Apr. 30th, 2015 05:28 pmBoth Revenge and Helix have been cancelled.
While I haven't been watching Revenge recently and am way behind, it makes sense considering what has been happening lately on the show. It just seems time to end it in general, I think. I'm hoping that the series finale will at least be satisfactory (and here's to hoping that Emily van Camp gets involved with either Agent Carter somehow or even Agents of Shield, because that would be awesome). However, I am sad about Helix. I haven't seen the second season yet, but I loved the first season. I was hoping for at least one more season, dammit. And that's always the case, isn't it? Either something overstays its welcome or is prematurely cancelled when it deserved at least one more season, and the latter is mostly just to wrap things up proper.
As for Agent Carter, it hasn't been officially announced yet but all signs point to hopeful that it'll be renewed. Also, talk about the possibility of Peggy/Angie happening? Please, please don't tease me with this because I really want it to be true.

Date: 2015-05-01 08:17 pm (UTC)Helix! I really wanted to like that show. I got through like five episodes of it before I got bored and dropped it, even though it had all the hallmarks of a show I should like (especially the setting!). Dunno what went wrong there.
I so hope Agent Carter gets renewed! That is a show for which I will revive the tired, overused phrase: IT GIVES ME LIFE. Because it does. Truly. And it's funny because I wasn't even going to watch the show initially but then Tumblr gifs lured me into it and I fell in love deeply and suddenly (also I vaguely recall telling you this before and if so I'M SORRY for the repetition. Everything about the show is perfect and Angie and Peggy's relationship is a godsend.

Date: 2015-05-02 09:20 am (UTC)I really enjoyed the first season of Helix. The atmosphere was perfect in setting up the tone -- the isolation, the claustrophobic feel, the setup being legit creepy especially in the beginning; it had all the elements I loved, from the horror aspect to the slow build of piecing the mystery puzzle together. I liked the characters and what was happening. I'm hoping to binge watch S2 soon and see where it all went, and judge whether it was good or not (since I'm hearing differing opinions on that front).
No need to apologize, reiterating that excitement over Agent Carter is more than welcome. :)

Date: 2015-05-01 09:14 pm (UTC)As for Helix, I'm realising now how out of it I must have been in January 2014 when it started having not even heard of it (RL was crazy at that time).

Date: 2015-05-02 07:06 am (UTC)My thoughts exactly. Also, I feel like the show got kind of convoluted in a way, and tried to find different ways of presenting the twists and turns. And honestly, with everything that has happened, I can't see anything else they can do. Ultimately, what made the show good, at least in my eyes, was seeing Emily dishing out her revenge on various people and seeing her going head-to-head with Victoria. The show was delicious nighttime soap opera and I loved it, and even though it lost its steam in the later seasons I will miss it.

To be fair, I haven't heard much about the show anywhere amongst fandom spaces, not even on Tumblr where even the most obscure things tend to make it to my dash.

Date: 2015-05-02 06:05 am (UTC)I remember seeing something like that, as well, to which I'm also in agreement. Last season kind of resolved a lot of what Emily had set out to do from the start, getting her long-waited revenge and clearing her father's name. They really should have just ended it there. But of course, with the cliffhanger showing that David was, in fact, alive after all this time it seemed like they had to go into another season. Which I wouldn't have minded if that storyline was dealt with much differently.

Date: 2015-05-02 11:40 pm (UTC)But yesssss, Agent Carter getting renewed! And I know that Hayley Atwell is a fan of Peggy being bi, but ahhhh.

Date: 2015-05-03 06:13 am (UTC)Well, nothing has been confirmed about it being renewed. I do know that Hayley has been speaking about if (and the possible when) they do the plans and ideas they have to explore for a second season, which she and many others seem hopeful about. But I'm not getting my hopes up until we get the official word.
I do love that she's all in for bisexual Peggy. ♥

Date: 2015-05-03 09:48 am (UTC)As for Revenge, with everything that has been going on it kinda felt that this is gonna be it; especially after the last few events. IDK if I'm that sad that it's going - after all, they have made conclusions and Emily and Voctoria and all that can only go round and round for so long. I just hope they end it right and not screw it up.

Date: 2015-05-04 09:10 am (UTC)And yeah, I think Revenge would've hit a dead-end anyway. They would've run out of ideas of where to go and would've just ended up making shit up to fill in the spaces, which isn't what you want. Basically, the show was already reaching that point of completion (and it a way it did by the end of last season) that there really isn't much they can do. Best to end it on a high note, which is much earlier than anticipated. Next Sunday, I think?

Date: 2015-05-03 02:26 pm (UTC)I am more crushed about Helix. I watched the first season but haven't watched the second yet. It really does feel like stations expect a hit...without putting the promotion into it and then cancel really neat shows.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves concerning the business. Networks gamble on what may become popular and make them money and they either overexpose it or they under promote something depending on what they think will gain more viewership. If something isn't by their standards of ratings then they cancel it. Again, I understand it's a business, but seriously. There are so many amazing shows with potential that end up getting canned because of these ridiculous expectations.
