First, a friending meme, which hello and welcome to everyone who I met from over there.

And now, for a fandom meme:
Give me a fandom and I'll tell you, either in the comments or in a separate post, five unpopular opinions and one headcanon I have for that particular fandom.

I don't really know the Star Wars universe apart from the films, and I don't really have any opinions on them that would be deemed unpopular, much less any headcanons. Sorry. :(

Perhaps pick another one of my fandoms?

Unpopular Opinions

01. I actually liked the seventh season. It wasn't perfect and had plenty of flaws, but for a final season it was alright. I liked the addition of the Potential Slayers, I liked the furthering of the purpose of the First Evil (even though I wished that had been more present throughout the show, but again, flaws), and overall I liked the series finale. If I were to rank the season, it would go (from favorite to least favorite): S3, S2, S1, S7, S4, S6.

02. The more I revisit the show, the more I become disillusioned by some of the things I didn't really have an issue with before. For example, I find myself really disliking Willow, particularly in the later seasons and how she treated certain characters. IMHO, Tara should never have taken her back.

03. I don't view Willow as bisexual. While the lack of conversation regarding sexuality within the narrative was disappointing, she clearly states in-canon that she identifies as a lesbian. Therefore she is a lesbian.

04. I love Dawn, and the unfounded hatred she still gets from fandom appalls me.

05. I like that there was no definitive "endgame" relationship for Buffy, and that all the romances that happened were significant points in her life, but she moves on.

My Personal Headcanon

That being said, in my headcanon after Sunnydale was destroyed, Buffy and Faith ride off into the sunset together on Faith's newly acquired motorcycle and they continue being "hot chicks with superpowers" while rounding up all the Potentials-turned-Slayers. And Cordelia (who totally isn't dead) had continued to remain in contact with them throughout the years after she left Sunnydale, giving them updates after she teamed up with Angel and whatnot, and after everything that happened in L.A. she decided to visit some of them from time to time, even possibly joining up with them after the destruction of Sunnydale and the battle in L.A., which she absolutely participated and kicked major ass in.

D'OH! I can't believe I forgot S5! That kind of goes between S2 and S1 for me, since I really adored that season a lot. :)

Unpopular Opinions

01. I prefer the development that happened in the series for Simon/Kaylee, which was more warm and organic, than in the film Serenity. Similar with Simon and River and how they became part of the family towards the end of the show as opposed to how in the film it made it seem like they were mere outsiders. I know it was a narrative decision for the film, but it doesn't really mesh well with where the series ended to how the film began with character relationships.

02. Despite the disappointment over the racial issues, it hasn't hindered my love or enjoyment of the series and the universe that was created. I just wish it was acknowledged more by the people involved.

03. I've gotten to the point where the declaration of "why was it cancelled?" and "it deserves a second season" has begun to annoy the fuck out of me. Yes, when it initially got cancelled it was heartbreaking and unfair and definitely deserved another network to pick it up for another season. It's a sentiment everyone who has seen the show shares. But look at where we are all these years later. The series has become a cult hit because it was the underdog and spawned so much attention from devoted fans. It got itself a feature film to conclude one of the storylines and give the actors closure for their characters, there are comic books and the online game that continues the 'verse. What other shortly lived show has reached this level? As much as I would have loved for there to have been six seasons of Firefly, I much prefer where we are now. Also it's kind of perfect because 14 episodes that were flawless and a film are much better than endless seasons where it probably would have seen a decline in quality, as most shows, even great ones, unfortunately do.

04. As painful as it is, I can understand why Wash's death was necessary for the narrative of the film. Doesn't mean I have to accept it, but I understand the decision behind it.

05. Jayne Cobb is more likeable than Adam Baldwin.

My Personal Headcanon

(I have quite a few character headcanons, this is an example of one.)

Jayne comes from a very big working class family, where he has mostly sisters and he is quite clearly a mama's boy (evidenced by the money earned from jobs back home and how he proudly wears a knitted hat made by his mother). While his father taught him about finding jobs and taking nobodies side but your own, his mother instilled a level of compassion and loyalty when it comes to those he is employed by. Jayne became a mercenary because he found the job thrilling, and interestingly enough his family didn't oppose to it. His mother only advised him to "be careful" and send home letters letting them know he's okay. Jayne feels strongly about family, perhaps why, out of all the jobs he's had, he considers Mal and the crew on Serenity to be the closest thing to family he has out there in the black. Especially because, despite how much they clash on issues, he sees Mal as a big brother figure that he never quite had. And it's why he doesn't want to disappoint Mal (ex: the way he defends himself and looks ashamed when Mal confronts him in "Ariel", even tells Mal to "make something up" in not revealing to the others what he did).

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

Unpopular Opinions

01. I don't ship Kara/Lee. I found them more destruction together and always brought out the worst in each other (ex: the whole quadruple romance and cheating on their spouses in S3 made them both despicable). There was no denying there was chemistry and UST, but they just didn't belong together. As friends? Yeah. But romantically? Nope.

02. I loved the series finale.

03. I didn't mind the inclusion of the religious and mysticism into the mythos of the world building. It was one of the elements that intrigued me about the show, and I liked that certain things weren't explained and left to us, the audience, to decipher and make sense of it. Much like with everything else the show did.

04. As much as this show presents the amorality of circumstances with characters and how everybody was flawed, I wish there was more acknowledgement and discussion about how Adama and Roslin tended to play favorites especially later in the series. It's one of those things where, in hindsight of revisiting the show, it bothers me to the point where I'm not entirely certain how I should feel about it.

05. I loved Boomer just as much as I loved Athena, and I feel like Boomer was so under appreciated because her story wasn't as predominantly told as Athena's was, especially after she resurrected and remained with the Cylons. I felt like Boomer had a severe identity crisis and her decisions were based off of conflicting feelings and confusion of where she rightly belonged. Her fate, while her decision, makes me sad because she deserved so much better.

My Personal Headcanon

Boomer didn't die, instead after giving Hera back she gets returns to Galactica to make proper amends. She fully expects to be reprimanded or even airlocked for her crimes against those she once loved, especially Adama and Helo, but finds herself forgiven for what she committed and is able to atone for her actions. She goes to Earth with everyone else and is off on her own to find herself beyond taking sides. She finds peace with herself after being accepted with both humans and Cylons that she befriends, and then some time later reunites with Athena, Helo and Hera when they visit Caprica Six and Gaius at their farm.

(I like happy endings, okay.)

DARK ANGEL

Unpopular Opinions

01. Season two was kind of a cluttered mess. There was certainly something that they intended to explore further had the show continued, but I felt like there was just too much introduced and so much stuff happening. It just didn't have the same feel that the first season had. S1 was more based on realism while S2 had more of a wacky science fiction feel that felt really off-kilter to me, and it didn't really mesh with what had already been established in that world, imho.

02. Alec was a rather unnecessary addition to the cast. There should have been less of him and more of the other X-5s.

03. Zack's selfless sacrifice to save Max in the S1 finale should have been the last we saw of him. I didn't like that they brought him back to be turned into this Terminator-like being only to have his memories erased.

I don't really have too many unpopular opinions for this show. The biggest thing I feel strongly about happens to be that I didn't find season two favorable in comparison to the first season, which is why the other two opinions consist of within that season as well. So yeah.

My Personal Headcanon

After Max was captured by Manticore, her other X-5 siblings plot a plan of attack to get her out and from there destroy Manticore once and for all. Also in my headcanon Max didn't get fatally shot so Zack is alive and well, despite being captured along with her, and Max becomes kind of a leader in leading her fellow X-5 brothers and sisters into a war that will surely come from those who were in league with Manticore (somehow fulfilling her "destiny" in the process).

GAME OF THRONES / A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE

(Combining both the books and the show.)

Unpopular Opinions

01. While I have personal choices on who should rule the Seven Kingdoms, I truly believe that nobody will be ruling since the Iron Throne will ultimately be destroyed or forgotten. I also think that the ending of the series will have most characters winding up dead, leaving only the few to survive.

02. I don't care for Tyrion, book or show.

03. My opinions on the show aren't unpopular, since everyone seems to be agreeing that it's turned into utter HBO trash instead of the epic fantasy that is. However, I will say that I don't regret ever having watched the show. It got me introduced to the books which I'm grateful for, and I have enjoyed certain scenes that they've done incredibly well. So, I don't think the success of the show is unwarranted since it did get off to a great start, it just got too caught up in its own hype that it lost all sense of which direction it was going in the narrative.

04. There's been too much talk and discussion about Lady Stoneheart since the uproar about not including into the show that if they were to miraculously include her, that surprise factor would already have been ruined. I also wouldn't trust the show to handle her character anyway.

05. I love Sansa, I feel incredibly protective over her. I also have a fascination for Cersei's character, she's so complicated and complex that I also feel defensive when people call her a "bitch" because yeah, she's done horrible things and nothing excuses them, but there's just so much fascinating things about the reasons behind her actions that I quite like.

My Personal Headcanon

Daenerys and Margaery get to rule the Seven Kingdoms together, Sansa reunites with the remaining members of her family and now rules Winterfell and the North, and they all come together alongside Arianne Martell, the heir and ruler of Dorne, as they take control over the Realm to create peace after the war has ended.

DOLLHOUSE

Unpopular Opinions

01. I actually liked Dollhouse. It wasn't a perfect show, obviously had severe executive meddling that occurred during the first half of the show for sure, but I liked it for what it was. I can see why even Whedon fans weren't too fond of this show, and why some were repelled by its content, but overall I did like the themes and messages that the show was trying to convey, even through sugarcoated glasses until it got darker and more interesting in the second season.

02. As much as I like Echo, Sierra/Priya and her story should have been the main focus of the series.

03. I feel like the first half of the second season should have been fully self-aware Echo and the reveal of Boyd, and the second half should have been what happened in the future after they destroyed Rossum. It would have been perfect given that there were still so many things that weren't properly explained or given a chance to develop. I know it was because of the cancellation, but still.

04. I wasn't bothered by Paul as a character, since I felt he became kind of a deconstruction of the White Knight trope after his failed attempt at saving Echo and then becoming trapped by the Dollhouse as well. I just didn't like the whole Paul/Echo thing. I don't know whether this is an unpopular opinion or not, though.

My Personal Headcanon

I don't know if I have one in particular. I mean, for me Beckett and Whiskey wouldn't have died and would have survived the future, and that Tony and Priya managed to figure things out and be happy together after everything.

VERONICA MARS

Unpopular Opinions

01. I don't like Logan. And even though I initially found them cute in S1, I quickly lost interest in Logan/Veronica when they started doing the on-again/off-again thing where it became all about their relationship and I hated it. I don't like them together and always felt that Veronica could've done much better with someone who actually respected her.

02. I haven't seen the movie and I don't plan to.

03. Season two is my least favorite season. It was such a disaster. Season three was slightly better with how organic it felt, dialogue-wise, but it also had severe faults that I cannot ignore.

04. I actually liked Duncan and Piz.

05. I feel like the show didn't know where it was going to go beyond the Lilly Kane plotline, because part of the charm was how Veronica was dedicated to solving her best friend's murder and the visions/dreams/flashbacks she had featuring her. But once that mystery was solved they tried to follow through with something similar (like Veronica seeing Lilly's apparition in the S2 premiere and saving her life from the bus crash) but it just fell flat, and that was part of what made the show kind of go blah beyond S1, imho.

My Personal Headcanon

Veronica still gets the occasional visit from Lilly, either in dreams or hallucinations, giving her advice on something that has been bothering her. Veronica doesn't question this because she still misses Lilly and considers this part of her subconscious rather than her actual spirit coming for unfinished business. It's actually soothing and calming for her to talk with her best friend. Veronica and Weevil also hook up at some point, because it's been a long time coming.
