++ Richard Armitage has been cast in NBC's Hannibal as antagonist Francis Dolarhyde, and will be appearing in a six-episode arc. I NEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK WHEN I READ THIS, I AM EXCITED AND SO PROUD. (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

++ Gina Rodriguez winning is possibly the only thing I care about re: the Golden Globes. From her acceptance speech to the press room interview afterwards, this is a prime example on why representation is important. Having a culture and people positively represented without being subjected to being stereotyped, of allowing them to become heroes of their own stories, it's a beautiful, beautiful thing. And Gina is so utterly adorable. It's even more exciting that Jane the Virgin was renewed for a second season (alongside The 100 and Reign) when people were doubting its return due to struggling against ratings, but it's been praised and acclaimed by critics and received positive feedback all around regardless. With the renewal, the recognition and the win, I'm just overall very happy. (◕‿◕✿)

++ Another thing I was happy about was the mentioning of Leelah Alcorn during Transparent's win, along with dedicating the award to her and other transgendered youth who are struggling with acceptance with their own families. Her story wasn't just tragic, it was devastating and it makes me angry how heartless and cowardly her parents are with wanting to erase her daughter's identity and silencing her words about the abuse she was suffering. By mentioning her name on national television, hopefully it brings awareness to her story that I'm hoping people will take to heart if they haven't already, and fight against the discrimination, hate crimes and abuse that the transgender individuals face.

I basically freaked out when I saw the headline. This is like a major role he's taking on, and it's going to be fantastic. He's gonna be fantastic, and I can't wait to see what his performance will be like.

I'm really excited for him because this is the kind of role that suits him, performance-wise. It's really meaty and the character is quite complex and it will allow him to go all out with his performance. I know that he's mentioned recently about how portraying Thorin and John Proctor has definitely shaped the way he performs things, especially from acting as Proctor on stage for all those months last year. And here he'll be able to unleash more of that talent. It's such a disturbing and fucked up character on a fucked up show, and I can't wait to see what he brings to the table.

There has always been worry over the show being cancelled due to the network ratings and whatnot, despite how positive critics have been about it. But fortunately the show is still going on into its third season. :)

It's so amazing seeing the journey he's been on, how far he's come. I definitely think with the success of being Thorin from The Hobbit and his stage performance as John Proctor in The Crucible last year has certainly shaped him into becoming the actor he is becoming now.

Some may think that this is nothing, but it's definitely something and not only am I excited to see his performance on the show, but where he'll go from here. :D

Also, reading up more about it, not only is this a role that he will no doubt love because it's so meaty and complex and you know he loves to sink his teeth into such characters, but his appearance will most likely be towards the end of the season, which apparently if the show is renewed he may return to become a series regular (if they're going by the timeline of Red Dragon where Francis is pretty much a main character). I have no idea how the show is planning on doing it, if they will expand his role or just have it be for those six episodes. But either way I AM SO EXCITED AND HAPPY FOR HIM! :D

And I know next-to-nothing about any of the original Hannibal stuff (Hannibal is the first thing I've ever watched, where this world is concerned... so very glad I finally did get into it ♥), but I'm so excited to hear that he'll be playing a major character.
