I didn't particularly care for the last book, but the films have added a little more substance to what is happening within that world and the other characters that I think I'll end up liking what they do, at least for the first part.
It wasn't a good narrative choice, imo. I know there's this need to immerse the readers into Katniss' mind and what she's going through, especially in the first book, but at the same time when so much is building of that world and what's going on throughout the series, particularly with the uprising of a revolution you can't really rely on a first-person narrative without it feeling disjointed and incomplete. Which is why the movies are a better medium to work with that, of filling in the blanks and allowing us to see what is happening outside of Katinss' perspective. So I'm pretty intrigued with how they're going to manage that in these last two films.
