++ There are still a few more days left for my AMA meme, in case anyone hasn't asked a question but would like to.
++ Marriage equality has officially been legalized across the United States. I had just previously mentioned the amount of progression within these last ten years or so regarding marriage equality and recognizing the rights within the LGBT+ community, and while the latter still has ways to go, the fact that marriage equality has finally been ruled legal across the nation is such an overwhelming feeling. Although it is somewhat bittersweet since there will be some states where, despite this Supreme Court ruling, it will still be perfectly legal, due to their individual state laws, to openly discriminate and where homophobia and hate crimes will continue to happen. That is something that needs to be fixed and worked on with those individual states alone, so anyone who does live in those places please remain safe. But nevertheless, don't let that damper anyone's spirits since we've seen what kind of progression is possible. This is such a historical moment for our country and society as a whole. It's about damn time, too! Definitely a victory worth celebrating. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
++ "Girls Like Girls" by Hayley Kiyoko has been making the rounds, and not only is the sound super catchy, but the video itself is like a mini-movie. The ending definitely got me, I wasn't expecting that. I highly recommend it. Also, trivia: the singer, Hayley Kiyoko, played the minor character of Stevie on Wizards of Waverly Place. Where I kinda shipped her and Alex, interestingly enough.
++ The Saturn Awards happened last night and not only did Hannibal win three awards (for Best TV Series, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor), but Richard Armitage won for Best Supporting Role in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. HE FINALLY GETS RECOGNIZED FOR HIS TALENTED WORK AS THORIN! AND HIS FIRST EVER AWARD TO WIN! I AM SO PROUD OF HIM! Plus, HE WORE A FLOWER CROWN AT THE EVENT presented to him by those with Hannibal, since it was a running gag amongst the cast for the fans to get everyone to wear flower crowns, to which since Richard is now part of that family he has finally donned his own, and appropriately so after such a successful night at this event. (◕‿◕✿)
++ I just feel really happy right now, honestly. And not just with all this good news too, although it contributed a lot to it. ♥ ♥ ♥

Date: 2015-06-28 08:49 pm (UTC)Just the progression since the early 00s of having states legalize same-sex marriage is remarkable in and of itself, and knowing that the fight has taken even longer to get to this point is unbelievable. ♥
