Apparently today marks the 20th anniversary when Lost premiered. Twenty years ago. It's hard to fathom, honestly. I remember when it premiered, I remember the hype surrounding the show, everyone on my LJ friendslist were freaking out about it at the time. Although I didn't watch the show throughout its run, I did watch the first season. I bought the DVDs for it. It wasn't a show I was interested in continuing, mainly because I was already watching so many other stuff during that time, but it was something I kinda knew of as people were reacting to it over the years as the seasons went on. I know that the controversial series finale is what most people talk about years after it ended, but I also know how absolutely bonkers it was learning of the things that happened throughout the seasons. The flashbacks, OMGWTFPOLARBEAR, smoke monster, "we have to go back!", etc.

Moreover, this is probably one of my favorite promotional advertisements done for the show.

Being stranded after a plane crash never looked so sophisticated. )

Additionally, because it's been on my mind regarding a lot of popular and successful shows of the past, it's kind of wild to consider the possibility that if Lost were to premiere today it most likely would be cancelled after one season. Which says all that needs to be said regarding the sad nature of our current state of television and media overall via streaming.

++ I'm kind of proud that I have managed to convert several more people to Legend of the Seeker, kinda like how I was converted immediately after being intrigued by the show itself. So it's an ongoing cycle of getting converted and addicted, which is kinda fun when you think about it. I've just been so amazed at how I never saw this show before now, and I'm hoping for those of you who have gotten into it and love it that you'll help save the show despite the cancellation. There is still hope, don't give up!

Also yes [livejournal.com profile] secondstar, I have recently bought Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind and will be reading it soon.

++ I don't watch LOST. I haven't watched LOST since the first season because I kinda got bored after that, and that I never really cared about all this talk about it. However, it seemed that thanks to this F_W post I actually understand what happened in the series finale and the overall sense of the show. And it's kind of funny that someone like me, who hasn't been paying attention to anything LOST and doesn't care for these last six years it's been on, understands what happened more than some hardcore fans have. I mean sure it's complicated and mightily confusing and some of it I'm not quite sure how it fits, but from my own perspective inside my own head it makes a weird kind of sense.

I also am compelled to watch it now, BUT ONLY FOR MARKSHA. I don't care about Jack or Kate or whoever else is on that show. I just want the interesting scenes with Jacob and his storyline with the MIB. DAMN YOU MARKSHA, YOU MAKE ME WANNA WATCH THESE THINGS THAT I HAD NO INTEREST IN BEFORE! *shakes fist*

++ Oh, and speaking of which, Misha explaining slash to Marksha and that it "unites the world" will never not be the bestest thing ever. ♥ Oh Misha, you always want to bring up the slashfic wherever you go.

First off, welcoming all new added friends from the Whedonverse friending meme some days ago. Hope you find enjoyment in whatever wacky or insane stuff you'll find here, or elsewhere that I may be.

Secondly, I know that the LOST finale premiered Wednesday, although I didn't watch it because I have absolutely no clue what's going on since I've been slacking in that fandom. I only get my current updates by watching the previews or reading up on who else died on the island, or who's been hooking up. Otherwise, I'm completely out-of-the-loop regarding the Big Mystery. After the two-hour finale that I didn't watch, I've attempted to find out what's been happening through reviews, yet failed miserably because the descriptions and summary recappings I've read are so complex that they don't make any kind of sense. There's something about Eko and Locke, but the mystery of why the plane crashed, and what about The Others? Do they get Walt back, if he is indeed still alive? I'm just WAY behind in this fandom, and recapped reviews aren't helping my understanding on what the hell happened.

What's strange is that even though I haven't been watching the latest season of LOST, I'm still addicted to it. Huh.

It's Friday, although there's no new Doctor Who this evening, which bites. And it's almost nearing the end of the season with Chrisopher Eccleston, and I'm praying that the Sci-Fi Channel will have the rights to air the second season with David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. Oh, and just a reminder that the Doctor Who 2005 series will be available to purchase on July 4th for US consumers. Yays!

Criminal Minds 1.10 - 'The Popular Kids' Reaction Review )

In other fandomish news, the LOST television score soundtrack will be available March 21st. I am completely psyched, considering the score is one of the main things that attracted me to the series; omnious sounding and creepifying. Although some of the title tracks on the soundtrack look incredibly wanktastic, given the amount of puns. I am deeply amused by this, if not disturbed.

Recommendation Of The Day: Battlestar Galactica (MV) - Sex, Violence, and Cylons. This is a fan-fucking-tastic fanmade music video, using clips from BSG to System Of A Down's "Violent Pornography" (such a bad song that it's good, and addicting as hell). Whether or not you're a fan of either, I highly recommend viewing this fanvideo. It's incredibly well done, particularly with the clips used, editing, lighting and just...everything. Although be warned, it contains lots of violence, sex, and graphic material, and spoilers from the mini-series to the current season.

Also, I really like Sharon "Boomer" Valerii. And possibly Number Six.

Good evening, everybody! Happy December and Happy Friday to all. First off, this officially begins the holiday shopping sprees, and I urge everyone out there that celebrates any certain holiday to be safe while shopping and/or traveling. Second thing concerning fandom, unfortunately the Sci-Fi Channel will not being showing Firefly this evening for it has a special movie presentation that will air all evening long. However, "The Train Job" will air next Friday. So, stay tuned!

-♠- Still Flyin': The Firefly Talk podcast has updated their podcast episode #7 which features the second part of their interview with Keith R.A. DeCandido, the author of the Serenity novelization, along with an article about the hazards of translating Firefly and their regular news. ALSO, a brand new podcast has been created, called Josscentricality, which is basically anything in relation to Joss Whedon's recent projects (BtVS, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Wonder Woman, Goner, Fray, etc.) Until The Signal and Firefly Talk, the folks running the Josscentricality podcast don't separate things in segments but rather have a notes on what segments their are to talk about, and it just features them handing off mics to each other talking about the topics of that episode of their show. It's recorded in Australia, however have worldwide news and information of anything Joss-centric. They're an amusing and fun bunch of folks, and I found myself laughing during their second podcast episode, which was their thorough review of the film, Serenity. So, keep an eye on that other podcast.

-♠- Can't Stop The Signal: MoviesOnline has an interview with Joss Whedon, where he discusses the aftermath of Serenity's success in the theaters and the what ifs for a possible sequel if the DVD sales sky rocket. I can't stress enough, people, buy the Serenity DVD! Buy not just some, but a handful of them to give to family and friends for this holiday season. Big Damn Greatest Present, ever!

-♠- Reaving A Reaver? That's Reaved Up!: Hilarious little theorizer about why aren't the Reavers Reaving each other. My favorite theory from the list is: "When you Reave a Reaver, you're not just Reaving that Reaver: You're Reaving every Reaver that that Reaver ever Reaved." Hee!

-♠- Jesus Christ...On A Bicycle: HBO's critically acclaimed cancelled series Carnivàle to return in comic books? As everyone agrees that it was a terrible mistake to cancel this show, however there were two discussions on whether or not they could wrapup all the loose ends by making a two-hour movie or a possible comic book series to continue to legacy of the story. The Powers-That-Be dismissed the decision for a made-for-televised movie (gathering that the storyline goes until 1945 and from its last season it was hardly out of the 1930s), but the comic book series is still a high possiblility. Carnivàle lasted two seasons before HBO took a horribly drastic move to cancel the series from such a wonderful storyline and devoted viewers. Luckily, I have season one marked and underlined on my Christmas Wishlist (because, you know, it costed around $100 at BestBuy). I'm hoping the comic books are a go (or maybe a mini-series, I don't know).

-♠- OMGWTFDUI!: I'm pretty sure everyone's heard of this news already, but in case anyone hasn't apparently two new LOST co-stars find themselves into DUI trouble. Michelle Rodriguez, who plays newcomer Ana-Lucia, and Cynthia Watros, who plays another newcomer character named Libby, were both caught and busted while driving under the influence. Granted, I haven't been keeping on on spoilers of this season because of VMars and all, but this is kind of ironic (considering that nobody likes the character of Ana-Lucia).

-♠- OMGZOMBIE!REAVERFREAKOUT, OH NOES!: Oh Snap! Reavers are so PWNED by Reaver Slayer, River Tam, yo! Just in case anyone hasn't experienced the highly high-larious Hand Puppet Movie Theatre featurette of Serenity. Hee!

Remember, tonight's episode of Firefly is "Jaynestown", airing on the Sci-Fi Channel at 7:00pm (6:00pm depending on your location.) Watch, and get ready for some HIGH-larious entertainment with our Hero of Canton!

-♠- Extremely Shiny: An International Serenity poster/wallpaper has been released, including a very flexible River Tam holding very shiny and sharp weapons and an expression that's killer. Literally.

-♠- Aimin' To Misbehave: New Serenity pictures, yay! Though some are spoilerific, so if you have Spoilerphobia avoid these at all costs. These images include:
+ Joss just chillin' with the gang, and adorable Summer is all smiles
+ I'm the Captain of this boat, and if your sister wants to wear those goggle-whatcha-ma-thingies, then I'm gonna allow her to, gorramit!
+ Mal has been chosen to become the next Messiah....Mal is not pleased of this at all
+ River: "Hiiieee-yaaww, bitch!"
+ Freedom, at long last! Oh, and there's Book
+ Mal: "What'dya mean, the show was cancelled? No, it couldn't've been. We're all too darn pretty to be cancelled!"
+ Malcolm Reynolds is contemplating, action-figure style
+ Serenity 2: The Companion and the Bounty Hunter, coming soon to a theater near you!
+ Joss: "Hey, where the fucking hell is MY cameo in this movie?"
+ Jayne just saw a gremlin and uses Vera to protect him
+ *cue Darth Vader theme* Dun-dun-dun, dun dun-dun, dun dun-dun!!
+ You guys get a movie, and all I got was this creepy Barbie-like concubine and fake flowers!
+ Just like a leaf on the wind....
-♠- GOF: Two New GOF Character Posters have been officially released. One of Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the Tri-Wizard Champions and the other with The Trio and Mad-Eye Moody. ALSO, there is a confirmed and reliable report saying that a brand new theatrical trailer is to be released in front of The Corpse Bride, and is said to be shortly released online beforehand.

-♠- "Is River Gonna Hafta Stab A Bitch?": The Viral Marketing of the Fireflyverse has released its fifth, and final, episode clip. It is neither scary nor creepifying, but still bravo to Summer's acting skills:

-♠- No Power In The 'Verse: EXCLUSIVE Clips From Serenity! These, of course, include major -- repeat, major giveaways and spoilers from the film. Though nothing that hasn't been seen in the trailer or international trailers, but still. Be forewarned to all those wanting to be spoiler-free. Here they are (right-click save target as):
+ The Chase Scene
+ The Fight Scene (River, Mal, Jayne)
+ "Dear Buddha, please send me a pony, and a plastic rocket..."
+ The Sekrit-Moment Scene
+ Jayne, Obligatory Psychotic Jackass Moment
+ Crazy, intelligent River with gun and Papa Mal making with the peace-talking
+ "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch me soar..."
-♠- OMGWTFPOLARBEAR!: LOST: The Complete First Season DVD is now available for buying. Highly recommended. The suspense, the mystery, this ain't no freaking Survivor show. This is ultimately a fast-paced dramatic series with plenty of character and twists. Makes you think twice about flying on airplanes, though....

-♠- Earth To Mars: Just a friendly reminder that the finale of Veronica Mars' first season will be airing next Wednesday. The season premiere will be airing on the 28th of this month.
