01. CASTIEL IS SITTING ON DEAN'S BED IN THE BEGINNING. So obviously, this is definitely their "after sexytiems" post-coital moment in discussing some serious business. Very reminiscent to how Cas was perched on the edge of his bed back in 4.03 if I recall. But this is more connected to their ~profound bond~, of course, which makes me kinda happy. ♥

02. Remember what I talked about earlier? Seems like Castiel is making the same predictions as well about Lucifer and Michael and Sam down in the cage and possibly fighting things out. Although it makes me wonder how Castiel knows that's what's happening down there, and also, he mentions them being down in the cage "for a year". Isn't time in Hell different, or does that not apply to Lucifer's cage? Or is the show retconning yet again?

03. ALSO, Y U NO MENTION ADAM GODDAMMIT?!?!?! HE FELL IN THE CAGE TOO YOU KNOW. Someone pointed out that Adam could have been returned to Heaven once Michael took over, however I highly doubt that's how the rules work when taking a vessel. And even if that were the case, they should at least mention him at some point, he was an unfortunate victim of all of this too and deserves recognition for all he'd done and sacrificed.

04. Ummmm, do I wanna know what "mutilated thing" they wanna shove down Sam's throat? It sounds incredibly disturbing..... O_o


In the general sense I've been feeling rather indifferent about the show lately, for obvious reasons everyone probably already knows, in spite of my reviews and metas and questions revolving around certain subjects. My love for the characters/actors hasn't really changed, just the direction the show has been taking and what has left me feeling unimpressed/frustrated with the structure and story so far. I think I'm more looking forward to the second half of the season rather than this half because it will be dealing with my bb Castiel and the angel mytharc a lot more because hey, angelical civil war? How awesome is that? :D Let's just hope they actually get to it instead of it being only background noise, though I'm surprisingly optimistic that there will be something happening on that front down the line. I also read some semi-spoilers of what might be happening in episode 6.11 and it makes me excitedly anxious which I haven't felt in some time, but I'll post about that later.

I still maintain the idea that they should have just done a televised movie to wrap up the Winchester story and done a spin-off with Castiel and the angels, since it seems more logical and would have made all sides happy, but whatever.

SERIOUSLY. DOES NO ONE CARE THAT ADAM IS IN THE CAGE, TOO? MICHAEL AND LUCIFER HAVE MORE TO DO THAN TAKE THEIR FRUSTRATIONS ON SAM--THEY CAN TORTURE ADAM, TOO.

I wasn't crazy about the introduction of the third Winchester in S4, or about how they copped out and used him as a vessel in S5, but they introduced him, dammit, SO TREAT THE CHARACTER WITH RESPECT.

I feel like we need an Adam Support System or Prayer Circle for the poor boy. Like you I wasn't entirely thrilled about them introducing an illegitimate half-brother into the Winchester mix, and I started to like him after they brought back but hated that they used his character as a cop-out of a plot device, and enraged they are hardly mentioning him. And you said it, they brought him in they need to at least MENTION HIM or acknowledge his soul is either in Heaven or in the cage.

But this show loves being scattered and not thinking things through and always retconning for their own purposes, not paying attention to continuity. They might think that fans will not notice, but we do. And we care.

I've been generally MEH on this season as a whole, but still have found things that grab my interest and keep me somewhat invested. For some reason the lead up to this episode has left me feeling more disengaged than I have all season. Maybe the break in episodes played into it, maybe it's the thought of losing Soulless!Sam who has been a highlight this season, idk.

Instead of squeeing over Dean/Cas in this clip, I find myself too pissed off about the continued glossing over of Adam, you know DEAN'S OTHER BROTHER, SHOW. OH THAT'S RIGHT, YOU ONLY LIKE TO RECOGNIZE HIS EXISTENCE WHEN IT CAN PROVIDE A PLOT POINT. Also, I really don't want a rehash of S4 Dean with Sam when he gets his soul back (Not to mention they didn't even handle Dean's post-Hell trauma all that well). Also, is Sam going to have two sets of memories - one from his soul (I believe the mutilated thing Cas is talking about is Sam's soul btw) and one from his body? Have the writers thought this whole thing out.

I'm the same. I'm finding myself becoming too disconnected from the main story but staying for other things that continue to enthrall me, mostly dealing with the subplots and/or supporting characters. And of course with Castiel and Balthazar and the rest of them.

I highly doubt anyone has thought this through very well, and if they had it's not translating well on the screen. As I said, the structure of this season is entirely scattered and hardly giving us anything to grab onto to feel fully engaged with what's going on and how we should feel. It continues to go back and forth with major inconsistencies and it's really frustrating.

02. My questions exactly. At this point, unless there's any explanation or distinction that's gonna happen between now and the end of the season, I'm sort of leaning more towards the "the writers don't care" direction.

02. Given that Inception came out this summer and the way they dealt with time in dreams, I think it would actually be kind of cool if the further down in Hell you go, the more time compounds. So Lucifer's cage? Would basically be like limbo (in terms of Inception, not uh... the show).

But since the show can't seem to pay attention to their own rules, I doubt they'd go any deeper into the mechanics of it. UGH. :'(

03. I KNOW, IT ISN'T THAT HARD AND IT ACTUALLY MAKES THE SHOW BETTER AND MORE INTERESTING. BEING ALL ~TROLOLO ABOUT STUFF IS ONLY AMUSING FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS.

02. Oh, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I rather like that theory. If the show doesn't give any kind of logical explanation, or any explanation at all about their own rules regarding their mythology, I'd definitely go with that because an Inception-based level of Hell, aka Lucifer's cage? I'm all for that, totally.

04. It's mentioned in the cage, but is it really? How do we even know? Is Castiel just reaching for something that is less horrific than a reality we'd rather not know? Is Crowley lying? Also this gets kind of confusing because of the Sam we see now that is soulless, but the Sam that we know is elsewhere, it's hard to keep track on what exactly we should be looking at and how. Henceforth the entire sloppiness of this entire storyline of WHERE IS SAM'S SOUL AND HOW TO GET IT BACK. It's a tired and complicated thing, and for a show that doesn't deal with complicated stuff that well it is gonna go downhill in making any kind of sense.

Moreover, I'd rather not want Sam's soul to have been tormented in Hell because, after Dean, I feel like only Dean should have had that kind of trauma because that was more emotionally affective than what is happening this right now. I'm just saying....

02. Yessss! I agree, and archangels that have that kind of abilities can have elaborate sorts of ~versions~ of what they can do in that kind of caged limbo they are in. THIS NEEDS TO BE TURNED INTO A STORY NOW! ALONG WITH A VERSION OF SAM/ADAM/LUCIFER/MICHAEL HAVING SOME KIND OF BITCHFIGHT IN THE CAGE AND RESOLVE IT BY PLAYING CONNECT FOUR MILLION. XD

04. I don't buy that Crowley has it either. There is absolutely no possible way Crowley could have done all of that even if he had been prompted to King of Hell; it took the demons all this time to know where LUCIFER'S CAGE WAS and COMMUNICATE WITH LUCIFER via certain rituals and such. It's hard to really kind of think that Crowley could do all of this without some kind of influence or help. And even so, all of this soul-dealing business seems far too....idk, overdone by this show. Perhaps that's the point, they always deal with things they aren't supposed to. But this is kinda beating a dead horse. GIVE US SOMETHING NEW SHOW AND JUST GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT ABOUT YOUR OWN MYTHOLOGY AND RULES. GODDAMN.

(I have a vague theory that Balthazar might be behind something of this, but I don't know....just a feeling.....)

Yeah, I know. I think they're just making up shit as they go along with this one. I mean, what is there any need for Sam to be without his soul in the first place? I just don't understand. Me too. I think most of it is because I've never liked Sera Gamble's writing and what she seems to think is important (Sam and Dean never ending brotherly angst, Sam being a OOC kick ass soulless hunter, general overused melodrama, Dean's OOC angsting over Lisa) just isn't the kind of stuff that interests me AT ALL. Plus she doesn't really seem to be able to see the big picture and has no concept of continuity.

Preaching to the choir, love. Judging from the reactions of how Sera has been handling this season, esp after that horrendous premiere opener, many people feel the same way.

Hear! Hear! If they turn the angel civil war into a mini-search for god (ie it happens off screen) I'll be pissed.

They seemed to heavily imply it from "The Third Man" that whatever is happening in Heaven in this civil war will be brought back to attention in the second half, so I'm holding out. Knowing this show they could be setting us up to be disappointed at the lack of anything, however if it deals directly with what's been happening with the boys I'd think they would bring it to attention and have something fierce happen.

Yeah I think that's the best we can hope for. Personally, I just want them to do ANYTHING with Cas and the other angels, but particularly Cas. I'll even take OOC melodrama (Misha might even be able to make THAT believable).
