This has been posted and reposted almost like everywhere now, but I need to repeat the massive squeefest because the happiness of this news has been utterly contagious, I can't help it.

PROP 8 HAS BEEN OVERTURNED! IT HAS BEEN NAMED UNCONSTITUTIONAL BY THE JUDGE! GAYS CAN BE LEGALLY MARRIED IN CALIFORNIA!

I AM HONESTLY SO PROUD OF MY STATE RIGHT NOW. LIKE, THERE ARE NO WORDS. READING THE ENTIRE FINAL RULING OF THE CASE AND THE JUDGE'S CONCLUSIONS FILLS ME WITH SO MUCH GLEE, I CAN'T EVEN. Seriously folks, the deflation I felt after hearing the orders when they were in favor of Prop 8 has dissolved into utter happiness and joy upon stumbling across this news. Because to me, the mindset that only marriage can be between a man and a woman is just absolutely absurd. We cannot deny the right of happiness of two individuals who want to be joined by their love for one another. Love is a beautiful thing, we should embrace the celebration of love regardless of gender instead of trying to ban it out of hatred, ignorance and fear.

I hadn't heard that until now but that is so, so amazing! I'm not from California, but this is a one state at a time process. I can't wait until gay marriage is legal throughout the US because honestly, if you're against it DON'T HAVE ONE, but don't try to take away someone else's right to do it. Love is love, no matter what gender you are.

I will never understand why some people just can't let things be, like you don't have to personally agree with it if it goes against what you believe. Everyone has the right to believe and think however they want to, but to take away someone's rights? No, just no. That's discrimination and pure bigotry, plain and simple.

I do hope that we can fight such blind hatred by getting more laws to legalize gay marriage. Win through the power of love and equality, not hate. ♥

I get a headache over reading the debates against gay marriage, because it all comes back to "traditional ways" and I think that's utterly ridiculous. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having same-sex partners getting married, whether in a traditional religious ceremony or instead of a court room. Like I mentioned to someone earlier, marriage is what you believe it is to be. Whatever you personally believe it to be, it's all in the connection of uniting two people together through love. And love? It's a beautiful thing, something many of the naysayers are neglecting to even acknowledge because they are so blinded by their hatred.

Love should be shared by all, the opportunity for same-sex couples to get married just like any other heterosexual couple is a great step forward. It's something this entire country should be more open about, and it's a pity it's even still an issue in this day and age.

I don't get the idea that there's a big difference between homosexual and heterosexual love. Either way, you're talking about the love between two consenting adults. It seems stupid to me for people to get squicked by something that harms no one and doesn't affect them personally.

BUT THINK ABOUT ~*THE CHILDREN*~ AND HOW THEY ARE GOING TO BE SEEING HOMOSEXUALITY AS THE NORM NOW! THEY WILL LEARN TO TREAT PEOPLE EQUALLY INSTEAD OF JUDGING SOLELY BASED ON WHO THEY ARE AND THEIR LIFESTYLES THAT DIFFER FROM THEIR OWN! OH NOES, THE HORROR, SAVE THE ~PRECIOUS CHILDREN!

Yeah, I never understood that concept either. There's just so much hatred and ignorance those people spread and they truly believe they are trying to "save" others from damnation, which why should they care? They should worry about themselves instead of fretting over what other people do with their lives. Besides, there's nothing wrong with love. It's better to spread love and happiness than hatred and spite for something none of these people will ever understand.

So, this is a day of celebration! And hopefully soon, many other States will comply to the same change in laws in giving those of all sexual orientations the option of marrying their significant others without fear, without the feeling of being neglected, of being discriminated against just because they happen to be in love with someone that is of the same gender as they are.

Why it's even still an issue today, I'll never understand. I know some people have different views but it's utterly ridiculous how anyone can think that imposing such bans on human rights is even remotely okay.

I hope that one day, in the near future, everyone will come to accept the differences of others and shake their heads at why this was even a controversy in the first place.
