Friday Five in Fandom
Apr. 21st, 2023 03:55 pmTaken from last week's
thefridayfive:
01. What fandom(s) do you follow on LiveJournal or Dreamwidth?
Before on LJ, it was practically any of my fandoms, but that was before the great exodus and most of those communities ended up mostly barren. However, once finally transferring over here to DW, I'm pleasantly surprised to find a great community for Asian dramas and entertainment, especially for cdramas.
c_ent in general, but also for specific fandoms like
sid_guardian,
ghost_valley, and
theuntamed_mdzs. I'm very happy since there was very little of that over on LJ, and outside of Tumblr it's just nice to see other Asian drama fans on a journaling platform that I can chat with and squee about these fandoms.
02. Where else do you follow those fandoms?
Mostly Tumblr. It's where I get introduced to the majority of my newest fandom obsessions, actually.
03. Have you ever met up with fannish friends?
Yes, I have! Back when I was going to conventions years ago I met up with some online friends, mainly from LJ. I miss doing that, to be honest.
04. When there's a question on a 'find a fic' community, are you likely to help find the fic or do you hope someone else will know it?
If the fic/author sounds familiar perhaps, but otherwise I don't go searching for it and hope that someone else might know. It does make me feel guilty, somewhat, but there's a lot of fic out there, and I'm very selective of the fanfics from the fandoms that I do read for anyway, so the chances of me finding what they're looking for even with the vaguest of descriptions is pretty low.
05. Did you customize/tweak your LJ or DW home page or are you using one of the basic options?
The basics. I've wanted to do some customization, but I would have to do some more research on how to do that and not fuck it all up.
