt is, seeing him go all hard mode on them (harder than they already seem to be doing lately, that is) is going to be entertaining.

Yeah, and while I know that it was filmed a bit before the stay-at-home order, I really adore Critter Hug! Matt and Mica Burton are perfect for hosting this show, and I love how Mica has just become part of the CR family now, as she should be.
