BAMF COMING THROUGH...
Feb. 26th, 2011 03:52 am
THANK YOU BEN EDLUND FOR THE WINGS! *__*
Secondly, even though our Castiel appeared at the very end there are some things I noticed. There's the Castiel and Balthazar partnership while this civil war is still going down, and the fact that they are working together makes me all gleeful because I want to see more of their interactions since their chemistry is much to be seen, even if it is reluctant on some of the things Castiel has to do during this war, whereas Balthazar couldn't care less as long as the weapons aren't taken by Raphael and he stays alive. Hope we soon see where this leads him. Also yes, the shippiness of them is also noted, the way Balthazar looked so proud when Castiel appeared with his bamf!self. WANT MORE OF CAS/BALTHY PLZ. OH, AND DID ANYONE CATCH THAT BALTHAZAR CALLED CASTIEL "CASSIE"? I MEAN SRSLY. THEIR FRIENDSHIP, WE NEEDS MORE OF IT STAT.

And of course, one cannot forget the ~profound bond~ of Dean/Castiel because it was so there in that last scene. In fact, someone pointed out that Castiel only looked at Dean when he finally appeared, other than his brief interaction with Balthazar and Raphael. Never mind the fact that Dean's reaction to Castiel's wings yet again. Now tell me that isn't pure profound bonding right there. I still think that Dean shouldn't be acting that hostile towards Castiel, and that Castiel shouldn't be apologizing all the time, though considering the danger that occurred I can understand the level of wanting to know what is going on. But you could clearly see on Castiel's face that he's been torn between wanting to tell them and wanting to protect them, and upon realizing that Raphael was going to take this on a personal level something needed to be done. I have no doubt that Castiel will tell them everything they need to know. I just wish there was more empathy on their side, you know?
I mean come on, look at his face. :(

But overall, all of that was told just from the brief moment we had of Castiel appearing at the end, and it was brilliant and glorious after such a lolarious episode altogether. I just hope that in the next episode he'll appear in there will be a conversation about what has been happening in Heaven and how it all relates to what is happening. Perhaps with a little more show then tell, though. Plus some Dean/Cas make-up time because, really, I miss them being able to be cool with each other on their profound bond level.....
In all seriousness, this is the first in a long, long while that I've been genuinely excited after an episode has aired for this show. With the feeling of overwhelming dread and outrage at many things this season, this episode legitimately placed excitement and giddiness back into my fangirl heart and feeling this kind of squeefulness is exactly what I have missed about this fandom. Granted, this was written by Ben Edlund therefore I shouldn't be surprised I fell in love instantly, and there are no other writers that do anything justice anymore, but it makes my heart jump with joy that this episode was worth everything I had hoped for and then some. I am still jittery with adrenaline because of it.
PRAISE BEN EDLUND. HE IS OUR ONLY HOPE IN MAKING IT THROUGH THIS SEASON, JSYK. ♥

I can only carry this so far. Dean and Sam keep getting thrown into the middle of the angels' problems. They're facing the danger without the information. We definitely need some more show and less tell. Because right now, 15 episodes into the season, not only are Sam and Dean in the dark, but we the audience are as well.

Date: 2011-02-26 11:08 pm (UTC)And yeah, the fact it's been fifteen episodes without more information is getting a little tiring. It's not even the subtle build-up of mystery and intrigue like the fourth season had, it's just random blah that makes no sense and little information. I expect more from here on out, or be prepared for me to cut some bitches. Just saying.

Date: 2011-02-26 02:19 pm (UTC)Same here. Watching this show was starting to become a chore for me, but last night's episode succeeded in reaffirming my love for it. ♥
And, yes. We need more Castiel/Balthazar scenes. *______*

Date: 2011-02-26 10:49 pm (UTC)WANT MORE ELABORATION ON CAS/BALTHY, PLZ SHOW. I MEAN ASIDE FROM DEAN/CASTIEL, THIS IS ANOTHER BOND I WANT TO SEE MORE OF THIS SEASON IF YOU CAN, KTHX. :D :D :D

Date: 2011-02-26 04:04 pm (UTC)It's irritating!
The Civil War in Heaven should be a MAJOR deal but for the most part it's been happening in the background. And it doesn't help that Castiel keeps giving the viewer and Dean all these hints about crappy it is. This is probably the one time I can understand Dean's anger and frustration with Cas because I feel the same way.
Enough with the hints! Show us already!

Date: 2011-02-26 10:44 pm (UTC)This has given us a window that their next meeting will be all about that, and I will be sorely disappointed that it doesn't get brought up.
And yeah, even though Dean has been a jerkoff most of the season for no apparent reason, the frustration is understandable in this context. But I still feel bad for Castiel because, well, the poor angel has been through so much. Just seeing the exhaustion on his face is enough to make me wanna hug him. But yes, more explanations please show because we can't keep going around in circles. Get to the point already.

Date: 2011-02-26 04:54 pm (UTC)Trying to make up for how much Dean stared at HIM on set earlier, even though it wasn't really him. XD
Anyway, fffff, I agree with what you said about them being overdue for a good talk! So fucking overdue, jesus.

Date: 2011-02-26 10:35 pm (UTC)Fifteen episodes is definitely too long. Also, I still don't get why Dean is acting so horrible to Castiel? It's like dude, wtf? idgi

Date: 2011-02-26 06:32 pm (UTC)Bad- I'm still upset about the killing of "Misha". I was hysterically laughing until that scene, then I wasn't finding anything funny anymore.
Good- The rest of the episode.
Best- Cas appearing. The wings! The bad-assery! Just flawless. 75% of the reason I even watch SPN is Castiel, so this was perfect. Fingers crossed we get more Dean & Cas scenes from now on. I miss those. Season 6 has been a very uneven season, but this and the 3rd episode really make up for a lot of it.

Date: 2011-02-26 10:31 pm (UTC)The killing of "Misha" really dampered the hysterical vibe for me too, mostly because even though it wasn't our Misha it was still Misha and, well, you just don't harm Misha in anyway! Also, I think it made all of us incredibly worried on some level because random shit like that happens irl, and just seeing it happen on the screen was enough to great some kind of panic of OMG WHAT IF THAT REALLY DID HAPPEN? D: D: D:
But then I realize that Misha is alive and well in our reality, so let this be a cautionary tale for everyone.
BAMF!CASTIEL IS BACK BITCHES! AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICAL! I just loved how he appeared, with him threatening Raphael and showing of his wings, and Dean's expression during it all, and the Castiel/Balthazar moments. And just, omgyes. And yeah, I'm seriously hoping we get more Dean/Cas scenes after this because if they don't, they has lots of explaining to do since the Dean/Cas bond is one of the vital relationships on the show next to the brothers, as far as I'm concerned.

Date: 2011-02-26 07:14 pm (UTC)My only complaint is that we are this far in the season and are still being TOLD instead of really SHOWN the war in heaven. I figured now that Sam has his soul back they would be delving into it and really exploring it now. Instead we still just have a slight glimpse of the going ons and Cas saying the same old line about how caught up in the war he is. At this point, I expect more than that.
btw, you should follow Sebastian Roche, aka Balthazar, on Twitter. He posts about Cas and his pet names a lot on there, lol.

Date: 2011-02-26 09:58 pm (UTC)Yeah, with fifteen episodes you'd think they would have shown us something more instead of just all talk. Though this did give some hope that there will be more from here on out, at least more than what we've been given anyway. I'm not holding my breath for it to be revealed in the next episode, but I just want more with the Heaven civil war and how Castiel has been dealing with it.
I TOTALLY LOVE SEBASTIAN AND HOW ADORKABLE HE IS. ♥ I love his pet names, I'm just sad that he'll be in Vancon without me. :(

Date: 2011-02-27 03:46 am (UTC)OMG SEBASTIAN. I was so excited when he got the part of Balthazar. Anytime he shows up on one of my shows I am filled with glee.

Date: 2011-02-27 05:47 am (UTC)More Heaven and angels, less with the boring stuff plz, kthx.
SEBASTIAN IS SUCH A DELIGHT. :D :D :D Balthazar is just amazing and I'm glad he's filling in those shoes because I can't see anyone else doing it. Though seriously, if I hear another person comparing him to Gabriel one more time I am gonna be cutting some bitches....

Date: 2011-02-28 12:13 am (UTC)People who automatically hated Balthazar because they assumed he was a Gabriel replacement really, really piss me off.

Date: 2011-02-28 12:51 am (UTC)There's still some people who think that even after this meta episode, because of the "but he placed them in an alternate tv reality, that's just what Gabriel did! Don't tell me he's not a replacement because he like totally is!" Which really confuses and pisses me off to no end. THEY. ARE. NOT. THE SAME. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS PEOPLE. >:|
I understand the bitterness after Gabriel, believe me I am too. But dammit, learn to distinguish between character traits, okay?

Date: 2011-02-27 04:11 am (UTC)I am in totally agreement with being excited about upcoming episodes. And the BAMF!Cas at the end was the perfect way to end a happier episode that went as crazy as this one did.
And yes...can't Ben Edlund just write the rest of the season, please? His work is always amazing!

Date: 2011-02-27 05:39 am (UTC)I think I actually squee-d at the wings. IDK CAN'T REMEMBER CAUSE I WAS LOLING AT SO MUCH ANYWAYS.
And I agree with the sentiment. First episode that really made me excited this season. I'd been getting int a point of 'ehh...don't really want to watch it but I will..." so much that I STILL haven't watched episode 14.

Date: 2011-02-27 05:57 am (UTC)There are several episodes I have purposefully skipped this season because I knew I would get a.) enraged or b.) the hardly interested me in the slightest. I would advise not watching 6.14 because from what I've heard, it pretty much sucked and many were displeased with it. Spare yourself the pain by just relishing the awesomeness of this episode. \O/

I couldn't have put it better myself. Ben's episodes really are the only episodes I look forward to anymore.
