Nikita: "Shadow Walker" Episode Review

Going from an extremely intense emotional episode last week, to a lighthearted family-oriented episode this week. And this one didn't disappoint either, in fact it really demonstrated why I love this show so much, specifically for the dynamics between characters and their relationships with each other.
I have been in love with this family dynamic once it started to form this season, and seeing them in a more-or-less domesticated setting and the typical kind of familial fights that occur is simply endearing. Particularly when it's fighting about money. Now, that might sound serious to some, and it was a serious situation they were getting themselves in. But this episode was clearly designed to not be too serious, even with definite touching moments. I loved the Nikita vs Birkhoff scene, it was like a disappointed parent scolding their rebellious and slightly selfish teenager about being too frivolous and selfish and not seeing the bigger picture. Both parent and child are being stubborn and go off in their corners to cool off because they reconcile in the end. Of course, being Nikita there was certainly some bigger things going down. Birkhoff getting himself arrested, hunted down by not just the FBI but also Division, and dealing with the Division money situation.
It was hilarious and fascinating to watch, and of course touching because Nikita clearly cares about Birkhoff, and he cares about his Niki. Their relationship has been amazing to watch as it grew this season. Their last scene together was adorable, and it warmed my heart. ♥
And I loved Michael and Alex bonding.
I also loved Alex playing the Birkhoff role, and being hilarious while doing so. XD
Mostly, this episode could be considered a filler but Nikita doesn't have many of those, even if nothing extraordinary happened on the Division front (aside from Percy being deflated over all that money being blown up and getting a new partner towards the end) the main aspect of this episode were the characters and their relationships with each other. Particularly the relationship between Nikita and Birkhoff, and just seeing how despite their little squabbles and disagreements here and there, they all come back together in the end. That's what I love about this show. That's what I loved about this episode. And that's why this show deserves to be renewed for a third season, dammit. ♥ ♥ ♥
