++ The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug exclusive behind-the-scenes sneak peek happened a few days ago, to which has gotten me ridiculously excited for the movie to come out. THORIN AND THRANDUIL! LEGOLAS AND THRANDUIL! TAURIEL! DWARVES IN BARRELS! BARD THE BOWMAN! LAKETOWN! a;sfjd;alskfd;laskdf GIVE IT ALL TO ME NOW! *grabby hands*

++ Pretty Little Liars just got renewed for a fifth season (even though they've just starting to film their fourth), along with getting a spin-off series called Ravenswood. It shouldn't be surprising considering this show is considered widely popular and has a huge following of fans, but it still boggles the mind when things like that happen. I'm also curious about this sister series, which will have their own little mysteries going on. Fortunately, with the same staff working on it and hopefully a talented cast like with our four main Liars, it will be just as good as its predecessor.

++ Additionally, CBS has renewed Elementary for a second season. I mean, there wasn't any doubt in my mind this would happen, but it's still amazing news to hear nonetheless.

++ Game of Thrones and Doctor Who return this weekend! I am both excited and apprehensive for both, for different reasons of course.

I would be interested to know what you're apprehensive about for Doctor Who. Becuase I'm sort of meh about the start of the new season.

It's just on how things will be handled, is all.

I love Oswin and I am interested in her story, and there are things I am excited to see (i.e. River Song, the Fields of Trenzalore), but I think it's because of the style of Moffat's writing and direction that I fear that it will be slightly repetitive with the twists or not be as it's all hyped up to be, y'know?

So excited for new Who and Thrones. I have so much homework to do this weekend, but I must find time to watch the new episodes.

Also excited for Hobbit 2. I've got my blueray of the first now, and I've already watched it 3x.

It would be embarrassing to admit how much I love all things Hobbit if I wasn't proudly wearing my fangirl geek flag. I loved watching it in the theater, and I love watching it exclusively in my own home. Now I'm just anxiously waiting for all the promo goodies to keep me occupied until December. :)

Great news for PLL, though I'm a bit wary of the girls remaining in their senior year for another two seasons. But I'm sure they'll make it work somehow.

Are they going to be remaining in high school the entire time, or is the show going to be doing something different? Like, I know that they're starting off next season right where they left off in the finale. Regardless, I agree that they'll definitely make it work somehow.

I think that's a common thing for this show, lol. Whether you're dreading the inevitable fates of characters or the possible changes the show will make to particular storylines, it's just a combination of excitement and dread.

So happy about the Pretty Little Liars news. Have you heard anything more specific about what the spin off will be about? I assume that at least one character we know will move over there, or it won't really be a spin-off.

I'm very excited about Game of Thrones, but a little worried too because I heard they made more changes, which can be both good or bad.

Doctor Who... I want to be excited, I used to love this show so much, and Oswin has been such a great character so far, but I think I'm getting tired of Moffat as a showrunner.

According to the press release: "Ravenswood will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of Pretty Little Liars), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them"

That's pretty much all that's been revealed so far. These new characters will be making their debut during the Halloween episode of PLL this year, so we'll have that tie-in. Plus, I'm definitely counting on there being more tie-ins between both shows, and hopefully maybe some crossovers?

Yeah, there's always that worry about what has been changed or altered for the show. Some are good decisions while others...not so good. I'm still pissed and bitter about what they did to Irri and Doreah and Rakharo from last season, not to mention the House of the Undying. :/

I'm kind of on the same boat. I liked what he did in S5, it was new and refreshing and it gave a good kind of storytelling for the new introduction of the Doctor. But beyond that, it's like he repeats storylines and plot twists and doesn't really develop beyond certain things with his writing or even characterizations, and it's gotten rather tiring. I want the rest of the season to be good, I want the mystery surrounding Oswin to be amazing and to blow us all away, but I still have this lingering fear that it's just going to be mediocre.

Oh, Ravenswood does sound interesting. Maybe the mysteries of both shows will tie together.

My problem with Moffat is, that his plot twists only work so often before you start to expect them and see right through them. I used to love his episodes in the earlier seasons, but that was just one episode once in a while, and that kept it interesting. Now, even if the mystery surrounding Oswin has the potential to be amazing, there is a big risk that we will see it - or at least parts of it - coming because we've gotten too used to how Moffat's mind works.

Yep. He really needs to switch things up and stop reusing the same kind of schtick, because it really is getting rather predictable and it becomes less fun of figuring things out.

If you bought the DVD there should be a code where you can view it exclusive on a particular website. Someone tried to put it up on the Internet but it was taken down. But the link above gives excellent recap + pictures from it, and it's just is super exciting no matter what, tbh. :D :D :D

Clara's revived my enthusiasm for Doctor Who and all the upcoming episodes sound interesting, so I'm looking forward to it, as well as the new show Orphan Black airing right after it on BBC America. Have you read about that?

Also psyched for Game of Thrones and The Hobbit, naturally.

I have heard about Orphan Black, and it does sound pretty interesting. It reminds me of that YA book series Replica, based on the description. So I may check it out just to see what it's all about.

I'm also interested in the new Syfy series Defiance premiering on April 15. It looks really interesting. I've seen various promos and the first 14 minutes of the pilot On Demand. Many of the same writers as Battlestar Galactica are working on it and Battlestar composer Bear McCreary is doing the music. The alien languages are all created by David J. Peterson of the Language Creation Society, who made the full Dothraki language for Game of Thrones. Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas and Jaime Murray are in the main cast. I recommend checking Defiance out too. It's also going to be a MMO shooter game, released April 2, and the show and game will connect.

Oh, I've been looking forward to Defiance for some time actually. I've been meaning to write a post about it, because I really want more people to be aware of what I think will be a great show. I mean, just from everything with designing of the world and the characters and different alien races, it seems so elaborate and fascinating. Right up my alley, too.

It seems that Syfy may be getting its juice back. Hopefully they'll give the show a proper chance. *crosses fingers*

Oh, good, I don't have to make a lengthy post with all the info on the series so far. It looks like a worthy successor to BSG as Syfy's top show! All the promotion and the existence of both a game and a show makes me think they're going to give this one a proper chance instead of screwing it like Caprica. I'm really excited!

I didn't hear that PLL got renewed for season 5 or about the spin-off - more ABC Family shows for me to watch! I have an addiction!
