I would usually dislike a character like Jayne but the writing + the way Adam played him made me love him. I actually love all 9 main characters, which is why Firefly will always be one of my favorite shows.

I've actually seen some people say that Adam Baldwin basically is Jayne in real life, but that's not true. I find they're the opposite of each other. With Jayne you're ready to hate him, but then you realize there's more to his character than what's on the surface (as you said, thanks to the writing and the acting). And with Adam you're ready to love him because he's part of this fantastic cast, but then he opened his mouth (on Twitter) and just, yeah.
