Well, it's based on the Sword of Truth books by Terry Goodkind, set in a fantasy-based world. It basically follows the epic journey of Richard, the Seeker, and his quest to save the world from evil.

You can read a brief but more detailed version here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_the_Seeker), but it really is a fantastic and wonderful series, lighthearted and fun but also having dark and intriguing themes as well. There's a wide-range of fascinating characters from this world and their origins, like wizards and witches, Mord'Siths, Confessors, sorceresses, and some fantastical creatures and beasts. I've said it before, but it's a mixture of Harry Potter and Star Wars and Lord of the Rings all wrapped into one show, and it's awesome. Plus, the female characters on the show? Kick so much ass. In fact, I will say I haven't seen strong women like this shown since Buffy and Xena, and that's saying something right there. Every single character is amazing and wonderful in their own right, and it's probably one of the few shows I have that I can watch without feeling frustrated or unfulfilled with the direction of the story (unless one is a fan of the books because it does take a detour in places I've heard, but I think it does well on its own as a show and it doesn't lose track on what the story is mainly about).

And yeah, it's great. And aesthetically it's just absolutely gorgeous. From the costumes to the settings, since it's filmed in New Zealand. And the action sequences just blow your mind.

I literally can gush about LOTS all day, lol. ;)
