Both Revenge and Helix have been cancelled.

While I haven't been watching Revenge recently and am way behind, it makes sense considering what has been happening lately on the show. It just seems time to end it in general, I think. I'm hoping that the series finale will at least be satisfactory (and here's to hoping that Emily van Camp gets involved with either Agent Carter somehow or even Agents of Shield, because that would be awesome). However, I am sad about Helix. I haven't seen the second season yet, but I loved the first season. I was hoping for at least one more season, dammit. And that's always the case, isn't it? Either something overstays its welcome or is prematurely cancelled when it deserved at least one more season, and the latter is mostly just to wrap things up proper.

As for Agent Carter, it hasn't been officially announced yet but all signs point to hopeful that it'll be renewed. Also, talk about the possibility of Peggy/Angie happening? Please, please don't tease me with this because I really want it to be true.

I've seen a lot of different news about Agent Carter. Some sites are sure it'll be renewed and others, not so much. Hopefully it's not too long until we find out. (I saw we might get word on it next week?)

Yeah, I've always been hearing different things too on whether it will be renewed or not, even when it was airing. I think we find out within the next week or two. I'm crossing my fingers that it does because I really want more Peggy Carter in my life.

I wasn't sad about Revenge either. I've heard a bunch of stuff about it and idk. I think it was time for it to end. However, I am sad about Helix. I know that the season was a bit rocky, but it has a ton of potential. I really wish we were getting another season to wrap things up.

The beginning of the run was fantastic, though towards like somewhere in the third season I feel like it was losing traction a bit, and honestly I feel like it should have ended there. Even if there were some great points here and there, overall I feel like the show lost some of that steam that originally brought so many people into the fold initially. I mean, I love Emily and her scheming ways, and I would love to just watch her and Nolan plotting and being fabulous together. But yeah, after some of the things the show has done I feel like it was kind of on its way out of the door anyway.

It was! The second season was disappointing though, and I dropped it after season three. I think I was half done with the show when they started hinting that her dad might still be alive and I was just like YOU CAN'T MAKE EVERYONE RETURN FROM THE DEAD. idk, I think it just lost its way lol.

the second season of Helix was pretty terrible though. I only kept watching it, because it was like a trainwreck, and I couldn't look away...

I haven't seen the season yet, so I can't judge on anything, though I have heard that it was rocky for the first half but it got a little better towards the end. I'll have to see for myself once I finally watch it.

Me too. I've been meaning to binge watch what I haven't seen yet, but somehow just...haven't gotten around to it. I guess with the show basically done with I can have all the time in the world without fearing of being behind on so many episodes, huh?

I got bored with Revenge in early s2 mostly because Aiden's entire existence bored me. Judging from what I've heard and seen, things have gone have gotten really, really weird. I do miss Emily Van Camp and the dude who plays Nolan though. Emily's got a great screen presence and her chemistry with Nolan was awesome.

Helix! I really wanted to like that show. I got through like five episodes of it before I got bored and dropped it, even though it had all the hallmarks of a show I should like (especially the setting!). Dunno what went wrong there.

I so hope Agent Carter gets renewed! That is a show for which I will revive the tired, overused phrase: IT GIVES ME LIFE. Because it does. Truly. And it's funny because I wasn't even going to watch the show initially but then Tumblr gifs lured me into it and I fell in love deeply and suddenly (also I vaguely recall telling you this before and if so I'M SORRY for the repetition. Everything about the show is perfect and Angie and Peggy's relationship is a godsend.

I think the show got too convoluted with its plot, since I mostly just watched because I enjoyed seeing Emily scheming and dishing out revenge plans, and of course her relationship with Nolan. I've said before that I would watch an entire series with just them being fabulous and taking over the world, and I still mean that. But as the show itself, too much was going on and I feel like, overall, it lost its steam somewhere down the line.

I really enjoyed the first season of Helix. The atmosphere was perfect in setting up the tone -- the isolation, the claustrophobic feel, the setup being legit creepy especially in the beginning; it had all the elements I loved, from the horror aspect to the slow build of piecing the mystery puzzle together. I liked the characters and what was happening. I'm hoping to binge watch S2 soon and see where it all went, and judge whether it was good or not (since I'm hearing differing opinions on that front).

No need to apologize, reiterating that excitement over Agent Carter is more than welcome. :)

I'm a few episodes behind on Revenge (even behind where it's airing in my ridiculously behind country, so that's pretty bad for me) but hearing it was cancelled didn't come as a big surprise. So many of the original characters have gone, I don't know quite where else it could go.

As for Helix, I'm realising now how out of it I must have been in January 2014 when it started having not even heard of it (RL was crazy at that time).

My thoughts exactly. Also, I feel like the show got kind of convoluted in a way, and tried to find different ways of presenting the twists and turns. And honestly, with everything that has happened, I can't see anything else they can do. Ultimately, what made the show good, at least in my eyes, was seeing Emily dishing out her revenge on various people and seeing her going head-to-head with Victoria. The show was delicious nighttime soap opera and I loved it, and even though it lost its steam in the later seasons I will miss it.

To be fair, I haven't heard much about the show anywhere amongst fandom spaces, not even on Tumblr where even the most obscure things tend to make it to my dash.

Even though I haven't watched it in a while, it really was a good show. I'll miss seeing Emily and Nolan being scheming buddies together and stealthily wrecking havoc in the Hamptons.

Honestly I'm kind of relieved Revenge got cancelled, I shudder to think what lengths they'd need to stretch to for another season! The first season was soapy perfection but it was mostly downhill after that. I think I saw Emily van Camp saying she thought it should have ended last season, so I'm sure she'll be happy to have the time to do other things. Like being Agent 13! \o/ I love Emily so I can't wait to see what she moves on to next.

More Agent Carter will make me SO HAPPY!!

I remember seeing something like that, as well, to which I'm also in agreement. Last season kind of resolved a lot of what Emily had set out to do from the start, getting her long-waited revenge and clearing her father's name. They really should have just ended it there. But of course, with the cliffhanger showing that David was, in fact, alive after all this time it seemed like they had to go into another season. Which I wouldn't have minded if that storyline was dealt with much differently.

I cannot say I am all that surprised about Revenge, it's been dropping in the ratings ever since S2 - so it's a miracle it lasted this long. But I am super bummed about Helix, while S2 was kinda a mess, the finale was actually really good and set up some very interesting things for S3.

At least it got four seasons, which is more than what some shows get nowadays. Like Helix, for example, a show that had true potential but sadly it wasn't recognized or promoted more.

Huh. I was always under the impression that Revenge was always doing alright? It does seem like it'd eventually run out of narrative, though.

But yesssss, Agent Carter getting renewed! And I know that Hayley Atwell is a fan of Peggy being bi, but ahhhh.

I'm not certain statistic-wise, but the show started slipping during the last couple of seasons, at least with the direction they were heading into. I mean it was a good show and I adore Emily and Nolan, but ultimately with everything that has happened it was eventually going to run out of ideas of how to keep the show afloat.

Well, nothing has been confirmed about it being renewed. I do know that Hayley has been speaking about if (and the possible when) they do the plans and ideas they have to explore for a second season, which she and many others seem hopeful about. But I'm not getting my hopes up until we get the official word.

I do love that she's all in for bisexual Peggy. ♥

Yeah, it had that really ominous vibe that I absolutely loved. It truly was a refreshing show that kept me on my toes, especially in the beginning with everything being super creepy, and it made me like the characters and wanting to know more about what was going on and how some of the characters were more intricately involved. It seemed like the show didn't get enough attention though, not even in fandom circles either, and that added to the cancellation which sucks. :(

Another reminder to not watch anything that hasn't been completed. :P I'm getting annoyed by a lot of my favourites being cancelled. Like In The Flesh. Still not over that.

I don't think anyone is over the cancellation of In The Flesh, especially with the bullshit reasoning behind the decision of them wanting to make way for newer shows so they cancel the one that's been a success. What the fuck? So ridiculous.

Exactly! I'm still mad about it. Don't let me even get started on the cancellation of Silent Hills which would have been an infinite cash-grab. I mean, Guillermo del Toro, Norman Reedus and Hideo Kojima in a Silent Hill-package like wtf. People apparently don't like money. :P

I'm sorry to hear about Helix, it's a completely different show and I love what they've done with both S1 and S2. Would've been nice to have an S3 because it has places to go.

As for Revenge, with everything that has been going on it kinda felt that this is gonna be it; especially after the last few events. IDK if I'm that sad that it's going - after all, they have made conclusions and Emily and Voctoria and all that can only go round and round for so long. I just hope they end it right and not screw it up.

It always sucks when the shows that have potential and a story to continue telling ends up getting cancelled. Story of my life with half of my fandoms, really.

And yeah, I think Revenge would've hit a dead-end anyway. They would've run out of ideas of where to go and would've just ended up making shit up to fill in the spaces, which isn't what you want. Basically, the show was already reaching that point of completion (and it a way it did by the end of last season) that there really isn't much they can do. Best to end it on a high note, which is much earlier than anticipated. Next Sunday, I think?

Boo but I get it. Revenge had huge ups and downs. I'm also very behind and I will catch up but I'm not crushed about it.

I am more crushed about Helix. I watched the first season but haven't watched the second yet. It really does feel like stations expect a hit...without putting the promotion into it and then cancel really neat shows.

Date: 2015-05-04 09:02 am (UTC)

I feel like it's better to end it now then for the show to end on a dying whimpering note, you know?

It really does feel like stations expect a hit...without putting the promotion into it and then cancel really neat shows.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves concerning the business. Networks gamble on what may become popular and make them money and they either overexpose it or they under promote something depending on what they think will gain more viewership. If something isn't by their standards of ratings then they cancel it. Again, I understand it's a business, but seriously. There are so many amazing shows with potential that end up getting canned because of these ridiculous expectations.
