Date: 2020-02-20 04:23 am (UTC)I like Alec a lot, he's one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, but I like him for the character he actually is; I don't like at all how some of his fans, especially in their fanfic, have tried to whitewash everything he's ever done and portray everything he's ever said about, for instance, Max and Logan as the gospel truth. Such missing of the point.
Or the Max/Alec ship. Given that they work better as siblings (so I'm against Max/Zack for the same reason), and that the same fans that pair him with Max also seem to hate Max for every time she clashed with him and only pair them so he'll be on top by being with the main female, and tend to have Logan and Asha act as OOC stalkers in their fics - I'm never a fan of resolving a love triangle that way. With everyone being their canonical self, Max and Logan are so much better suited for each other.

Date: 2020-02-20 08:43 pm (UTC)The way Tumblr operates when it comes to what shows get circulated and popular, whether new or old, has always confused me.
And now it's mostly Supernatural fans wanting to only watch the second season of Dark Angel because Jensen is in it a lot without bothering to watch the show from the beginning and enjoying it for what it is, and like you said, misunderstanding the character of Alec because of that. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've done that for some of my favorite actors too, but sometimes I end up actually enjoying a show that features them instead of just skipping around. I remember liking Alec well enough when the show aired, but now I just see him being exactly like Dean in the earlier seasons of SPN which kind of puts me off entirely. IDK. S2 was rather weird as a whole and it's not a season I revisit that often, tbh.
