PSA: Is anyone out there?

It's been my observation that LJ has been very quiet lately. Most of which seemed to happen during or after the whole hacking incident, which is understandable, many felt uneasy when the place was constantly shutting down and trying to repel the hackers who were causing so much trouble. I know some have migrated over to Dreamwidth or Tumblr because of that, however these days it feels like all my flist either aren't posting or just aren't online anymore, which might not be the case. It is summer hiatus, after all, and I know most of you have lives outside of the online world. But still, it feels like I'm kind of alone on here and that it makes me sad.

So please, my lovely flist, let me know that you're still alive and that you haven't gone anywhere, even if you just lurk/read and don't usually comment. I just want to know who is still alive out there in 'ole LJland so that I don't feel abandoned get worried.

The summer tends to be dead right; and Tumblr has taken over with some people. For the most part, I think it's summer why people are not online.

I kinda agree. Mostly everyone is more active when their fandoms are on, which the majority of them are during the fall season, and when summer arrives things die down because of either boredom or people are busy elsewhere.

I love that Dean/Cas tumblr page! So many amazing things, graphics and recs and everything. I get my daily OTP fix and it's amazing, and heartbreaking, but amazing and it makes me miss them sfm.

But yeah. I feel like now that our shows are done that there's nothing much to say now (except if you have summer shows) and everyone is either lurking, browsing, getting their fixes elsewhere or just away for whatever reason. Summer hiatuses are either filled with bored or wank, or wank because of boredom. Heh.

Maybe, depends on who you follow in your circle of friends. But I think it's in general, things have mellowed out on LJ and I don't think it's just because of the summer hiatus blues. idk

it's made me feel a bit alienated from fandom because where are all the bitches hanging at?

i've come to terms with tumblr somewhat but still, it's kinda rly impersonal. isn't it? idk. it's a good complement, but i couldn't see it being my only source for fandom.

squishy told me she's been lurking because of the wank in fandom. i'm so out of the loop idek what she means.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I like the site well enough for the pretty graphics and whatnot, but it is rather impersonal and not exactly a great way of communicating. I like direct comments from people rather than reblogging and such. Sure, there's the ask box and replies but that seems not nearly as what it would be simply to just have a conversation like in LJ posts and whatnot.

But it is a good complement of fandom, just not something I would trade over LJ. Both work fine but I prefer LJ more since I can actually make posts and communicate with you guys more.

Heh, since when isn't there wank in fandom? Esp in the SPN fandom, there's always someone somewhere wanking about something.

Sometimes, I think the spn fandom is just dying. People just aren't excited about the show anymore. :( Maybe, that feeling will change once comic con and the season preimere start rolling around...

I've sensed a huge decline since after the finale, definitely. I don't know if it'll change or not, considering many aren't happy with the direction the show has been heading and how things are being handled. Right now fandom is divided and I hate seeing that, to be honest. :/

Yeah, the recent errors are very distracting. In fact, LJ seems to have more troubles than Tumblr seems from what I've seen. It's funny since I heard it was the other way around!

I see it like that, as well. Tumblr is more for the pretty and less about coherentness. Not that there aren't Tumblrs that don't have coherent, well-thought out posts of opinions and whatnot, however I find that it's more about the reblogging aspect and not about writing thoughtful posts and people writing back, you know? Tumblr is addictive and fun, but LJ is where my home is for online communication with you guys.
