This has been posted and reposted almost like everywhere now, but I need to repeat the massive squeefest because the happiness of this news has been utterly contagious, I can't help it.

PROP 8 HAS BEEN OVERTURNED! IT HAS BEEN NAMED UNCONSTITUTIONAL BY THE JUDGE! GAYS CAN BE LEGALLY MARRIED IN CALIFORNIA!

I AM HONESTLY SO PROUD OF MY STATE RIGHT NOW. LIKE, THERE ARE NO WORDS. READING THE ENTIRE FINAL RULING OF THE CASE AND THE JUDGE'S CONCLUSIONS FILLS ME WITH SO MUCH GLEE, I CAN'T EVEN. Seriously folks, the deflation I felt after hearing the orders when they were in favor of Prop 8 has dissolved into utter happiness and joy upon stumbling across this news. Because to me, the mindset that only marriage can be between a man and a woman is just absolutely absurd. We cannot deny the right of happiness of two individuals who want to be joined by their love for one another. Love is a beautiful thing, we should embrace the celebration of love regardless of gender instead of trying to ban it out of hatred, ignorance and fear.

Why it's even still an issue today, I'll never understand. I know some people have different views but it's utterly ridiculous how anyone can think that imposing such bans on human rights is even remotely okay.

I hope that one day, in the near future, everyone will come to accept the differences of others and shake their heads at why this was even a controversy in the first place.
